Mr. Tycoon's Daring Wife

Chapter 74: Dont Jump To Conclusions

Chen Gaonan furiously typed on his mobile phone but kept his anger reigned in. While he could be considered as one of Yang Feng’s people, it would still not be beneficial to him to offend this Demon King in favor of someone like Zheng Tianyi.

[Sir, CEO Zheng has already arrived and is waiting for you in the meeting room. It is too late to cancel it.]

When Yang Feng’s phone received another notification from his personal secretary, he looked at it and frowned.

So what if he had already arrived? The scum could be standing in front of him and he wouldn’t bat an eye while pushing him aside.

After treating Zhao Lifei so badly and blatantly claiming credit for the success of his business as if he was the true brains behind the amazing proposals, he still had the face to demand to see him? What a joke.

[Yama King: I don’t care.]

Chen Gaonan felt his jaw nearly dropped to the floor as he angrily ran a hand through his hair. His boss had always been aggravating and demanding, but he was a workaholic who always prioritized work over anything. For such a man to suddenly change his attitude and work ethic, Chen Gaonan was clueless about what could have happened.

Pressing his lips together, Chen Gaonan continued to pester his boss to arrive at the meeting. He knew it was a death wish to immediately go against his boss’s words, but this proposal and meeting were really important to both parties.

Meanwhile, Zhao Lifei had finished washing the dishes and noticed Yang Feng heavily invested in his phone. She curiously looked at the screen and faintly made out the contact to be Chen Gaonan, his private secretary.

Her brow raised when she saw the secretary was pestering his boss to hurry up and show up at a meeting.

Was he busy today? Then why did he readily accept the idea of going to an amusement park? She thought it was strange that he was willing to put aside a meeting just to hang out with her.

"You should attend the meeting. We can go to the amusement park next time." She spoke up, giving his shoulder a pat before walking to the living room and tying her hair up.

Yang Feng’s head snapped to her so fast, he was surprised he didn’t get whiplash from the lightning speed. His brows drew closer, forming creases on his forehead. She was fine that he would be canceling their plans for work? He didn’t think she was THIS reasonable...

Often, his mother and younger sister would be infuriated when he placed work over them. They reasoned that as important people in his life, he should carve out time away from work and spend time with them.

The other women who had the audacity to think they held even a tiny bit of importance in his life just because they spent a night together thought the same. He felt no hesitation in quashing their foolish ideas for good.

The realization that she didn’t reason with the same belief made him unhappy. By not being angry, didn’t that mean she didn’t care about him and what was supposed to be their first date?

He stared at her retreating back and frowned. Did she see it as a date? He hoped she did. But with her current reaction, he knew she thought of it as a friendly outing between friends.

The thought soured his mood further.

"You’re fine with me just leaving?" He asked her, narrowing his eyes.

Zhao Lifei turned around when she noticed the edge in his voice and the deadly aura chasing after her. She sighed at how easily angered he was.

"Don’t jump to conclusions so quickly. Overthinking is bad for you." She said while crossing her arms. A part of her wished she hadn’t said that because overthinking practically ran in her blood, thus, making her sound hypocritical.

"I wasn’t." He stubbornly muttered, even though he did just that.

"You’re the CEO of your company, of course, they need you. It’s unfair for me to ask you to take a day off so we could have fun when you already have a packed schedule." She reasonably said, surprising him with her independence yet again.

She wasn’t clingy with him like his mother, his younger sister, or the other women he knew in his life. Instead, she seemed very understanding that he had his responsibilities. On the other hand, he knew it was because she was afraid of being a nuisance.

From his sources, he knew Zhao Lifei used to pester Zheng Tianyi about his work schedule — she wanted to make sure he was well taken care of by forcing him to leave the office to rest or to eat, and that they get to spend quality time together outside of work.

With Zheng Tianyi’ secret lover, quick temper, and proclivity for violence, he could only imagine what Zhao Lifei had endured.

Yang Feng knew she didn’t want the past to repeat itself.

The idea that she believes that he would be of the same mold as Zheng Tianyi has further ruined his mood.

Why can’t she just voice out what she truly wanted? Does she not realize how pampering he was of her?

He wanted her to cling to him and to be ’unreasonable’ by asking more of his time from him. If she wanted him to drop everything in his schedule and run off with her for a year-long vacation, he’d do so in a heartbeat.

But with her current state, he knew that would be an impossible dream. He found it hard to believe that such a wealthy heiress would have trouble telling people what she wanted.

A woman like her should’ve been heavily treasured and doted on by her family, but she was taught since birth that her parents didn’t love her, so doing something like that would be hard for her.

"Besides, it’s not like I’m your wife or girlfriend to even dare ask for your time." She added, clearly drawing a line between them. She looked away when she said it because every fiber of her body was screaming at her.

Her heart yearned for him, her brain kept telling her that it was logical for her to be with him, but she was too terrified at the idea of being in love again.

She had fallen helplessly in love once, and the brutal humiliation that resulted from that was enough to scar her for life.

Anger washed over Yang Feng at her prickling words. He opened his mouth and was prepared to furiously scold her, but paused and breathed in deeply.

Right now, their relationship was too unstable for him to treat her harshly. If he unleashed his ruthless personality on her, she’d flinch away from him and the walls around her would be higher than ever.

If he was as foolish and domineering as he was with all other aspects of his life, they would be on their way to the marriage registration office whether she liked it or not!

He wanted to tie her to him for the rest of their lives and make her live as Madam Yang. He could easily force her to his wishes, bending her to his will as he liked. He could force her to never distance herself from him and force her to ask things from him, but he didn’t dare do that to her.

Yang Feng was scared one wrong movement was enough to push her away, so he decided this time, he would play the push-and-pull game on her.

"Fine. It’s just as you say." He gritted his teeth, grabbed his jacket and put on his shoes to leave.

Zhao Lifei was taken aback by his temper and frowned. Despite the fact that she knew she was in the wrong, she didn’t think he would actually leave instead of confronting her. Her sudden anger and pettiness flared from the fact that she saw Zheng Tianyi’s name on the phone screen.

Yang Feng knew Zheng Tianyi was her public enemy, yet he had a scheduled meeting with him?! Why would he side with her enemy? She scowled at the idea.

Angrily, he slammed the door behind him, walking out without a second glance or word.

"Hmph! Whatever, see if I care!" She stubbornly turned her head away from the door, crossing her arms and deciding to not think about him the entire time. She walked to her couch and mindlessly watched TV, then proceeded to lounge around her house in boredom.
