Chapter 641

Chapter 641: Violet Rattelyr Gauntlets; Divine Specter

As the Fallen Angels, carrying the hopes and anticipations of countless players, commenced Project Pioneer in the Underworld, the Casanova’s Trading Hall’s Grand Auction had also begun in the Mythical Continent.

After the system message loudly announced the commencement of the auction, players were then able to check the merchandise that was listed and compare their prices, Tiers, and Grades!

There were over ten thousand Blue-tier items, thirty thousand Gold-tier items, and two thousand Dark Gold tier items. Of course, there were also the Legendary tier equipment, which amounted to a total of five hundred and eighty six pieces on the list!

And that was not all...

There were Divinity Crystals!

Mana Cores of various Elements, Enchantment Gems, smithing materials, herbs, potions, Magic Scrolls, Skill Books, Accessories, and many more. The vast quantity and wide variety of the listed items were unimaginable!

And each item had a minimum auction price too. As long as a player had the funds, he or she could participate in the auction. The method of participating in the Grand Auction was so easy that it was foolproof.

***

Due to the relative “peace” around Camp Edgar in the first few hours after the commencement of Project Pioneer, Qin Ruo had concluded that everything was under control thus far. Therefore, he summoned the Auction List after the Grand Auction had started to browse at the Legendary equipment, Dark Gold accessories, Magic Scrolls, and Skill Books.

Browsing through the pages of listed items, it seemed everything went, unfortunately, as Qin Ruo had expected...

Although there were plenty of items on the “Legendary” page, there was nothing that Qin Ruo, an Aquamancer, found useful. Not only that, there wasn’t anything that caught his eye too on the Dark Gold accessory list. Buying these would be a waste of his money.

The only thing that piqued Qin Ruo’s interest was a Skill Book—”Slime Manipulation Spell”—which cost around eight hundred thousand gold coins.

This was merely a Tier 2 Aquamancer Magic Skill Book.

According to its description, the Spell wouldn’t deal any sort of damage—its only use was to manipulate the Water Elements and turn them into gooey slimes, which could slow the movement and attack speed of the affected targets by 25 to 50%.

The effect of the Spell was quite interesting.

Usually Magic Spells would have standardized stats for their effects and damage. Yet, this “Slime Manipulation Spell” had a huge deviation between its highest and lowest percent of its “slow” effect. This was quite unheard of. Qin Ruo felt that to maximize its effects, it would require the user to be masterful with the spell.

Of course, that wasn’t the only thing that interested Qin Ruo.

If he were to slow down a target’s movement speed, Qin Ruo could do it better with his freezing spells—which could rob the target off of its ability to move entirely. Other than that, as an Aquamancer, he also possessed equipment that had attributes that could boost his freezing spells too.

However...

This Tier 2 spell was quite easy to use—due to the short amount of time for the slime to form, when used together with the gears on him, he could cast them almost instantaneously. With the right method, this spell could be quite useful. Well, at least, it would definitely show its value when dealing with the Classes that were other than the Elementalists.

Looking at the price of the “Slime Manipulation Spell” skill book that had remained static from the start, Qin Ruo made a note to come back for it later and turned his attention elsewhere.

Magic Scrolls...

The Casanova’s Trading Hall wasn’t disappointing at all when selling these babies. On top of the Magic Scroll Auction Page, there were Magic Scrolls that granted Teleportation for all seven Elements. Qin Ruo was impressed—he wondered how Casanova had collected all these.

And due to their eye-catching spot on the Auction Page, these Teleportation Scrolls, the scrolls that Elementalists often used to save their lives, had its bidding price from fifty thousand gold coins to eighty thousand gold coins...

After taking a glance at his bank savings, Qin Ruo pondered for a moment before placing his one hundred fifty thousand gold-coin bid on each seven Magic Scrolls. Then, he moved on to other items on the auction list.

One hundred fifty thousand gold coins for each consumable item. If he could acquire these it would surely help saving several lives in his League when the time came. After all, after reaching Level 50 and above, each death could cost ungodly amount of Experience Points—they would lose days of work each time they died. And the time they needed to get all the Experience Points back could all be used to acquire the gold that Qin Ruo had spent earlier.

Yet, these Magic Scrolls were still consumable items. It would be unwise of him to continue bidding more on these.

Finally, Qin Ruo set his eyes on the most valuable item on Casanova’s Grand Auction...

The Violet Rattelyr Gauntlets.

The Violet Rattelyr Gauntlets could grant its user the ability to absorb 20% Water Damage...

Seeing this, Qin Ruo frowned as he rubbed his temples, calculating what this meant to him.

This thing could grant its user a whopping 20% absorption of Water Damage. If the user had two pieces of the same set, the Pyromancer could negate an Aquamancer’s attacks by adding a few more layers of Barriers. Aquamancers would become powerless against a foe like this...

And of course, this included Qin Ruo himself!

Damn it...

The Demon Faction had many Pyromancers, who were Level 54 and above. If there weren’t much hindrance, these rascals could advance to Tier 6 in just a month’s time...

The Demon Faction wouldn’t let go of this Demigod equipment after going through the humiliation in the Grand Tournament!

Qin Ruo frowned as he realized just what kind of foes he had meet in just a month’s time. Quickly, he laid his eyes on the price of the gauntlets and his heart sank yet again.

The one-billion-gold-coin Violet Rattelyr Gauntlets had now been bid up to two billion and a thousand gold coins in just a few minutes! As time grew, its price was raised higher and higher. The bidding war seemed to be going strong.

“I’ll need to gain more levels.”

Qin Ruo, for the first time, felt an enormous desire to gain more levels as a string of discomfort struck his heart.

Even though he was able to kick all the Demon Faction players from the Top Ten spot in the Grand Tournament using the Black Flame Steeds, disabling them to get their hands on the Demigod gears, Qin Ruo knew that there were many high-level players amongst their ranks—Savior and Sinistress would soon advance to Demigod Tier in a short time too!

Many high-level Demon Faction players had taken up almost all the spots on the Top Thousand rankings on the Leveling Leaderboard. They could very well advance to Demigod Tier quicker than the Angel Faction.

And coincidentally, that time period was during the time when Moonrise and Sin City both lost their system protections...

If the Angel Faction couldn’t get their levels pushed up quickly, another siege on the Moonrise City would certainly come again! And this time, the invaders—the Demon Faction would come steaming with wrath and fury that no one had ever seen before!

Once they had acquired the “Natural Divinity”, these rascals could easily gain air superiority in Moonrise City’s air space.

It wouldn’t matter if they had a hundred Winter Demons on their side, the Angel Faction would be wrecked when they had lost control of their own air space.

“Spades.”

“Clan Leader? What’s up?” Ace of Spades’ soothing voice could be heard from the other side of the chat. Her voice was filled with joy and thrill. Like the other Fallen Angels, after the commencement of Project Pioneer, waves after waves of Experience Points that were showering down into her EXP Bar had overwhelmed her with euphoria.

“Get me some men... Erm, I need four Pyromancers and four Solarmancers.”

“Roger!”

Hearing this, Ace of Spades understood that even her Clan Leader was eager to grind for Experience Points too.

Pyromancers and Solarmancers could grant a party tremendous amount of damage, speeding up the process of killing specters. When having eight of these damage dealers on his side, Experience Points would surely, like a dam being blown up, come flowing furiously.

The Fallen Angels weren’t short of men defending the camp too. There were many more Fallen Angels waiting in the back, eager to get some action.

In just a few minutes, Ace of Spades was able to send the people Qin Ruo needed to him as he flew back into Camp Edgar. He needed to get some supplies from Yaegar—eighty bottles of Fire and Light Attribute Boosters for his new teammates.

After getting everything sorted, the Pyromancers and Solarmancers squeezed into the defense line and gulped down their Attribute Boosters and then, hurled waves and waves of AoE Magic Attacks at the oncoming Undead Hordes. As for Qin Ruo, he quickly contacted Xiaoxiao to come over. They both sat comfortably behind the frontline, sharing the constantly incoming Experience Points gained from the eight Elementalists, while carefully sending out orders to command the troops in various defense lines. While observing the movements of the Undead Horde, Qin Ruo was also paying keen attention to the Grand Auction.

As the Fallen Angels were holding the line, hundreds of Artisan NPCs were also swinging their hammers and tools, carefully crafting the city.

***

Several hours later...

Yaegar’s grim anxious voice suddenly rang in Qin Ruo’s ears.

“Listen up, Qin boy! Edgar wants me to warn you this... “It” has arrived. If you retreat now, you might still be able to save some of your men!”

“It?”

As Qin Ruo was about to level up to Level 55, Yaegar’s words spooked him. After the excitement of grinding for Experience Points worn out, Qin Ruo finally regained his composure.

“It’s a Divine Specter. This thing has great intelligence, hunting us for over forty years in the Underworld. The three of us, we stood no chance against this monster. All we could do was flee...”

“Retreat with your man, or not. It’s up to you, Qin boy.”
