Chapter 7
Ren jumped with joy.
He really attained first blood!
Ren composed himself after seconds, and he pressed while a grin never left his face. Announcing his achievements would only get him in trouble in the future.
He wasn’t after the fame. He was after the money.
The reward chest appeared together with fireworks booming in the sky accompanied by a melodic voice of a female together with the appearance of a large screen that said;
[CONGRATULATIONS to player **** for being the first to complete the quest, GOBLIN EXTERMINATION!]
The next thing that exploded was the World Chat box.

In [World Chat] you have to make an account to send a message and you have the privilege of entering a deferent username and even had the choice to change it –– for a price, of course.
Ren ignored the chatter. His attention was on the rewards. COVENANT made a special spell or skill exclusive only to that one person who managed to get the very first blood, and the spell/skill was usually dependent on your race and class.
Ren remembered a thread once about the lucky guy who attained the very first blood. He said that it was the reason why he had a god-like character. He was TOP 2 in rankings of strongest solo players.
Ren’s stomach churned, and he felt like pooping. He rubbed his sweaty hands against his clothes and opened the one-of-a-kind [Crystal Chest].
Whatever was inside a [Crystal Chest] meant that it was the only item that existed in the entire game. It was so valuable that Ren would instantly become a millionaire if he sold it later in the game.
But he’d rather use it now because whatever was inside that chest would surely land him even more money in the long run.
Opening the chest, a notification popped up.
[OBTAINED:
❶ Skill book x1 ]
Ren pressed , and there were particles of white light glowed in his entire body.
He then checked his skills.

❶ Mana Conversion LV.1 (Passive)
–– 10% replenish mana upon a successful hit
‖ E N D ‖
Mana Conversion?
Ren didn’t know about that kind of spell even within the years he gathered information about the game. But a 10% mana replenish upon successful attack meant that as long as he hit his target, his MP would regenerate.
Such an OP skill!
And it could be level up too!
Mana was essential to cast spells and skills. And for Ren’s class that relied heavily on spells/skills –– it was abso-fucking-lutely perfect for him!
With this, he didn’t have to buy many potions and mana potions in the future! Saving him tons of money!
No!
That was not even the most important. The important thing was, he could use skills and spells nonstop without worrying about his MP!
In COVENANT, you can recover your HP and MP by certain spells, consuming potions and foods, or resting in inns.
Ren was ecstatic! It was definitely worth it to get the very first blood. But it was not the time to bask in his happiness, for the other players would appear soon.
Ren didn’t care about getting the first blood on other quests anymore. Though their rewards were great, he could get or buy them later in the game, unlike when he attained the very first blood in COVENANT, where the spellbook was one of a kind that you could only get one time.
For now, his priority was the hidden chests inside this Newbie Village. One beside a giant tree near the barn, and another was hidden beside the Mayor’s house.
They contained [Health Potions x5] and [Mana Potions x5]. They weren’t remarkable, but now Ren didn’t have to buy those potions in the shops. Saving him hundreds of Gils.
Every strategy to save money was one step away from being a millionaire. Ren thought.
[Health Potions] and [Mana Potions] cost 25 Gil and 50 Gil, respectively. When the in-game conversion was introduced, that would be $25 and $50! Not much, but ten of them would already be $500!
Ren picked up the pace when he noticed that other players were already present. He only spared the others the barest glance when he passed by them and proceeded to his next quest.
The others ignored him entirely as they skipped and jogged towards the NPCs hoping to acquire their first quest. Ren blended perfectly well in the crowds, and everyone didn’t suspect that he was the one who acquired first blood.
And it was not like the others could ask the NPCs around on who acquired the first blood. The NPCs were programmed not to disclose any information regarding the players—another privacy perk of the game.
