MMORPG: Crowd Control

Chapter 7 Magnolia Convenience Store

During the interview process, Lei Zhen was completely honest as he explained how he failed to pass the resident exam to become a doctor and why he chose to apply for a part-time job.

He was extremely thorough- to the point that Xu Gen almost had his jaws dropped from hearing Lei Zhen's experience.

"I see… I wasn't expecting you to end here because of the massive influence from Magnolia." Xu Gen said in a low but subtle tone.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen stood up and prepared to leave the Magnolia Convenience Store.

By being brutally honest about himself, he had also cut off his chance of being employed here.

After all, the name alone in this convenience store meant that it's for people who play Magnolia.

And he for one had only created a character without actually playing it.

Xu Gen wasn't an inexperienced person and could fully understand the thought process of Lei Zhen.

"Young man, if you want to work here, then make sure to arrive on time and work diligently." Xu Gen suddenly said.

"Not knowing the game Magnolia isn't a sin, but not trying to adapt to the working environment is. So let me ask you this one question. Would you do your best at work if I hired you?"

Lei Zhen paused his footsteps as he turned around and showed a solemn expression.

"If I have the chance to work here, then I will definitely do my best."

Sometime later, Xu Gen decided to give Lei Zhen a chance and handed him a work uniform.

"Our Magnolia Convenience Store is a chain-store so all workers are required to wear this specific uniform. In addition, most customers are avid players of Magnolia so it's best that you can gain some gaming experience." Xu Gen said, giving some advice and tips for Lei Zhen to have an easier working environment.

Of course, Lei Zhen was grateful for the kindness of Xu Gen and thanked him wholeheartedly.

"Thank you, Manager Xu Gen."

"No need to thank me. Your work would begin at night time starting from 10 PM to 8 AM for a total of 10 hours. Since you are just a part-timer, you can decide between which 4 days you want to work in the week."

Lei Zhen nodded his head.

After giving out some more information, Xu Gen began to register Lei Zhen as a worker on a tablet.

Meanwhile, Lei Zhen would use this time to decide when he would work.

He began to ponder for a few minutes before deciding it would be better if he worked on Monday through Thursday, leaving the other days to take care of his sister in the hospital.

With his schedule all planned out, Lei Zhen bid farewell to Xu Gen as he headed back home.

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Sometime later, Lei Zhen returned to his apartment and noticed the power generator he had ordered online was delivered to his front door.

"Finally…" Lei Zhen muttered in relief.

'Now I can use the power generator as a voltage source to power the MagnoPod and prevent an outage,' he thought.

The power generator was a bit too heavy to carry, but Lei Zhen managed to get a grip on it and brought it inside.

He was extremely careful when handling the power generator because it had cost him a fortune to buy. It would be a heartache for him if the power generator were to receive any scratches or damages due to his negligence.

With careful footstep, Lei Zhen slowly placed the power generator down on the other side of his living room. Now his living room could no longer be called one since there is barely any space available for him to walk in.

However, Lei Zhen could still not idle around as he needed to connect the power generator to the MagnoPod.

10 minutes later, after reading the instruction manual of the power generator, Lei Zhen managed to set everything up.

He grabbed a small cloth to wipe out his sweat and drank some water to quench his thirst.

Placing his hands on his hips, Lei Zhen felt proud of his work and quickly entered the MagnoPod.

Beep!

As soon as Lei Zhen booted up the MagnoPod, his vision darkened as usual, and by the time he opened his eyes, he found himself back in the Lux Forest with his character.

"It's time to start the adventure…" he muttered as he glanced at his level 1 status.

Thankfully, Lei Zhen had studied some of the starter guides of Magnolia so he wasn't as clueless as before.

You can be an amateur in a new game, but not trying to learn and study the game mechanic is an idiotic move.

"Open map!" Lei Zhen said aloud, opening the functions that players could have in Magnolia.

Soon, a large transparent screen appeared in front of Lei Zhen and he could vividly see the layout of the Lux Forest.

And to his dismay, there was a large warning on the left side of the screen that stated players should at least be level 50 before exploring.

Shock and disbelief occurred in Lei Zhen's face as he wondered if this was another bug he had encountered.

Level 1 in a level 50 area is an unbelievable and unrealistic scene.

Just how was a level 1 supposed to fight a level 50 and win?

This isn't some miraculous game where you can defy logic and act like some mob boss at level 1.

"No wonder why Shan Lin screamed like some woman in heat… Even I would have screamed in confusion if I had known what kind of area is Lux Forest." Lei Zhen laughed bitterly as he wondered how to escape his dilemma.

Instead of being depressed over his misfortune, Lei Zhen clicked on his current skill tree to check what he could do at the moment.

Bzzt

Lei Zhen twitched his mouth at the sight of his skill tree.

"Wonderful Life I have eh, not a single attack skill." He laughed miserably.
