Chapter 864 Four Pillars: Truths Revealed
Chapter 864 Four Pillars: Truths Revealed
Taking Valyr's silence as confirmation after that, Vaughn let out a wide sigh of relief as his body slightly sunk into the floor they were sitting on.
Giving himself some time to compose himself, the man took in a deep breath before proceeding to speak. "Let me introduce myself again."
"My name is Vaughn Darkstar."
"I am the owner of the Four Pillars' Inheritance, and I was once called the last leader of humanity."
"I am also the one to recreate humanity from scratch through the memories you saw, which ultimately had something to do with an event called the Great Cataclysm."
"Aside from that, I am also Otto Zeihardt, the founder of the Zeihardt clan, as well as the one who established the Zeihardt Sovereignty."
Listening to the man's introduction once more, Valyr briefly felt a sense of dissonance because of his earlier knowledge regarding the man.
However, with him quickly reminding himself that Vaughn had sworn a veridical oath, as well as showed what seemed to his original face, that feeling of dissonance swiftly disappeared.
Closing his eyes for a bit to give himself some time to wrap his head around the situation, Valyr eventually looked at Vaughn once more after letting out a long sigh.
Then, going over the multiple questions that had accumulated in his mind throughout his entire journey in the inheritance, the young man soon began to ask him his questions.
"Why did you only decide to reveal your identity as the First Forger now?"
"Don't you think it would've been more suspicious if I were to have said that from the get-go?" replied Vaughn, to which Valyr soon nodded in agreement.
"Then, there you have it. In any case, I wanted you to collate information during your journey in the inheritance and arrive at your own conclusions before getting to this point."
"Were you the one who gave me access to those memories back when I was still going through the Gates of Enlightenment's trials?" asked Valyr not long after, feeling like it was a good continuation of the topic.
Surprisingly, Vaughn shook his head at the question. "That was all the Triad Gates. If anything, I only put in the condition that the Triad Gates would give a talented Zeihardt access to that memory if they took up the blacksmithing profession."
"Who knew it'd be close to a hundred thousand years before a descendant with the profession would enter this place." At those words, the man shrugged his shoulders.
Nodding in response, Valyr went silent for a bit as the gears in his mind turned to come up with another question. "Since you're the owner of the Four Pillars' Inheritance, it would be safe to assume that you're the one who created the Triad Gates, right?"
"Would've definitely been harder to do something like this if I didn't," replied Vaughn with a nod. "Though somewhat advanced technology allowed humans to finally have a spot on Veldanyr for themselves, it was ultimately something that shouldn't have fallen into their hands just yet."
"Especially with how many people with nefarious intent existed at the time," continued the man, faintly shuddering at the thought.
"Why settle for the Late Middle Ages in terms of technological advancement?" asked Valyr after that. "Why not choose a more advanced technological age as a foundation to fight against the orcs?"
Correcting himself that the technology resembled something that was more along the lines of the early First Industrial Revolution, the young man's eyes widened in realization as Vaughn looked at him with a knowing smile.
"I've already told you the answer. It's ultimately something that shouldn't have fallen into their hands just yet," said Vaughn with confidence. "Plus, the amount of resources alone needed to outfit a massive army like that with weapons and armor from a more advanced age is incredibly difficult to procure without the necessary foundation."
"Much less the machinery and other tools instead to fabricate such items in the first place." Vaughn faintly sighed. "Hence, I settled for faux First Industrial Revolution since it was doable with medieval-level tools and machinery."
Feeling that the man's explanation made a lot of sense, Valyr decided to give Vaughn a quick break since the latter had been answering his questions all this time.
At the same time, the young man took the opportunity to go over the other questions he had yet to ask Vaughn, such as the peculiarities he'd noticed in the memory. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Of course, while mulling over the questions, he also thought about the information he'd obtained from Ryvrthe regarding the human civilization that existed before the advent of the current humanity.
'Should I ask about the Great Cataclysm?' pondered Valyr for a bit, wondering if now was the right time to ask about it.
In the end, he decided to continue with his original string of questions, considering the fact that it would eventually lead the topic towards the Great Cataclysm either way.
After all, with Vaughn not only being the last leader of humanity, but also the one that founded the new generation of humanity, it was possible for Valyr to obtain a far larger picture that connected both eras as one.
With that in mind, the young man steered the topic of their conversation towards the peculiarities he'd noticed in the memories involving the First Forger.
Naturally, he mentioned the fact that the man seemingly knew when the system would come or when it would update, or the fact that his body seemed impervious to injuries while also bolstering a great amount of strength.
Keeping an eye on the man's reaction, Valyr felt a hint of satisfaction as Vaughn faintly smiled in response.
"There's actually one answer that answers all of the questions you've asked just now," said Vaughn with a faint chuckle. "In fact, I was planning to share it with you at some point, but I just didn't know how I would shift our conversation to it."
"I should really thank you for making my life easier this time around." Vaughn let out yet another chuckle.
Then, with conviction in his every movement, the man did a few gestures with his fingers, causing both his and Valyr's consciousness to be brought into the world of darkness once more.
"With all of that said, I'll let you take a look at the answer to all your questions."
"The time before the Great Cataclysm."
