Chapter 33 Not Much Effect
Bolin returned to the office and happened to be a few minutes late. Luckily, Mr. Fang pretended not to notice and went on to assign him a task.
Shi Wenqian was currently in the hospital, staring daggers at her son, Zhang Mingyu.
"I have told you several times to stay out of fights, but you don't listen. When are you ever going to listen to the words I say?!"
Zhang Mingyu shifted his gaze and shrugged, "It's not like I started making troubles first."
Zhang Mingyu was laying comfortably on his hospital bed while his back was being supported by a pillow. He looked carefree like he didn't care if the world was on fire, and that was one thing that angered Shi Wenqian the most.
Having a son that didn't know his worth and utilize the opportunity before he brought no joy to a power-hungry mother like her.
"Whether you were at fault or not, why would you choose to get into a fight despite knowing your health condition? Are you tired of living, and don't you want to inherit your father's empire?"
Shi Wenqian was so mad that she felt like hitting him a few times. He doesn't listen to her and ends up getting into trouble and leaving his mess for her to clean up.
What was more annoying was the fact that he was taking this for granted.
Zhang Mingyu pouted and shifted his gaze to her, "Why are you afraid of Father knowing my health condition, it's not my fault. Also, shouldn't he be on tenterhooks trying to find a cure for me?"
He didn't understand the reason he had to hide his illness from his father, and he has come to a point where he wanted an explanation.
"Tenterhooks?" Shi Wenqian asked with an unbelievable expression on her face as she stepped closer to him. "You idiot! Your father would be on tenterhooks finding a replacement for your future position at the company once he finds out about it.!"
As Shi Wenqian scolded him, she ended up hitting him a few times, not giving him the chance to dodge at all. Zhang Mingyu could only scream while trying to get away from her.
Unfortunately for him, he couldn't move that far because his vein was still connected to a bag of drip. He could only stay in one place and receive a beating.
After sweating off a bit, Shi Wenqian let him off. It was just the two of them in the room, which was the perfect time to give him a warning.
"Mingyu, I did not pump my love and time into you, for you to turn out this way. One more foolish act from you, and your father might totally thrash you out and pick that girl up. Would you like what belongs to you to be given to another?"
Zhang Mingyu shook his head in a negative affirmation. Who would like what belongs to them to be given to another person?
"Good," Shi Wenqian looked better with his response.
"You have to show your father that you are worth his time. And what's this about you skipping classes again? Mingyu, the reason I allowed Zhang Liling to go to that prestigious university was so you could keep a close eye on her."
NYU School of Business is a prestigious university in Country S, and for Shi Wenqian who didn't like anyone related to the Song Jujing, there was no way she would want anything good for Zhang Liling.
The only reason she allowed her to get into that university, was so she could keep a close eye on her. Meeting Zhang Liling at first, she didn't know her personality, and as the daughter of her enemy, it was good as keeping a close eye on her enemy as well.
"The classes are mostly boring, and there is nothing special about my half-sister, we don't even speak to each other in school." Zhang Mingyu growled.
He looked pissed off because of that task given to him.
He was popular in school and girls couldn't help hovering around him because of his family background, but he believed that his good looks were a part of the attention he got, so how could he stoop so low to monitor someone that ignores his existence?
Shi Wenqian glared at him and pointed a finger at him, "I can't keep protecting, don't you dare blow up my cover, or I will take back that car I bought for you."
Her threat worked as the stubborn Zhang Mingyu behaved. How could he part with his expensive sports car that his father had refused to purchase for him?
Zhang Mingyu immediately started trying to get back on his mother's good books. He fawned over her and even offered to massage her shoulders.
"Enough!" Shi Wenqian said. Although there was an obvious frown on her face, she felt a bit relieved.
"What have I done wrong again?"
"You should act more mature if you are going to inherit your father's empire! And get dressed, you are coming home with me, your father felt your absence. I lied to him earlier, but it looks like it didn't have much effect."
Shi Wenwian said while taking a good look at him, he was ready to go home. The small injury on his face left a faint mark, which Zhang Renshu might not notice. At worst, it could be hidden with a concealer.
Zhang Mingyu dared not argue with his mother. He took his time getting dressed after the nurse came in to take off the needle from his vein. He was going home, and he couldn't wait to get in his car and go for a race next time.

"Sir, it's time to go home," Bolin announced while standing in front of the door.
Mr. Fang looked up from his laptop with a relaxed gaze. "What's the time?" He asked.
"7 pm," Bolin replied. He was sure that if he didn't come out to remind his workaholic boss, he probably wouldn't realize how long they have spent working.
"Is it that late?" Mr. Fang asked with a sigh. He was working on something really important and forgot to check the time.
Bolin helped himself in and walked straight to his desk to tidy it. Since it was already late, Mr. Fang consented to leave.
Zhang Liling spent the rest of her day taking lectures on housekeeping from the internet, not minding that she missed 2 lectures at school, and forgot to check her phone and respond to her mother's messages.
She was the same person that asked her mother to send her texts when she got to the airport and after boarding the flight, yet she forgot all about her because her job was at stake, and her life, was at risk.
When evening came, she immediately changed into another set of clothes and got ready for Mr. Fang's wrath.
She didn't worry so much about dinner because Bolin had called her earlier to notify her about Mr. Fang skipping dinner for the night, and only asked her to prepare what she and the butler would eat.
As for preparing what she and the butler would it, that wasn't going to happen. Since she didn't want to stress herself further not knowing what her fate would be when Mr. Fang returned, she asked the butler to suit himself.
The butler didn't expect that from her, given the way she was smiling so hard at him. This was her first day of work, and she was already starving him?
