Chapter 698 - Speed vs. Speed

Chapter 698: Speed vs. Speed

Within a short half an hour, the fearless challenge initiated by the Fallen Angels against the Ten Great Leagues was made known everywhere in the Angel Faction.

As more players joined the parade, the initially hesitant parties were also carried away by the alluring crusade heading toward Black Flame Valley.

Presently, more and more players had forgotten about the rewards and simply joined due to the fact that it was perhaps the largest in-game event (albeit non-official) that had ever been launched by the players.

The number of participants were astoundingly immense.

Fireseal City had never been so packed before. If the players did not immediately leave the city for Black Flame Valley, the Warp Portal and city wall might have long been pushed past its limit and would have collapsed.

It was also unprecedented that this city accommodated more players than the great Moonrise City. Beyond the city gate, the entire plain was occupied by a dense crowd. In the air, players capable of flying had formed a massive procession that resembled a giant arrow.

The mood inside the crowd was reaching its boiling point.

With that being said, many players were awestruck by the spectacular scenery. Most of them implicitly believed that today would mark the downfall of the Fallen Angels if they were unable to address this giant hurdle properly. Even if the League were to deploy all of its 50,000 elite members, they would still be heavily outnumbered against the large majority of the Angel Faction.

Halfway between Black Flame Valley and Fireseal City, a group of dark spots emerged and approached from the horizon.

“They are coming. Prepare for battle!”

As the Clan Leader of Violent Army, Dinosaurcerer conveyed the battle strategy to the sixty Demigod Champions behind him in great detail. A Barrier was immediately seen on every Elementalist. The Summoners executed Beastform Fusion, while the Priests were occupied with Buffs distribution. Players from other classes also held tight to their weapons anxiously.

“What a huge crowd. Looks like it’s time for slaughter!” They knew that they were about to face the primary attacking troops from the Ten Great Leagues. They were expecting about five thousand enemies to come through the air route first.

On their side, Dinosaurcerer was peeking at the Chimera squad who couldn’t wait to run over their enemies, assembled neatly behind him.

This formation encompassed of 870 combatants made up the entire Violent Army. Though the enemy would probably outnumber them by a ratio of 5 to 1, it was still hard to tell who would have the upper hand when the fight ensued.

However, a piece of baffling news had greatly upset Dinosaurcerer.

“What?”

‘Million...?’

It seemed that approximately one million players were swarming toward Black Flame Valley at the moment. The air troops consisting of tens of thousands of players were going to reach them in less than ten minutes. The ground troops were also expected to reach the battlefield soon, probably within twenty minutes.

Qin Ruo’s instructions came through rapidly.

While listening, Dinosaurcerer wasted no time and hastily ordered his troops, “All players from Level 56 to 60, return to the city immediately! Do not ask questions, and just do as I say!”

He didn’t have much time to explain, so he authoritatively prohibited his confused comrades from asking any questions and forced half of the Chimera squad to retreat immediately.

As the radiant glow from the Return Scroll lit up continuously, Dinosaurcerer brought along other Demigod members to hide in the forest beneath them.

“Dino?” The other members were curious, as they saw the grim Dinosaurcerer began to outline a hexagram with his feet as soon as he landed on the ground.

‘What’s the matter?’

‘Who does he plan to summon so urgently?’

‘Don’t tell me it’s the League Master...’

In a flash, several familiar figures appeared beside Dinosaurcerer.

“Eh?”

“It’s you guys!”

“Why are you all here?”

Those coming out from the Warp Portal were all members of the ten-player party that had taken part in the quest to the Graveyard of the Gods.

Violet Orchid, Black Rock, Subjugator, Burning Rose, Wandering Soul, Xin Yu, Little Arrow, Subjugator, and Qin Ruo himself had all arrived!

“Tsk. Don’t get me started. That bunch of incapable players that went to Blackscale Canyon were obviously cannon fodder. Brother Slayer is taking charge over there now.”

“The terrain at Chimera’s Nest is rather unique. With Xiao Xiao as commander and with thirty Demigod Champions supporting her, I believe they shouldn’t have too much trouble.” Violet Orchid and Subjugator’s reassuring explanation lifted a weight off their minds.

However, words from Black Rock rocked them off their feet once again. “According to Qin Ruo, the Ten Great Leagues have consolidated most of their main forces coming this way. A million of them! How are we going to handle such a great force with just a few of us?”

***

Qin Ruo’s mind was still clouded as he walked out from the Warp Portal.

He paid a quick glance to all of his comrades. After Black Rock briefed the others about the current situation, he and Dinosaurcerer simultaneously retrieved several Sealed Cores from their waists and passed one of each to Xin Yu, Permanent Lock, and Gold Digger Babe.

Then, he hastily explained what he wanted the three Bandits to do. Hearing this, his comrades were obviously amazed by his quick-witted plan and were left open-mouthed.

Qin Ruo then turned to instruct the Priest...

After the arrangements were made, they immediately heard an emergency alert delivered by the Chimera Troop.

“They are closing in fast!”

The party was slightly flabbergasted.

Qin Ruo rapidly changed his appearance into an ordinary Aquamancer.

“Let’s go! We need to finish this speedily!”

“Roger that!” The group flexed their wings and dashed out of the forest at the same time.

Meanwhile, Xin Yu, Permanent Lock, and Gold Digger Babe stayed back in the forest. They nodded to each other while their bodies began to faint away rapidly among the woods. They were gone in the blink of an eye.

“Get into formation!”

The scout of the Ten Great Leagues had seen the Chimera Troop from afar. The monster-sized troops were clearly blocking their path to the Black Flame Valley. Those in front of the parade gradually slowed down to regroup with players from behind.

Though they had the absolute advantage in numbers, they knew exactly what Fallen Angels were capable of after the gruesome fight in Black Flame Valley.

One thousand Fallen Angels had turned defeat into victory in that hopeless situation and had all the intruders killed. Even though most of the players in the current crusade did not participate in that previous battle, they were still largely daunted by the formidable strength of the Fallen Angels. This was because those defeated in the hands of the Fallen Angels were some of the most elite fighters in their respective Leagues.

Nevertheless, they arrived with great confidence in this round. The first team amounting to more than 6000 players were embedded with at least 1000 winged players. Among them, included nearly 200 Demigod Champions who were the top talents of the Ten Great Leagues.

They were the trump card of the Ten Great Leagues, which was also their final resort.

This was especially true when the Fallen Angels were forced to fight in three regions simultaneously which greatly segregated their Demigod manpower. The 200 Demigod Champions from the Ten Great Leagues alone would be a huge nightmare to the Fallen Angels currently holding up at Black Flame Valley.

Not to mention the players that were snowballing from the back! There were hundreds of thousands of players, including the ones from the Ten Great Leagues as well as members from numerous clans and parties of the Angel Faction.

Even the reinforcements from the Five Great Leagues were unable to bail the Fallen Angels out this time.

“My comrades, here’s the order from our League Leader.” Several sonorous and exciting sounds could be heard within the expanding formation. “We are going to end this speedily!”

“First up, all Tier 6 players, Summoners, and flying pets!!”

“Tier 5 winged players, get ready down there!”

All Tier 5 winged players from the group replied in devotion and dived toward the forest, while the remaining players charged imposingly toward Qin Ruo’s party and the Chimera Troop which were behind them.

Hearing the faint yelling from the other side, Subjugator turned back abruptly and grinned toward Qin Ruo. “Do all League Leaders like to do things speedily?”

While he talked, Homme Fatale calmly flew forward and overtook him to take the furthest position up front.

Sensing Fatale’s movement and the violent magical fluctuation surrounding him, Subjugator flicked his eyebrows and called out anxiously, “Fatale, let me go first.”

“It doesn’t matter who strikes first. We are going to give our best shot anyway.”

“No... it does matter!” Subjugator quickly regained the position over Homme Fatale.

The next second saw a great flame burning through the sky beside Homme Fatale.

Homme Fatale frowned and sheepishly backed down.

He was no match to the Ignis Swordmaster, who now owned a full set of Demigod Equipment from the tenth level of Graveyard of the Gods.

Qin Ruo looked at the two of them and ordered monotonously, “Subjugator first, then Fatale, last...” He turned his head sideways toward Burning Rose, who was covered by a white layer of magical barrier and was hovering on his left.

“The three of you are in charge of taking out all the Demigod Champions.”

“Okay!” Burning Rose nodded enthusiastically.

‘Attack!!!’

***

“F*ck!”

“Why is he here?”

As soon as the flaming god of war image of Subjugator appeared in their vision, some of the players were immediately stunned. These happened to be redeployed from Blackscale Canyon just a while ago.

Over ten players halted in midair and shouted hysterically...

“Split up, quick! Beware of the Ignis Swordmaster’s Tier 6 AoE!”

However, the distance of less than one hundred meters between the two confronted parties were covered in a matter of seconds...

Five sword-shaped flares instantly boiled the surrounding air and brutally encapsulated the enemies who were unable to escape in time.

At the same time, more than ten spells were shot out rapidly from the opposite side.

Whoosh!

The silent flares directly turned about a hundred players into ashes. Among the deceased, at least thirty of them were of Demigod Tier.

The earth-shattering strike petrified the players right outside of the AoE range. Some of them lost nearly 2000 HP simply by lightly scraping the flares. There was no way anyone could have survived the attack head-on.

Promptly, several Demigod Players from both sides disappeared from their original spots at the same time.

Teleport versus Teleport!

All of a sudden, the battle had intensified to its most vicious climax!
