MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter

Chapter 341: 341

Li Yao, while subtly adjusting his position, continued to target the back fins that were his primary focus with his bow and arrow.

“These animal bosses may seem unpredictable, but they actually have a wind-up time before their attack. It’s not without a pattern, it’s just different for every boss since they aren’t humanoid. Despite being busy with tasks during the day, I’ve watched many videos. I am now able to anticipate their wind-up patterns based on this analysis. Therefore, you can do the same by observing and studying it.”

For the next few minutes, Li Yao suspended his attack, demonstrating his understanding of the boss to the skeptical spectators, making them firmly believe in his thorough understanding and judgments of this boss.

The data Li Yao shared detailed exactly when and how to evade following each of the boss’s movements.

This level of detailed strategy for a particular boss was something only Li Yao could create, leaving spectators who wished to see him fail in shock.

Importantly, many had bet on Li Yao’s failure, which was tied directly to their pocket full of gold coins. If they saw someone in the spectator stand clasping their hands together, it was unquestionable – they were cursing at Li Yao, praying the beast would land a hit on him. All they asked for was a single hit just to win the ultimate bet.

However, such a wish was mere extravagance; compared to Li Yao, this boss was child’s play.

Even without prior knowledge of this boss, his reflexes alone would profit him complete evasion.

The Sand Dragon King, driven to irritation by Li Yao’s taunts, burrowed directly underground.

“For a ranged class, this is the general strategy. It might feel like the problem of aiming isn’t hard, but if you can’t hit your target, don’t blame me.” Storing his bow and arrow, Li Yao drew a blue greatsword, revealing its properties to the audience.

“From here we move to close combat. It’s based on the same principle. Some might consider its burrowing to be troublesome. But I must inform you, such a move is mindless.”

Just like this, while explaining the tactics, Li Yao began battling the Sand Dragon King effortlessly with his greatsword.

Strictly speaking, the Sand Dragon King was a challenge suitable for both ranged and melee fighters. This wasn’t an issue for Li Yao, but for the novice players, it was a different story.

To Li Yao, it almost felt like simple chat. It wasn’t taxing, quite relaxing in fact, with no challenge involved. He wouldn’t even be injured, and if he was, it would mean his years of practice were in vain.

Nevertheless, in the eyes of the spectators, Li Yao was quite literally dancing on the edge of a knife.

The Sand Dragon King had utterly crushed them. They watched with awe as Li Yao coolly dissected the beast’s critical weaknesses, providing a guide that would allow the average player to challenge the beast, by merely remembering his approach.

This was the demeanor of a true expert, the conduct of a noble. From the perspective of most players, Li Yao now embodied these qualities.

This reaction was precisely what Li Yao desired. He was laying the groundwork for the upcoming contributions to his guild. He wouldn’t simply offer his expertise out of the goodness of his heart. After all, these were just insignificant challenge dungeons in his eyes.

His guild, Starfire, was overjoyed with his progress. However, those who had bet on his failure, guild spies who had slandered him, and other guild members harbored a slew of mixed emotions.

Even though it wasn’t over yet, Li Yao’s easygoing demeanor, his ability to make jokes with the audience while slaying the boss, gave them enough insight to predict the outcome.

No matter how hard the Sand Dragon King fought, it’s health was not infinite. Whether on land or underground, the boss couldn’t land a single hit on Li Yao.

In the end, with one swing of Li Yao’s blade, the Sand Dragon King faced the end of its most brutal battle.

“System: Player Prairie Fire has completed the platinum challenge of the Sand Dragon King. Glory be upon him. Reward: 100 points of reputation for each race in the faction.”

“System: Player Prairie Fire has completed the platinum challenge of the Sand Dragon King. Glory be upon him. Reward: 100 points of reputation for each race in the faction.”

The world announcements repeated twice, making countless players who were watching the delayed broadcast exclaim in surprise, while a few gritted their teeth in frustration.

Gold Shiny, in particularly, was on the verge of tears. He had believed the analysts’ predictions, which was why he had set up this bet. With a ‘Geese Flying Leaving Feathers’ mentality, he thought it would be great to make a little extra gold.

He had raised the odds of Li Yao’s success to attract more gamblers. But he ended up losing a ton of money. For someone as miserly as him, it was an extreme form of suffering.

“Now, let me ask you all, is this silver coin worth it?” Li Yao walked over to the Sand Dragon King and shared the materials he’d gathered.

A wave of excitement washed over the crowd…

The entire stadium erupted, even though they knew he’d been successful, and there had been an announcement. Seeing the materials themselves made the majority of them extremely excited.

These materials could be used to craft purple equipment. Once they returned and studied the videos, they could challenge the boss, and obtain a set of equipment and a purple weapon.

Considering the value of such items, what was a mere silver coin in comparison?

“Alright, one last thing. The Starfire guild is about to reach level three. Those without a guild or who wish to learn and exchange techniques can join the guild. I will occasionally share some tips. There you have it, that is all.”

Just as Li Yao was about to leave it seemed as if he thought of something, suddenly saying: “Ahem, there’s one more thing. Soon, I will head over to the Central Arena to challenge the achievement of a hundred consecutive victories. The multicolor treasure chest is for me alone. Those of you interested, hurry up and challenge the Sand Dragon King or watch the live stream.”

The crowd burst into chatter…

It was beyond expectation. They had anticipated Li Yao would go to the Central Arena, but not that he would brazenly claim he was going to dominate a hundred rounds. This was simply outrageous, disregarding all the guilds and professional players, taken to the extreme.

With an indifferent tone, Li Yao continued: “I would like a favor from you all, pass along this message, let all those experts know what’s coming. Tell them I’m ready to take on the world by myself today, hoping to meet a worthy opponent.”

Those who had been about to leave turned their attention back to Li Yao, admiring his serene smile. Behind that handsome and sophisticated demeanor lurked a wildly daring heart.

Such audacity and arrogance were shocking. Other challengers in the Central Arena would prefer facing less formidable opponents, whereas, Li Yao desired the complete opposite.

Announcing this in such a setting, it was a blatant challenge to all the guilds…
