Chapter 182 - Meeting With Security Division
Chapter 182 – Meeting With Security Division
"How long have I been asleep?" Anna looked around the command center. Mira was sleeping on the cold floor, Del was no better by sleeping on the command desk with a cup of coffee on his hand while Morris was nowhere to be found.
She looked at the temperature using the tool located next to the door. The temperature outside was -30 C. Anna would be lying if she didn't say that it was very damn cold. It was surprising that the tool cabinet stayed warm, even after the deadly blizzard last night.
Considering Sneggor though, -100 C was possible to happen there and anything outside would pretty much freeze. It had happened before, but Anna hadn't tried it yet. This was the coldest she had ever been, and he wouldn't venture outside with some cold weather gear.
Still, it was rather impressive to know what these two just pulled off. Going into the academy just for the sake of looking at documents during blizzard was probably out of the ordinary. Anna also had to attend a meeting as security division office today, the first person came there might be pissed to see their room filled with snow.
Anna would come to help them clean it up, besides, it should clear any suspicion from her if she came along. Anna could be a little persuasive, especially with her own reputation. Sometimes, people called her the bandaged menace at circumstances. Anna wouldn't even protest, in fact, she kinda liked that.
Anna felt a little bit pissed that she had to go to the school in the middle of weekend. It was not like there wasn't any time besides Sunday, eh? Anna went for her coat and went outside. She grabbed her rifle and a shovel. Why? With how the weather was, the snow would be very very thick.
The moment Anna opened the door, snow was as tall as half of her feet. How long did she had fall asleep? Anna begun to dump the snow elsewhere as she began to traverse outside of the command center. She would be lying if she said that the snow wasn't thick.
She kept digging through and made a small staircase so she could get to the top of the thick and icy snow. Its texture was similar to a slush, but way more solid. It seemed that Morris was gone, probably in his helicopter somewhere. Well, no easy transport to school then.
She could fly, but well, it would grab too much attention. It was better for her to walk, so she begun walking to the cabin. The cabin was covered in snow, but it was not as bad as the command center. Maybe it was because the material for the cabin was better, but who knew?
Anna entered the cabin and warm breeze was coming from the fireplace. Someone was here, probably Morris, who else? And yeah, it was Morris. He was sleeping near the fireplace with blankets covering his entire body. What an old man, Anna thought.
She walked towards her room to pick up something warm. She knew her coat wouldn't get her through the cold road, but wearing that cold weather uniform would give her identity away.
She then looked at the sterilized container on the side of the bed. 'Right…' she had to replace her bandages. She needed to wash herself first, though. It was not really something that she liked, particularly because it was painful for her. Well, nothing a painkiller would solve later.
Anna took off her clothes and started taking off her bandages before heading for the bathroom. Every layer that she took, every pain that she got. Still, months of enduring the pain made her used to the sensation.
===============
"Alright, that should be it." The dirty blood and sweat drenched bandage was in the trash can. The bandages had been replaced with something more sterile and cleaner now. But still, the pain was something. She took a tablet of painkiller from the drawer to subside it a bit.
Nothing was changing from her appearance. Maybe the black scar was gone, but she looked like someone without a skin as far as she considered. Her whole epidermis wouldn't grow again, thanks to the intensity of the burning. Her face was intact, well, kinda. Her vital organs were still working flawlessly, then again, it was the fleshy appearance all over her face.
She sighed, knowing that she wouldn't get the comfort of having a skin back. The bandages were like her second skin. It was reusable, she only needed to wash it and dip it in bleach to kill all of the harmful substances before drying it fully. After that, she could use the bandages again.
She wore her clothing, then her jacket and her winter boots. Usually, someone would provide breakfast in the meeting, or she could stop at the coffee shop to buy a donut. Well, anything would do at this point, it was not like Anna wanted to attend the meeting.
============
'Holy smokes…' The snow covering the security division office was really thick. Anna knew the reason why the snow was there, his brother and his mercenary was there last night, but she wouldn't tell anyone.
The look on the others said it all. Someone might start blaming at the last person leaving this room forgetting to close the window. Well, the meeting could be postponed for later and no one would be the wiser.
Besides, it was Sunday for God sakes. Why couldn't she enjoy the holiday? However, it looked like the leader of the security division had another idea. "Let's just move to another room and do the meeting there, how's that?"
Of course, everyone agreed with that. This leader couldn't accept the word "no". He only accepted the word "yes". As a result, every single bit of his suggestion must be followed by any means necessary. It was not something that Anna liked by any means. He just happened to have a leader like that.
They walked outside of the building and headed for the classroom. Anna was impressed, there was no trace that his brother was there. All of it would probably be covered in thick snow, and she doubted that Del would leave fingerprints on that room.
In the classroom, the leader started the meeting with the other members of the security divisions. To be honest, for Anna, these kids were not really someone who were fitting to be in the security division. Not because that they weren't competent, but they had more similarities with Salve Group in how they operate than Security Division.
They might get a job or two there, but well, who knew?
The first topic that was brought was none other than Aveline. Yup, Aveline, the head of the student council. Why did this person have so much beef against a seemingly innocent girl like Aveline. Then again, she was from the empire.
Basically, what he was trying to tell us was Aveline was a security threat for the academy and must be dealt with sooner or later. Well, Anna wanted to say that she would be gone, but she couldn't.
He repeatedly said that Daniel was a more dangerous enemy in this regard, even way more dangerous than Aveline herself. The backing of the fact seemed to be solid too, connecting the ties between Daniel and an unknown smuggler, probably Bosch. It was pretty much solid, but where did this boy find this information?
"And Anna, about your brother, are you sure he's not suspicious?"
This question again. Anna didn't want to answer it, but not answering would further make more questions. The best course of action was to answer with the current template answer that Anna always provided.
"He's not suspicious. We've talked about this before, and I'd probably give you the same answer."
Again, he was satisfied with that answer. Anna didn't know what kind of idea that this person had, but she certainly didn't like whatever idea was inside of his head. She wanted to make sure that he didn't suddenly put too much pressure on his brother.
Then, the meeting continued with the standard topics. They discussed about the current affair which was rather improving, thanks to the continuous support from the unknown party, which was the intelligence agencies in their heavy bombers.
The amount of kidnapping had also gone down significantly. Well, winter always left everyone inside anyway. Nobody would be crazy enough to kidnap anyone at temperature below -40 degrees, except for herself and her allies. After that, the meeting was over and all could go home.
It was just the routine to be honest, it didn't even take two hours. Well, she could go home now. Besides, with situation like the way it was, there was no reason to give a major military offensive. There might be a caveat though. Morris wanted her to be able to pilot a helicopter, both herself and Del.. It was also a necessity, somehow.
