Chapter 74 Generous Shop Owner
'She should be able to help me.' Alex thought, seeing the bunny demi-human lady at the front desk.
"Beautiful lady, I want to meet a person with high authority in this shop," Alex said as he placed his guest noble badge on the counter.
Alex knew the shop was not selling the chimera meat to anybody with money, so he decided you use his noble authority, which was more than enough to get him privileged benefits.
"Noble Earl, do you want to meet with the shop manager or the owner?" The bunny lady asked as she stood up from her seat with an alarmed look.
"I would appreciate your help if you could inform the shop owner about me," Alex replied.
"Please sit on this chair and wait for a few minutes while I go and inform the shop owner of your presence." The bunny lady said, clearly not used to talking with any nobles.
After seeing Alex sitting on the chair, the bunny lady walked toward the stairs leading to the second floor with quick steps.
------------------
"He should be the owner." Alex thought, seeing a fat man wearing ornate clothes walking down the stairs in a hurry.
"Noble Earl, How can this humble shop owner be of any help to your esteem self." The man asked while trying very hard to control his heavy breathing.
'He must be on this building's highest floor and ran all the way to reach here quickly.' Alex thought, seeing his condition.
"Shop Owner, we could discuss my request, but before you should calm down, your rough breathing," Alex said, seeing the man's face turning red with every passing moment.
"Noble Earl, My name is Yanric, and How can I help you." The owner asked.
"My name is Hidden One and I heard your shop has a complete carcass of a Rank Five Mutated chimera for sale?" Alex asked.
"Sir, Your information is correct. My shop has a carcass of a mutated chimera, but there are few small issues."
"The carcass is not complete as its lion and goat head are already sold, but I can sell you the remaining body at a discounted price," Yanric said, visibly calmer after hearing the demand.
'I never planned to buy the whole body, but getting a discount would only save me money, so who cares.'
Alex has researched on the forums about how much a Rank five beast meat would cost, and the price was as ridiculous as he expected.
A single gram of a Rank five beast's meat would cost two silver coins, which was not much, but a Rank five beast has a giant body.
Its total weight would easily cross a few thousand kilograms making the whole carcass meat worth more than a million gold coins, and that was the price of a normal beast because if the beast was a variant, the price would only increase.
"I want first to see the Chimera's body, and then we could discuss whether we will have a deal or not," Alex said in a dissatisfied tone, clearly showing he wasn't happy with the information Yanric told him.
"Sir, If you are not dissatisfied with the smell of some blood, I can show you the chimera body right now," Yanric said.
"Lead the way," Alex said.
---------------------
Yanric led Alex to the shop basement, which was massive in size, with its floor covered in blood and the basement air carrying the thick smell of rust and an incredible amount of mana.
"This beauty is the Mutated Chimera you heard about," Yanric said as his magic ring flashed and a giant body of a monstrosity got teleported on the floor.
'How the hell did someone kill this monstrosity without seriously injuring it in battle?' Alex questioned, seeing the seventy feet body of the chimera without any visible injuries.
The chimera has the body of a pitch-black lion, with its hind legs being that of a goat, and they were at least four times more muscular than its front legs, which helped the creature become agile even with his massive body size and wait.
The chimera frond legs were thin compared to its hind legs, but they were still massive, and both of his paws had four sharp blades like claws and a massive red and purple snake at its tail.
The chimera's head was missing, but even then, its body looked nothing less of a natural wonder, and the mana gathering around its dead body was overwhelming, making the very air around it suffocating to breathe for Alex.
"Yanric, Can you tell me which [Elemental Ruler] Killed this chimera?" Alex asked, knowing anyone with a lower strength level would never be able to kill a Rank five chimera without destroying its body.
Alex came to such a conclusion because an Elemental Ruler was someone who had achieved the legendary Seventh Rank and had created his Beginner Elemental Domain, and only a person at that level could kill a Rank five chimera without leaving a scratch on its body.
A seventh-Rank warrior could easily kill anyone with the strength of Sixth Rank or below as there was a great chasm between the sixth and seventh Rank.
The power system in the Ancient world was divided into Nine Ranks, and these Nine Ranks were separated into three different sections.
The first three Ranks were called the [Mortal Ranks], with the following three being the [Elementalist Ranks], and the last three Ranks were called the [Element Ruler Ranks].
"Sir, This poor chimera didn't die at the hands of a Noble [Elemental Ruler], but he killed himself with his foolishness,"
"We believe this chimera died while he was trying to build a connection between his elemental core and heart to make a forceful evolution."
"This beast tried to link his elemental core with his heart, and because of his failed attempt, the elemental core destroyed his heart, giving him a painful death."
Yanric briefly explained how the chimera's foolishness to gain more strength and do a forceful evolution took his own life.
'What a cheesy way to lie.' Alex thought after hearing Yanric explanation.
Alex believed Yanric's explanation to be a big lie because everyone with a beast companion knew that a beast successfully linking its elemental core with its heart had an abysmal chance of success, and link failure would guarantee a painful death.
Alex knew Rank Five beasts have intelligence like humans, and every beast at that level of strength and intelligence would know this information, so finding a beast willing to gamble a guaranteed death for his evolution was close to zero.
'Who cares which [Elemental Ruler] killed this chimera.' Alex thought as he walked toward the creature to have a close look.
'I like to know if I can buy this whole tail with the money I had on me?' Alex thought, seeing the massive snake tail of the chimera.
"What is the price of the chimera tail, including the snake head elemental core?" Alex asked after walking a full circle around the chimera carcass.
The majority of the beast would only develop one elemental core after achieving Rank five, but there were few exceptions, and chimera was one of them who developed three different elemental cores for each of his heads.
"Sir, the poison element core of the snake head is damaged very badly, so it is not worth any value, but if you wait for some time, I could arrange a poison element core," Yanric replied with a forced smile.
'I didn't say anything about his blatant lie before as it does not affect me, but now he is just taking me as an idiot.'
"I will buy the damaged element core, so give me a price," Alex said and waited for Yanric to come up with a new explanation.
"Sir, If you are interested in the damaged core, then you can have it as a gift, and next time you want to buy some high-Ranking beast body parts, please remember to contact me," Yanric replied, not bothered by Alex's demand.
'This is interesting.' Alex thought, seeing the opposite reaction to what he was expecting from Yanric.
"Sir, we should go upstairs and have some nice tea while we wait for my workers to cut the chimera tail into smaller pieces," Yanric said and waited for Alex's reply.
"How much time would your workers take to remove the snake hide without destroying it and clean and cut the meat into smaller portions?"
Alex asked the crucial question as he was short on time and would rather leave the city with the entire snake tail and pay extra to some other butcher to complete the job.
"Sir, My worker would complete the job in the same time it would take us to drink some refreshing tea."
"If your worker can't complete the job in fifteen minutes, then ask someone to cut the tail cleanly, and I will take the entire thing," Alex replied, not buying his sweet talk.
"Sir, fifteen minutes should be more than enough time."
'He clearly wants to talk about something.'
"I don't have much time, so ask your workers to work fast.' Alex said as he walked toward the stairs.
Alex could tell Yanric wanted to ask him about something, and he decided to hear it because if he could make a good relationship with a butcher who could provide him high Ranking beast meat at a discounted price for some help, then it was a great deal.
