Chapter 44 Keen On Infuriating Him
Mr. Fang was speechless at her description. There has never been a time a tea's colour has been used instead of the taste to assure people to drink it. But for once, he wanted to have hope in her after shocking him.
As for the 'toasted' bread, there was no need to think that something like that was ever amongst his breakfast order.
Just as the tip of his tongue touched the tea, he hurriedly pulled the cup away from his lips and put it on the table with a thud. Next, he picked up a napkin and spat it into it with a twisted facial expression.
'Is the tea terrible?' Zhang Liling who was watching from the side thought to herself nervously.
Mr. Fang made sure to wipe his tongue properly before putting down the napkin. Glancing at the surprised Zhang Liling, he asked with a frown, "Did you taste this tea you made for me?"
"No, what is wrong with it? I didn't dare to have a taste!" Zhang Liling replied with a serious gaze.
How could she dare to have a taste of the tea she prepared for him? That would be as good as sharing the same cup with him.
'You don't dare to taste the poison you made?' Mr. Fang thought as he pushed the ceramic cup containing the tea to her side.
"Taste it!" He commanded in a cold tone that couldn't be refused and an icy glare directed at her.
Zhang Liling couldn't afford to complain or say anything because, given his facial expression, he looked unpredictable. Who knows if he would sack her?
With that thought, she quickly took the cup and brought it to her lips. The way Mr. Fang reacted was etched in front of her forehead, and with that little fear, she didn't dare take up a gulp. She sipped the tea and immediately regretted it.
She so badly wanted to throw it up, but that icy glare from Mr. Fang was so strong that she was forced to swallow the tea and force a smile at the end of it all.
That glare seemed to pass across a message that said, 'If you dare to throw that tea up, just see how I will deal with you!'
Forcing a smile, Zhang Liling didn't dare meet his gaze as she said in a humble tone, which expressed how sorry she was.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Fang, I must have mistaken the salt container for sugar. I will make you another cup of tea."
While attempting to put the 'breakfast' onto the tray she brought them in, she heard his menacing voice.
"You want to make me another cup of tea? Are you keen on poisoning me and infuriating me this morning?" Mr. Fang asked with furrowed brows.
For a minute, Mr. Fang was no longer sure if her main purpose was to infuriate him, or made a mistake because she didn't know how to cook and make a simple menu such as a light western breakfast.
Just how was she raised if she didn't even know how to make a simple breakfast? The way he is seeing things, he was sure that she was pampered while growing up.
Zhang Liling understood the doubts in his words and shuddered. She quickly tried to explain that she was very sorry and made terrible mistakes with his breakfast preparation because she didn't know how to cook.
She had only opened her mouth when he stopped her there.
"Take these things away and don't appear in front of me for the next 24 hours!" Mr. Fang said while clutching his forehead. His head was lowered while giving out that command, to prevent violence.
Zhang Liling hurriedly skipped away from the time being because she could sense he was a little unstable because of his emotions. She had to leave as he commanded although she still had some things to say to him.
She couldn't let him go on with that misconception he had about her right?
The veins on Mr. Fang's forehead were almost protruding from there, signalling the headache he was experiencing because of Zhang Liling.
Once her footsteps had finished retreating, he raised his head to glance in the direction she left, before shifting his gaze back to the empty table where his 'breakfast' was earlier placed.
Somehow amid his anger, he suddenly recalled that he couldn't perceive the salt in his tea. Normally, he wouldn't need to taste the tea before knowing it had salt instead of sugar in it.
Again, he glanced in the direction Zhang Liling had left from. 'Is her scent that powerful?'
He guessed the reason he couldn't find the fault in the tea without tasting it, was probably because she was standing beside him all along, and whenever she was by his side, his nostrils sensors will normalize.
Now, he was beginning to think if her scent was that effective.
Shifting his thoughts to the classes he had soon at NYU, he checked his wristwatch to see he had only an hour left. Gliding a palm across his stomach, he pushed his seat aside before getting up.
Mr. Fang made his way into the kitchen, which suddenly scared Zhang Liling out of her wits. His sudden presence after being scolded didn't sit well with the once infatuated Zhang Liling.
A spoon slipped out of her hand and landed on the floor when she saw him while scotting away. Mr. Fang glanced in her direction with furrowed brows and suddenly got annoyed.
He abandoned the coffee he came to prepare for himself before striding away. Zhang Liling sighed in relief before going back to continue washing the dishes.
At least there was something she knew how to do.
From the kitchen, she moved to Mr. Fang's bedroom to tidy it up before rushing to her bedroom to pick up her backpack. Any minute more she wasted, she was going to be late for her class, which happens to be the one Mr. Fang would be taking care of.
She has already managed to get in his back books at home, and that should stop there as she didn't have any plans of intentionally or accidentally provoking him.
