Chapter 35 Skill Box
At this moment, Tang Qiaolian was starting to believe the wild claim that Lei Zhen held.
She didn't believe his crazy method would actually work, but she didn't want to break his confidence. Hence, she decided to follow along with his plan.
However, just the fact that she had a tapestry ready for them to weave to compete against Arachne, she could not help but be astonished.
'Is this really what Magnolia had designed for here?' She wondered silently.
Suddenly, she recalled the quest that she had completed a while ago. Other than the tapestry, there was another reward that she had not yet opened since it came in the form of a skill box.
Skill boxes are a type of container that holds random or specific skills. They are usually obtained through quests, but others could occasionally find skill boxes available in auctions managed by NPC.
Of course, players that obtained a skill box could also place them up for auction. However, the chance of players doing so is low since no one would give up this opportunity to learn more skills.
Tang Qiaolian swallowed some of her saliva nervously as she opened the skill box.
Ding!
[You have received a skill, Weaving Arts!]
Almost like a whale opening their mouth for food, Tang Qiaolian's jaw was extremely wide as she was shocked by the skill she had received.
"Qiaolian? Why are you opening your jaw like that?" Lei Zhen, who was wondering how to weave in the tapestry, noticed Tang Qiaolian and asked in concern.
"Heh, I don't even know what to say." Tang Qiaolian shook her head and chuckled a bit as she was completely speechless.
What seemed like a crazy method now seemed to be the most accurate method of conquering the dungeon.
'Hmm, weird.' Lei Zhen didn't know what happened to her, so he minded his own business.
If she wanted to say something to him, then she would say it. Otherwise, he would keep silent and not enquire further. Similar to how she didn't pry into his information when she noticed his class.
They were two mature people who had a mutual understanding of each other.
Sometime later, Lei Zhen began to grab some of the Strong Silk to prepare for the weaving on the tapestry but was halted by Tang Qiaolian.
"Wait a minute, Lei Zhen. What are you trying to do?"
With his hand on the tapestry, and his other hand holding the needle that held the Strong Silk, Lei Zhen calmly replied, "I'm trying to weave a painting. What else would I be doing?"
"You are doing it wrong, and that's not how you're supposed to use the needle." Tang Qiaolian sighed. "Here, look at what I'm doing and follow my steps."
She then proceeded to meticulously unwrap the Strong Silk and used the needle to keep it in place for the weaving. At the same time, she broke one of Arachne's Crystal Orb and began dyeing the string to make it have some colors.
Her action was similar to a professional that had been a weaver for at least 10 years.
"Where did you find the time to learn to weave?" Lei Zhen was dumbfounded by her swift hand movement.
He had tried to follow her procedure, but a few seconds later, he realized that he was unable to mimic her movement at all.
"I guess this is the benefit of receiving the Weaving Arts skill." Tang Qiaolian said, her eyes remaining still on the tapestry.
"For some reason, when I obtained the skill, my mind and hand somehow just knew what to do and it all seemed natural for me."
"Then I suppose you'll be the one to do all the weaving?"
" Seems like that'll be the case. If we want to try to beat Arachne in terms of weaving, then it's best that I do it all alone to avoid you messing things up."
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ Lei Zhen nodded his head. He was unfamiliar with weaving, and it would do more harm than good if he tried to assist her.
Thus, Lei Zhen calmly stood up and began to patrol the surrounding areas.
Although he might not be capable of slaying the monsters, he could still stall for time and warn Tang Qiaolian given that she was focused on the tapestry.
Time slowly passed by, and Tang Qiaolian finally finished her weaving.
Normally, weaving is a time-consuming activity that would take more than a day to complete.
However, Magnolia is a magical place and it wouldn't take long for a player to finish crafting things. After all, who would want to spend an entire day crafting or weaving a singular item?
"What do you think of this artwork, Lei Zhen?" Tang Qiaolian smiled and revealed her work.
"A-Amazing…" That was the only word that came out of his mouth when he saw the work done by her. If it weren't because he knew she had weaved it personally, then he would have suspected it was some antique in a museum.
"Hehe, let's show that Arachne who's the boss in weaving." She smirked and rushed ahead. She didn't know why, but there was a surge of prideful attitude coming in her, and she was eager to showcase her work in front of the famed Arachne.
Her speed was fast to the point that Lei Zhen hadn't even had time to catch up to her.
By the time he reached the cliff, he heard a loud screeching sound coming from Arachne.
"Did my method actually fail?"
Lei Zhen was filled with worries when he heard the screeching sound and thought that they had wasted their time.
However, he was astonished once he saw what was going on at the bottom pit.
Arachne was actually dropping tears from her eyes, and the screech was similar to a mournful cry. Her hand was holding the tapestry work that Tang Qiaolian had done.
Meanwhile, Tang Qiaolian turned around and showed a 'peace' hand sign to him.
Ding!
