Chapter 19: 13 The 'Sloth' of the 7 Great Demon Kings
Payin City, Topstar Tower 37th floor 'Dream of Glazed Glass'.
"Then I'll take 'Dantalion' with me, Sister 'Sai Gong.'"
The rabbit-eared girl led Hexia away from a bar where the shelves were filled with various styles of famous liquors. A mature-looking Bull Horn Tribe maid waved at the two from behind the counter.
Although their appearances seemed very different, the maid with the bull horns and Hexia were both members of humanity, the former being a subspecies branch named the Orc Race.
After humans came into contact with transcendent powers, various transcendent species were born, all of which were branches of humanity. For example, the various subspecies of the Orc Race and elves and fairies that even overshadow humans in advantages, but overall, humans still dominate.
"Sister Sai Gong is from the Bull Horn Tribe and a great Bartender. She's also a master of the Primordial Sequence 4. If a customer ever bullies you, you can seek help from Sister Sai Gong," Belfeng explained some work tips to Hexia.
"However, 'Dantalion' is still young. If Sister Sai Gong offers you a drink, don't drink it. It's easy to get drunk," the rabbit-eared girl patted her chest as if recalling a daunting experience.
"I'll remember that." Hexia nodded, her white cat ears on her head trembling, giving her an extraordinarily cute look.
"Hmm, even though it's only the first day, I'm already feeling 'Dantalion's' charm."
"Alright, let's move on. Who might be free around this time?"
"Let's go see what 'Deklabi' is up to." The rabbit-eared girl pondered for a moment, then took Hexia by the hand and jogged towards a corner of the hall.
A while later, the two arrived at a circular, transparent compartment that was shaped almost like an Ω. Many branches hung down inside the space, from which colorful birds of paradise perched. In the center of the circular space sat a petite girl in a snow-white dress, with eyes slightly closed, hands clasped as if in prayer, and a faint pentagram visible upon her forehead.
This pentagram was not drawn with colored ink, but rather formed by a faint golden glow that seemed to radiate from within, exuding a sacred beauty.
"'Deklabi,' I'm here." The rabbit-eared girl broke the original quietness as soon as she entered the circular space.
Seemingly resigned, the girl sitting in the middle opened her eyes, and the birds of paradise that were once perched all fluttered into the air, circling and producing various calls.
She loosened her clasped hands and gently shook the bell hanging beside her. Then the birds of paradise in the air settled back down onto the branches.
"You're here."
"Mhm, today I brought 'Dantalion' to familiarize her with the environment. She's a newly arrived companion."
"I see... Hello, I am 'Deklabi,' the 69th pillar Demon God. Actually, I've only been here two months longer than you."
Deklabi (Decarabia): The 69th Demon God from King Solomon's 72 pillars, depicted as a pentagram, but also with a human form. Skilled in judging the quality of gems or birds, Decarabia can transform into a bird at the Summoner's bidding.
"Deklabi has a high affinity for birds and is part of the rare Radiant Feather Sequence. You could say she's the most angelic among us Devil Maids," the rabbit-eared girl introduced to Hexia.
As she spoke, the rabbit-eared girl took Hexia by the hand and sat down with the white-dressed girl who brought out some cookies and snacks from a cabinet at the bottom of one of the walls and placed them on the table.
"Sorry, I didn't prepare anything tasty." Her voice was so soft it seemed a breeze could blow it away.
"It's okay." In fact, Hexia was getting a little hungry, as she hadn't had lunch.
The three chatted while snacking, discussing various things about the shop.
"When Raby first arrived, I was the one showing her around. She was even shyer than 'Dantalion,' always hiding behind me, afraid to talk to others..."
"But she is very talented. At such a young age, she's already Radiant Feather Sequence 3. She's a little genius of our city, and should be about the same age as Hexia."
Afterward, Belfeng asked their ages.
"I didn't expect 'Deklabi' to be younger than 'Dantalion.'"
Hexia tilted her head, "Is this really not considered illegal child labor?" The Federation had restrictions on minors working, with the minimum age being 16.
"That's true, but Raby was only a month or two shy of the legal age. She's legal now," the rabbit-eared girl waved her finger, indicating it was not a big issue.
The group continued their casual conversation for nearly an hour, growing more acquainted with each other.
Even though Hexia didn't talk much with the white-dressed girl, their characters seemed similar, and many things didn't need to be said for them to quickly find common ground and empathize deeply, as if they had met someone who truly understood them.
"As I thought, you two get along very well." Belfeng nodded, feeling she had a discerning eye.
"Alright, it's about time I went to work." The rabbit-eared girl stood up.
"Want to come and watch, 'Dantalion'?~"
"Me? Sure, but I don't know how to help."
"No worries, just stand by and cheer for me." Belfeng then took Hexia by the hand and waved goodbye to the white-dressed girl.
"See you next time, Deklabi~"
Afterward, they left in a hurry, leaving Deklabi to continue sitting in front of the small white table.
"Really..." Deklabi shook her head but seemed accustomed to the older girl's style.
