Chapter 124 - Secret Mission
"Wait, let me reiterate something? You lost a document, and somehow, the document ended up in the hands of a teenager? How is that even possible? That sounds like a terrible joke," Del commented.
"Listen, here's the thing. Your eyes won't look at some hiding places that shouldn't even be possible. In this case, the document is in the hand of a student whose identity is not known right now. The problem is that neither the military nor the intelligence agencies can infiltrate a magical academy. That's where you come in.
"You two will search where the document is and give us back both the responsible teenager that was hiding it and the document itself. Do you have any question before I go into the details of things and operational procedure?" Walter asked.
It made sense, though. The idea of hiding a secret document on your own child was insane. However, the craziest idea had the chance to work, especially when the opponent was too rational or too naive to think that the enemy would do something like that. All in all, this plan was in favor of the imperial government.
"What's the intel is all about?" Del asked.
"The document is intelligence containing an unknown magical program and information about imperial military current objective. With this document, we might be able to turn the tides of the war."
"Unknown magical program? Can you please be more specific about that?"
"It's a magical program for psychic-type program. What can it do? I don't know. Just treat the teenager carefully. I heard its telekinesis, but I'm not so sure about that. The only evidence is the fact that some telekinesis accidents have happened often in here. Telekinesis is a rare magical program in the first place and the only people that would do mistakes like that are amateurs, get it?" Walter asked.
No, Del didn't get it at all. He hadn't been too long both in this world and in Ilbistirum. When he got bombarded with information like that, Del couldn't help but scratch his head with his hand. It was not something that he could understand easily. He needed more explanation about the threat that he would face.
"Telekinesis? You want us to walk into our death trap?"
"No, we choose you because you two are capable of it. If you two aren't capable of it, Salve Group won't even choose you in the first place," Walter explained his intention.
While Del was thinking about how he could deal with an enemy that could use telekinesis, Anna was making a cup of coffee using the coffee maker. It was not annoying, but it was definitely felt as if she didn't even care about that.
Telekinesis was an ability to move an object without any physical interaction, which meant that his enemy could attack him without even him knowing. Imagining it gave a chill to Del's mind. This teenager could be tenfold stronger than Eric. Eric had a non-supernatural advantage while his current enemy had one, which was the telekinesis ability.
How could he appear as an ally instead of an enemy to the person that he was searching for without him knowing where he should start searching in the first place. He didn't have too much intel about it.
"What is our target? Is it a she or a he? Is the target on the 10th grade or 12th grade? You are really glossing over the details here, Walter," Del protested.
"Well, the target is the same age as you, that's for sure. The kid is on the 12th grade and you will have a hard time to find her without any backup. There's a teacher, you can call him Elliot. He's a spy from the intelligence, just say to him that you need a private course with magical programming," Walter said.
"Alright, Elliot, huh?" Then Elliot was really his only source for information. There was no credible source left but Elliot. First thing first, he needed to meet him tomorrow and started asking for information about the teenager in particular.
Sure, Del could get the wanted teenager easily by putting everyone under pressure by faking a terrorist incident. Still, considering that place wasn't even a regular academy where the students held guns, the collateral damage would be too high for Salve Group. Besides, the wanted student could escape easily in the middle of the chaos.
"Yeah, Elliot, he's specialized in healing magic. You might like him, but his teaching method was a little bit out of the box if you force him to teach using his own method. Just remember this Del, if Elliot wants to teach you using his own 'method', just say no, got it?"
Del nodded in understatement. Healing magic, huh? Could it be that Elliot was also a doctor? It was possible since Cassandra was also an expert in healing magic. However, it was expected since Cassandra was a general surgeon instead of a regular doctor.
He couldn't wait to meet Elliot. He might be the person that would become his best friend in the future, although he was way older. Either way, the wanted teenager that he would be looking for could become his enemy or his friend. The latter option was preferred. He didn't feel too good about attacking someone with a telekinesis ability.
Anna sipped on her coffee, "Damn, this is one hell of a good coffee."
Del smiled in annoyance, "While I am thinking about avoiding ourselves from getting killed, you still have time to make coffee?"
"Yes."
"Ok, Anna, do you have any suggestion or revision for our plan? Or do you think our plan about hunting down this one special student is flawed?"
"Time will tell," Anna sipped on her coffee.
"That's quite a fancy way of saying 'I don't know'," Del commented.
"Yup." Anna nodded.
"That's all for me. The methods are up to you two, but don't screw this up, alright?" Walter put the marker on the whiteboard, and he walked out of the command center. Now, it was time to decide what kind of equipment that could be brought to the academy.
There were two kinds of uniforms that the school provided for both of them. One was a military uniform painted in white camouflage which was basically a white shirt and white pants. It was used for marksmanship tests, combat tests, or any physical test in particular. The other was an ordinary school uniform.
Overall, both were rather useful in their own regard. The rules on that academy about firearms were pretty lax. In fact, it was too lax. No rule prohibited him from bringing something like a Barrett M107 as long as the magazine was kept inside his backpack or pocket. Hell, he had an idea to bring a machine gun for the sake of intimidation. Still, perhaps, for now, an AK-74M would be more than enough to do its job.
The next stop was the body armor. A fully kitted body armor was certainly not an option since concealment was also necessary. He might be able to wear a plate carrier right beneath his shirt, and that would probably be it. Hopefully, no one would have to shoot him. For sidearm, his Five-seveN was more than enough.
The preparation was all done, he needed to get to the school tomorrow and that would be it. It was too early to formulate a plan about searching for the student. For now, he would just relax and enjoy the facility that the command center had to offer for him.
Anna was preparing all of the text books for her to bring tomorrow. She packed all of those text books into her backpack alongside with writing utensil such as a pencil and a pen. Other than that, nothing was out of the ordinary.
"Del, do you think your plan will work? I meant, we are depending on one man which was only a teacher in that academy? Would he be dependable enough for us so we can catch whoever we want to catch and bring him or her back to Walter?" Anna asked.
"I thought you didn't care at the plan."
"I do care, but not when Walter is around. I don't feel comfortable with him yet, the dude feels off, I'm not going to lie. He smells of deception," Anna said.
"He was a former special force operator, of course he would smell like deception. Anna, he is a trusted person, don't you worry too much about him. He was just an ordinary soldier from the Salve Group, so far, his treatment is better than what I previously expected."
"Yeah, he treats us that way because we pay Salve Group with Husnael Plates. We are VIP."
"Ok, Anna, that's enough.. Walter might smell fishy, but he is definitely our only ally in this region. Without him, where can we ask for intelligence or anything else? For now, let's just do what he wants us to do and we will decide what to do next, ok?"
