Chapter 363: The Stingy Goblin (Additional release for 150 monthly tickets)
This boss was indeed powerful, if it hadn’t been Li Yao that faced off with it, countless other players would’ve been buried in the sand.
Yet, the biggest challenge about killing this boss was not its superior strength. Rather, it would run away every so often or each time it lost a certain amount of health. Yes, you heard that right, it would flee.
No matter whether it could win the fight, as soon as its health dropped to a certain level, it would grease its heels and take off.
Its speed was incredibly fast, uncatchable even for players in their thirties or forties. Player mounts included, no one could keep up.
This boss was well-known. Though it was a goblin, it had a shape-shifting item, allowing it to transform into a dwarf, infiltrate the hilly dwarf towns, and exchange goods.
It would then use the money to buy dwarf goods, switch back into its goblin form, and sell the goods to the forsaken, thereby earning a fortune.
Such smuggling activities went on for two years until a bored player tracked it for several days and discovered its shape-shifting secret which led to its reveal.
Both the Light Faction and Dark Camp were furious, they issued a bounty for him in the hills, which began the hunt for this merchant.
Of course, the outcome was tragic. Every time the boss would kill a bunch, and then as its health dwindled, it would start running, leaving all the players unable to keep up and extremely frustrated.
The instant reward led players to accepted the task, only to be led on a wild goose chase.
Considering the vastness of the hills, finding it was no easy task, and if players tried to kill it, it would just run away, truly disgusting.
In the end, without any other option, players asked high-level players for help. Unless you could kill it instantly, it would continue to escape in a flash.
After a long struggle, players finally killed this goblin merchant. But it was still rated as one of the most disgusting low-level bosses.
Just like that, Li Yao remembered this boss for its peculiar nature.
It was indeed very disgusting. It ran so fast, darting and moving unpredictably in the woods, even Flash the fire eagle could barely keep up with it.
Fifteen minutes later, Mimira finally began to rest against a tree, its health recovered to about 85%.
“Damn it, you’re too inexperienced to kill me,” Mimira, hands on his hips, laughed heartily, a face full of satisfaction, then his teeth clenched, obviously eager to kill Li Yao, but unable to do so, so he could only pacify himself with fantasies.
However, just as Mimira was about to continue his journey, he heard the roar of an engine. His laughter abruptly ceased, his smile frozen on his face as he turned his rigid head to see Li Yao speeding towards him in a mechanical car, waving at him.
“How, how, how did you find me?” Mimira was both panicked and terrified, he depended on his ability to run away, but when he met a pursuer he couldn’t shake off, he was dumbfounded.
Li Yao showed no mercy, he still stuck to his routine — setting the Arrow Tower and then dishing out an insane amount of damage as Flash continued to kite the Transport Robot.
Li Yao’s stats were already exaggerated, and with the addition of his Gold Weapon, his DPS reached a terrifyingly high level.
Mimira still could not land a single hit on Li Yao. When his HP fell to 60%, Mimira ran away again.
The same routine followed, Mimira may have been quick, but he couldn’t escape the eyes of Flash.
Even with Mimira’s burst speed, Li Yao couldn’t keep up, but he could still catch up slowly.
After several such rounds, Mimira was in despair.
“Damn elf, why do you want to kill me?” Mimira’s eyes were filled with terror, a natural trait of goblins. Even if they do possess powerful abilities, they are still innately cowardly.
“Didn’t you also intend to kill me at the start? What did you do to the roast meat? Don’t pretend I don’t know,” Li Yao spoke without letting up his attack.
“No, no, no, Mimira never kills anyone, that would just make you sleep for a while. I just found your money bag pretty, wanted to play with it, but I was afraid you wouldn’t agree,” Mimira’s eyes were shifty as he continued, “Yes, yes, that’s right, I just wanted to take a look, wouldn’t touch a copper coin of yours.”
“You wouldn’t touch my copper coin, but you would snatch the money bag, then get your Transport Robot to kill me. This way, it wouldn’t count as you killing me, right?” Li Yao sneered, “No use lying, your eyes have told me everything.”
“I’m guilty, I deserve to die, but everything in this world can be bought with the right price, right? Same goes for my life. I can use my wealth to buy my life back, how about it?” Mimira immediately came up with another plan.
“Oh, and how much are you offering?”
When Mimira’s health was down to a few hundred, Li Yao deactivated the Arrow Tower and stopped attacking.
“Fifteen silver coins, that’s a sky-high price!” Mimira’s voice was shaking.
“You kidding me? You think I need your crappy silver coins?” Li Yao almost laughed in anger; these goblins really were, on the verge of death, and still being tightfisted.
“One Gold Coin. That’s a sky-high price,” Mimira produced a Gold Coin, his entire arm trembling, his face quivering along with it as though giving up a Gold Coin was as painful as giving up his life.
“Damn it, just go die.”
Li Yao straightaway released his fingers and an arrow instantly hit Mimira’s throat.
His eyes bulged in disbelief, full of resentment, he didn’t understand why they wouldn’t spare him for the astronomical price of a Gold Coin.
He thought, if he were to kill someone, not to mention a Gold Coin, he would let them go for fifty silver coins.
He had been generous for a moment, endured heart-wrenching pain to offer a Gold Coin for his life, yet it was met with disdain, he didn’t understand …
Li Yao couldn’t be bothered explaining. Dealing with goblins, everything could be discussed, but discussing money with them was simply preposterous.
Boom…
With Mimira’s death, the Transport Robot began emitting plumes of smoke, its body started to explode, and in a moment, its health depleted to zero and it fell to the ground.
Li Yao’s face changed, he approached to open the core device and found the core had turned into ashes. The secondary cores had also exploded and twisted, making repairs impossible.
“Dammit, this is a big loss. These stingy goblins…” Li Yao originally wanted to dismantle the robot, but remembering there might still be a lot of goods inside, he didn’t open it. He also lacked the tools for now, hence Li Yao simply put the abandoned Transport Robot into his Mechanical Space.
“Let’s hope there’s something good, otherwise, my two hours of hard work would go to waste.” Having dealt with the Transport Robot, Li Yao prepared to loot the corpse…
