Modern Weapon Summoning System

Chapter 110 - Carcasses Of A Dead City

Del walked to the medical tent, wondering what had happened there. The answer came quickly when he saw Anna was standing next to a cylindrical tube as big as herself. The cylindrical tube was still dispensing high amount of yellow gas. The tube seemed to be pressurized as well.

Anna touched the tube with her hands, "I think this is the root of our problem, I find ten of these scattered around the entire town." The tube itself looked like an enlargened altilerry shell which was terrifying. The imperial military had some sort of super artillery in their arsenal. The artillery was able to strike targets this far into the federal territory. This would be troubles for federal military.

"Those bastards gassed these people, damn… why?" Del asked himself.

"I think imperial military is desperate, we need to retaliate," Anna said.

"How? We can't use nukes. Nukes are for our targets only. We don't use nukes just because of petty revenge. That thing is a weapon of mass destruction," Del said.

Anna looked annoyed, "How did you read my mind?"

"I have the feeling, I'm your brother, after all," Del said.

"What did you get at the command center?" Anna asked.

"Documents and Husnael plates," Del answered.

"Damn, how many plates were there?" Anna asked.

"Around twenty plates. In total, there is around 20,000,000$ for us. Overall, although the general is gone, we still have our payment," Del said.

"Nice, it looks like we manage to get the general's retirement funds," Anna said.

"Anyway," Del gazed the tube that dispensed the gas, "Is there any way to disable this gas dispersing device without blowing it up?" Del asked as he poked at the tube using his finger.

Looking at it again, the tube didn't have any valve or something, there would be no way to disable that thing. Blowing it up would just risk them all of being exposed to an even bigger concentration of mustard gas. It was better to leave it untouched.

"Nope, I can't think of a way to disable it. I shook the container earlier and I concluded that the content of this container is liquid. I don't know the exact content, but it could either be the material for mustard gas or a concentrated mustard gas in the form of liquid. Either way, any tampering to this tube will result in more gas exposed in the air, and perhaps, spreading the gas much further," Anna explained.

Del nodded. He decided not to tamper the tube. He continued his looting. The next stop would be the medical tent. If there weren't any dead bodies of the MSVI, it would be safe to say that they managed to escape the hell that imperial soldiers had just created. Del opened the flap of the medical tent.

The tent was… empty. There was no medical equipment. All that were left inside of the tent were several IV bottles and beds. There were nothing salvageable from that medical tent. Everything had been contaminated by the mustard gas. However, it also meant that the MSVI managed to escape Moruguri. Where were they? Del had no idea.

"They must have retreated, huh?" Anna grabbed a cupboard that was laying on the ground. The place was left hastily. Bandages and supplies were laying on the ground alongside with other medical items such as bandages and syringes.

"Yeah, I think the officers of the medical unit had basic common sense that it was the time to move away from Moruguri with their patients. Anyway, I don't think there's anything salvageable in this town," Del said as he immediately left the tent.

Moruguri had been turned into a ghost town. There was nothing that could be done to the ruined town. It was time to leave the town. Del climbed to the car, but as he wanted to open the door, his ears noticed something.

It was a knocking sound. To be precise, it was a knocking sound that was usually produced when someone banged wood with their hands. Wait, was there any survivor of this attack? Del thought as he aborted his intention to enter his car. He immediately disembarked form his car and ran towards the direction of the knocking sound.

The knocking sound turned into loud banging. As Del ran, Anna was wondering why his brother suddenly dashed to the direction of one of the ruined buildings. Nevertheless, she followed him by walking instead of running.

Del searched through the rubble for the source of that loud banging. "Anna, get another gas mask! There should be one inside of the car," Del said. Del immediately dashed towards one of the ruined buildings that he suspected housed a survivor.

He walked around the building while keeping his ears sharp. Eventually, he managed to find the source of that loud banging noise. The source of that loud banging noise was coming from a place none other than a cellar. Del banged the wooden door of the cellar with his foot, "DON'T OPEN THE DOOR! THERE'S A GAS ATTACK!"

A voice replied, "Who are you? Are you from the federal military?"

"YES! WHO ARE YOU? ARE YOU FROM THE MILITARY?" Del shouted back.

"No, I'm just a civilian, please help me… the door is stuck…" The voice became weaker and it made him worry.

Anna eventually came to him with a gas mask that was put inside of its sealed carrier. Del gave a command to the civilian, "Hold on, I will open this wooden door. Hold your breath! The gas will kill you if you don't do that! STAND AWAY FROM THE DOOR!"

"I under—" The voice was cut off.

Del immediately grabbed the handle of the door to that cellar. Oh boy, the door was very heavy. Del put all of his effort and the door didn't even bulge. Who would put a heavy-ass door inside of a cellar? The person was just insane. The door was reinforced with an abundant amount of steel. No wonder why it was so heavy.

"Anna, I need a hand," Del said.

Anna helped Del to open that heavy cellar door. They immediately came inside of the cellar and searched for the survivor. The survivor was laying down on the ground, probably weak from the gas exposure.

Del approached the survivor and he immediately put the gas mask on the survivor's face. That moment, he noticed the person that he just rescued. It was none other than Alina, Cole's sister. What did she do inside of this cellar?

He could ask those questions later, it was better to carry her to the MRAP immediately and get out of the town as soon as possible. They needed to wash Alina from the contaminant too. Time was not their friend. Del carried Alina on his back and he immediately dashed out of the cellar.

"Anna, open the back of the MRAP, this girl must be transported immediately," Del said as he ran towards the car.

Anna ran faster than Del and she opened the back door of the MRAP. Del immediately put Alina's body on the back of the MRAP and he immediately closed the door. He then climbed to the driver's seat of the MRAP and waited for Anna to enter the MRAP. He then turned on the NBC feature of the car and drove away from the town.

The mustard gas became thicker and thicker instead of dissipating. The tube that the Imperial military threw at them must have been the perpetrator of the thickening. Meanwhile, he was worried about Alina's condition.

If Cole lost his sister, it would be catastrophic. Cole was no different than him. He also loved his sister because there was no one else left in his family. Cole was also in the military, he had an idea on the amount of rampage that he would do if his sister got killed. With Alina on his hand, Del had the chance of preventing that from happening.

"What should we do with Cole's sister? I don't have any idea on treating a person after being attacked by a chemical weapon," Anna commented as she looked behind at Alina.

"Well, first of all, we must clean all of the contaminants inside of her body which meant we must strip all of her clothing, rinse her eyes, etc. Well, I think you get my idea. My point is that she shouldn't have any trace of mustard gas or blisters would appear," Del answered.

Anna didn't know where Del had that kind of knowledge, she didn't recall that Del had an experience against a chemical attack, "Where did you learn all of this? I am sure as hell that school doesn't teach us this kind of things."

"Well, if you ask me, I was taught by our science teacher. The main reason is because students can experiment with dangerous things that might kill them. And as you know, I'm also one of the people that you can find in the infirmary, so… yeah," Del said.

After the explanation, Del focused his attention of getting out of the yellow cloud.
