Chapter 220: Making Yuri's lab (2/2)
Yuri began listing what else she needed.
"I'd need lenses, metal sheets and wires, natural dyes, and inks to record data, chemicals and reagents, water and sanitation, communication and record-keeping systems, protection, food and security, and equipment for anti-bacterial systems, and finally, lighting, too."
"Wouldn't this take months?"
"Well, if we were normal people, yes. But meh, my boyfriend happens to have a really convenient demonic trick under his sleeve."
Mark nodded in astonishment. "This boyfriend must be something. But how long would this take?"
She touched her beautiful little nose with her finger. "Well, it will become functional today itself. The rest is going to be a slow process but you don't have to worry about your time, I'll make the people of the villages work for me. It'll take some time after but yeah, not too much.
"But babe, dedicate today to me, please. It will be useful in the long term."
And thus began the work of the day for Mark. He collected more materials she needed and by the time it was all in the bag, it was nearing noon. Then, they all sat down on a plain about five hundred kilometers away from where they had started.
There, they had a wonderful lunch prepared by the people in the villages inside his World Space.
It was goat soup, meat, and a mixture of other things. It tasted great.
Then, he entered the World Space and Yuri gave him some structural plans. It was for a huge building. On the central island in this world, where Mark and his women lived, a huge building that looked like a globe rose out of nowhere.
In a few hours, it was standing proud.
It looked like dried mud but soon enough, it was wholely transformed into a building made out of white stone like the Taj Mahal. The garden outside it was the concept of beauty itself, the small pond of black water the icon of power.
It was great architecture.
Using Alchemic Shapeshifting for uses such as this indeed, was an out-of-the-world experience. To a point, the power made Mark feel a sort of arrogance—almost as if he were a god.
He could create anything he wanted from his imagination with a touch. Just have a vague understanding and enough Mindpower.
Then, he helped her make furniture out of the wood. For nothing but grandness, he turned the wood into gold and gifted her golden furniture.
She gifted him a blushing kiss in return.
Dona entered his World Space with her butterflies in tow, and eyes sparkling, ran into the new laboratory that was basically a palace. Yuri, in her structural plans, had made a great room at the very top of the globe-like structure, one that had three rooms behind its open terrace.
One for Dona, one for Yuri, one for Reol'ran.
As for Mark, he could sleep with any of them in any of their rooms.
There were other rooms too, but none were designed just as grand. Those three stood out.
After the grand labs' initial building was designed with god-like speed, the next part was turning the biggest hallway in the building into a high-tech laboratory. That didn't require Mark, so Yuri pulled him outside the lab and asked him to create a water wheel and a waterfall.
The water wheel would generate energy using the momentum of the waterfall and the small river that gets generated below the fall.
But then, Mark was in a dilemma.
The huge ocean in the World Space that spanned its entirety was not water. It was Mark's mindpower—even if someone drank it, it wouldn't help them get rid of their thirst. But yes, it did feel like water in most other facets.
But, they also needed normal water for many things in this world—they didn't have infinite Black Water to waste on washing hands.
So, Mark went to a small waterfall in the Savage World and after a lot of effort, wrapped the whole thing up with his Soul Sense. Then, he tried to absorb it into his World Space.
He failed.
He couldn't absorb things that moved above a certain speed into his World Space. The water was moving too fast to be absorbed. So, in the end, he sighed to himself and used Clown's Circus.
Everything stopped in place. The waterfall also grew rigid.
He began absorbing the waterfall into his World Space.
Yuri was just outside the radius of the Clown's Circus effect, and for the first time, she came to learn about how terrifying it was. She was tasked with noting things down about the power itself, so she put a hand into the domain.
She expected herself to freeze, but she didn't.
So, only if a full body of something was inside the area of effect will it pause time for it?
She took a stone and threw it in. The moment the whole thing entered the area of effect, it froze in midair. She was amazed.
When 30 seconds passed, the world continued to move and Mark returned with the hamster on his head, which had also been frozen in time till now.
She entered his World Space. He followed her with his soul.
Then, he placed the waterfall in a nice area and began to make a river around it. Dona, laughing, jumped into the water and troubled him in his task.
After the river was made, he made a waterwheel with her plan and with a smile, left the water. Dona had made Mark make a boat for her, and she laid on it, staring up at the sky.
She didn't care about the boat or peacock, she just wanted Mark to do something for the fun of it.
Next, Mark moved to a different area in the central island and expanded the island itself. And at the edge, he began making windmills. It was a lot harder to do because he had to follow a rigid structural plan and allow for leverage later on.
He made the shape with mud using Alchemic Shapeshifting and when Yuri was satisfied with the nook and crannies, he transformed it into iron. It took some more effort to make the windmill spin, and only then did they notice a flaw in their plans.
There was not much wind in the World Space—except for the wind generated by the waterfall.
On natural lands, the reason wind was so prevalent was due to solar heat. Hot wind rises and cold wind falls, creating a natural cycle of constant movement.
Since the sun's heat was spread unevenly, wind in colder areas and hotter areas would keep each other moving. But Mark's world didn't have a sun, so the windmill was practically useless.
But when she needed it, Yuri was strong enough to spin the wheel herself.
And thus, the initial lab was done. The rest would be completed with time. But Mark still had some more work to do...
Yuri made him create as many scientific instruments as he could with Alchemic Shapeshifting and by the time he was done, it was deep in the night outside.
With that, she had a working laboratory, incomplete and lacking as it may be.
Mark stretched.
