Chapter 66 - Genius of the Spell School
Chapter 66: Genius of the Spell School
The Sword Qi at Fike’s fingertips spread out, freely roaming the stage.
Although his display had already seemed extremely lethal to others, in reality, his current exertion was not even 10% of his full strength.
“Hey, kid, I’ll start to get serious now. I was just afraid of hurting you just now!”
Blue said stubbornly.
A thick ring of smoke suddenly diffused throughout the battleground, hiding Blue.
“Another trick? It looks like you only know cheap tricks.”
Fike quickly pinned down Blue’s location by sensing the currents in the air.
In the time that he spent training by the Fairy Lake, Fike had learned to speak to the winds.
As such, he could perceive the enemy’s position simply by sensing the displacements in the airflow.
As long as his opponent moved, or even twitched just a little, he would sense it. The Sword Qi at his fingertips would then make short work of the enemy.
However, this was just a sparring match.
Although his mouth was foul and rude, Blue didn’t deserve to die.
Fike noticed that Blue’s current position was slowly shifting away from him, and made a deduction.
‘From the looks of it, he probably wants to make a short sprint. The momentum would allow the power of his attack to be much higher than before.’
Sure enough, a sharp figure sliced through the smoke toward him instantaneously.
Blue seemed to have already grasped Fike’s position.
However, the ever-changing conditions of the battlefield were definitely not something that could always be perceived accurately by the eyes alone.
“Hahahaha! Kid, you’ve already lost.”
In the blink of an eye, Blue’s blade was already pressed against Fike’s neck.
Just as he had been sure of his victory, Fike’s figure suddenly disappeared.
“Afterimage- This is his afterimage! How fast is this guy?”
Blue didn’t have time to react.
At this moment, a wave of Sword Qi, much more ferocious than before, was rushing toward Blue’s back once again.
He didn’t even notice.
In an instant, the sharp energy savagely tore into his skin, like the claws of a fierce tiger in the mountains.
Blue cried out in pain.
The smoke dispersed, finally revealing the figure of Fike.
“I didn’t expect this… Blue releasing that smoke was really like shooting himself in the foot.”
The audience below the stage discussed animatedly.
Fike spoke indifferently.
“There’s your first lesson. Don’t underestimate the enemy on the battlefield, or the consequences will be much more grave than what you’re experiencing now.”
Fike looked at Blue, who was left in a sorry state, and continued.
“Since you think our Spell School can’t cut it, we’ll put that to the test.”
Fike raised his right palm.
A burst of flame ignited from it, roaring fiercely toward Blue. Its blaze was like a wall that filled the entire arena.
Blue had no way of avoiding it.
Facing certain death, he closed his eyes, yelling, “Don’t… don’t!”
Suddenly, the flames stopped.
Fike had retracted his palm.
He looked at Blue, sitting on the ground with a dazed expression.
“It seems that you already know how powerful the Spell School is.”
Fike’s sharp eyes looked down the stage, toward the other students of the Melee School.
“Only by learning respect can you earn the right to live.”
The students watching the battle were completely dumbfounded.
They were amazed that Fike could use close combat skills, in addition to easily and skillfully casting such powerful spells.
Moreover, when he casted his spells, he did not even need the support of a magic staff.
Following a brief moment of awestruck silence, thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
“Long live the Spell School!”
“The Spell School is unstoppable!”
“This silver-haired kid is too amazing. Is he really a freshman?”
As he listened to the cheers of the students from below, a realization dawned on him.
Was he going to become famous again?
At this moment, a gentle and tender voice came from below the stage.
“You should be the Fike that Director Cisco and Director Chambers were discussing.”
Fike turned toward the direction of the voice.
A beautiful blonde girl with blue eyes and a tall figure appeared before him.
Although the beauty was wearing a thick windbreaker, it did little to cover up her curvaceous figure.
“It’s Senior Molly, my god!”
“Where is she? Is it really Senior Molly?”
The students below the stage fumbled over each other.
Fike replied to the girl.
“That’s right, I’m Fike.”
Looking at the calm and collected figure, a trace of admiration rose in her heart.
Molly had been quietly observing the battle between Fike and Blue.
It had been obvious to her that Fike was not using his full strength. Still, as he fought against Blue, the scene…
Had been like an adult fighting with a babbling child.
“It seems that the talents of the Spell School are indeed extraordinary.”
“Senior, you flatter me.”
“As the first genius to dual wield long-range spells and healing spells since the establishment of Yogmo Academy, you can still afford to be neither arrogant nor impatient. I find that admirable.”
Molly spoke calmly.
The crowd, however, erupted once again.
“What? This kid actually dual casts?”
“Just what class is this Fike?”
“Didn’t I just see him using close combat skills to fight? He’s actually from the Spell School?”
Watching the crowd engrossed in their heated discussions in front of him, Fike wanted nothing more than to leave as soon as possible.
He hopped off the stage. However, at this moment, Molly stopped him abruptly.
“Fike, you haven’t claimed the credits from your victory yet!”
“Credits?”
Fike was stunned.
“You have your credit card with you, right? After every battle, the winner can take a portion of credits from the loser.
“Each new student’s credit card starts off initially with 100 credits.
“If that number hits zero, you will automatically be expelled from the school.”
Hearing this, he took out the credit card from his backpack as he walked toward Blue, who was still collapsed on the stage.
He found the student’s credit card in his pocket.
Putting the two cards together, Fike found that the number on his card had changed from 100 to 110.
‘So that’s how it works?’
Fike took a glance at Blue’s credit card.
Even though a portion of its credits had been deducted, it still read that it had as much as 460 credits remaining.
‘How many Spell School students have this kid taken down?’
Seeing his confusion, Molly piped up again.
“Actually, fighting here isn’t the only way to earn credits.”
