Chapter 31 Arachne’s Spawnlings
As soon as Tang Qiaolian warned about their backs, Lei Zhen realized monsters were spawning left and right. It was like the monsters had come out of thin air since he didn't even notice their presence.
"Where did they even come from?" Lei Zhen asked in a bewildered tone.
They were surrounded by four walls with zero gaps in between. Yet the monsters were able to drop down from the ceiling.
"That's the thrill about Magnolia. Monsters don't have limitations in the dungeon, meaning they literally have walkthrough wall hacks." Tang Qiaolian smirked, her hand gripping tightly on the hilt of her sword.
"Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling?" He said, feeling the ground beneath him trembling for a bit.
Reacting on instinct alone, Lei Zhen hurriedly equipped his Novice Staff and jumped upward. And right when he jumped upward, the ground beneath him collapsed and numerous tiny little spiders started crawling out from the hole that was created.
The ground instantly turned into a small crater and Lei Zhen was sure that if he were to jump a little too late, then he would have been swarmed by the spiders with no escape path.
The tiny little spiders all had eight legs and two eyes that glowed in a dim red color. Their fangs are tiny but ferocious enough to inflict massive damage due to the venom contained in them. Some spiders even had some of their venom dripping on the concrete floor, causing it to corrode and weaken.
While inspecting the spiders, Lei Zhen landed behind Tang Qiaolian and started to read the spiders' status through the system.
[Arachne's Spawnlings]
[Level: 38]
[Health Point: 1,000]
[Note: Immune to Physical Attack]
"Immune to physical attack? Doesn't that counter you?" Lei Zhen turned toward her with a worried expression. After all, she is holding a sword and that would be counted as a physical attack.
Meanwhile, Tang Qiaolian ignored him and leaped forward, swinging her sword 180 degrees. The two long blades on the sword seemed to turn into a whirlwind style, creating a tornado cut.
SLASH!
The Arachne's spawnlings that met her sword were killed in a single strike, dumbfounding Lei Zhen. All he saw was a glint of light that emitted from her sword each time she made a slashing motion.
"Lei Zhen, stop being in a daze and focus on the other spawnlings. I don't need you to deal damage but you should at least dodge and run around to avoid being killed."
"R-Right"
After getting reminded by her, Lei Zhen realized he had no time to be standing around. Although most of the aggro had gone toward Tang Qiaolian because of her 180-degree cut, there are still some spawnlings that had their target on Lei Zhen.
ραпdα nᴏνa| сom Luckily for him though, only three spawnlings were dashing toward him.
'Phew, with my mana, I can stun them and retreat safely.' Lei Zhen made a quick calculation in his mind.
With a wave of his hand, Lei Zhen maneuvered his staff and pointed at one of the spawnings.
STUN!
He shouted and soon the spawnling was immovable, but the two other spawnlings took it as an offense. They made a few hissing sounds and started to increase their speed.
At the same time, they began shooting some of their venoms out from their mouths.
Even a fool would know to dodge it, so Lei Zhen squirmed to the right side, and the venom that they shot out landed on the wall behind him. The wall made a hissing sound before it started to corrode, almost like it was melting.
"I may be a curious person, but even I would not be curious enough to test how much damage that will do to me." Lei Zhen's body shivered for a second when he imagined himself in the position of the melting wall.
If it were in real life, then he might be disfigured forever or even be on life support at the hospital.
Shaking his head to brush off those horrific thoughts, Lei Zhen resumed focus on the two angry spawnlings.
Unlike the previous moment, the two angry spawnlings seemed to have gotten smarter and knew how to dodge Lei Zhen's stun.
His stun might be powerful, but the premise is if he could actually aim at the target. Therefore, the two spawnlings were cautious enough to detect when Lei Zhen would be activating his spell.
"Qiaolian, save me!" Lei Zhen cried aloud as he ran out of mana. Without any mana left, he was unable to stall the spawnlings any longer.
The only savior here is Tang Qiaolian, who seemed to be at ease when killing the spawnlings in one shot.
"Huh? You couldn't even last a minute?" Tang Qiaolian who just finished off another spawnling was dumbfounded to hear Lei Zhen crying for help.
Although time seemed to have gone by fast for Lei Zhen, the reality was harsh. Only 30 seconds had actually passed when Tang Qiaolian went to kill the spawnlings herself.
"I'm still a level 1, Qiaolian. My mana is low and these spawnlings are too intelligent. They know how to dodge and counterattack."
"Didn't I tell you to stop thinking Magnolia is some easy game to play? If the monsters are dumb, then who would be interested in playing the game to begin with."
"Yes, I admit my mistake. I will never underestimate them again."
A few seconds later, Lei Zhen finally arrived behind Tang Qiaolian to take cover after much difficulty.
The two spawnlings that were chasing him were clever to almost block off all his escape path. Just another second later and Lei Zhen would have been slaughtered alive.
"Alright, let's see who can make Lei Zhen run away like a coward." Tang Qiaolian smiled and turned around.
She had just finished killing all the spawnlings in her area. Drops of blood were dripping down on the ground from her sword.
"Hoh, are these the two little cuties that frightened you so much?" Her smile became wider when she saw the two spawnlings halt their movement, their bodies trembling in fear.
