Chapter 29
C29 – Attack
After overhearing the crowd’s discussion, Lee Dui felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him. He quickly scrambled to his feet, pointing an accusing finger at the onlookers, his expression seething with rage.
“You’ve insulted Cloud Peak City.”
The crowd erupted into mocking laughter, their eyes brimming with disdain.
Lee Dui’s anger intensified, his hands balled into fists so tight that his nails drew blood from his palms, yet he was oblivious to the pain.
Just then, a head popped out from the second floor. The man peered down at Lee Dui and said, “If you’re accusing me of insulting you or Cloud Peak City, I have nothing more to say. Prove your worth by defeating me, not by spouting off words down here.”
Lee Dui looked up at the man, his gaze burning with resentment.
“Mark my words, there will come a day when the Peerless Talent of our Cloud Peak City will best all of you,” Lee Dui shouted, his face flushed and his body shaking with barely contained fury.
Someone at his side tugged at his sleeve and whispered, “Lee Dui, enough. Let’s just leave.”
Their personal embarrassment was tolerable, but they couldn’t afford to tarnish the reputation of Cloud Peak City.
Brushing the person off, Lee Dui bellowed, “I’m staying right here, waiting for our Cloud Peak City’s Peerless Talent to arrive. I want to witness our Peerless Talent triumph over everyone here.”
Such disgrace was unbearable for anyone.
“Cloud Peak City has a Peerless Talent?” the man upstairs scoffed.
“Brother Huan, ignore the ramblings of this madman. How could Cloud Peak City possibly have a Peerless Talent?” chimed in another bystander.
The man upstairs gave Lee Dui a dismissive look and taunted, “So where is this Peerless Talent of yours? Call him out to defeat me, if you can.”
The laughter intensified, reinforcing the notion that Cloud Peak City was nothing but a bottom-dweller.
Surrounded by the jeering crowd, Lee Dui’s anger reached a boiling point.
Suddenly, a hand tapped him on the shoulder from behind.
“Calm down. There’s no need to stoop to their level,” the voice behind him advised.
But Lee Dui, still engulfed in rage, snapped back, “You…”
Lee Dui gazed at the somewhat youthful face before him. After just one look, he found himself unable to look away.
“Zhuang Xing, is that really you? I can’t be mistaken, can I?”
He rubbed his eyes, suspecting an illusion.
Zhuang Xing offered a slight smile and nodded. He hadn’t intended to come forward, but circumstances had changed. His parents and his family were in Cloud Peak City, and naturally, so was he. Witnessing the insults hurled at his home, he felt compelled to stand up for it.
Lee Dui burst into wild laughter.
“Nan Le, the Peerless Talent of our Cloud Peak City has arrived. I’ll relish watching you get defeated by him.”
All eyes turned to Zhuang Xing, sparking a flurry of conversation.
“A Peerless Talent? You must be joking.”
“Does that mean I’m a Peerless Talent too?”
“In a place like Cloud Peak City, someone at the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Two Heaven could certainly be considered a Peerless Talent, right?”
“Yes, compared to these two nobodies, a Spirit Wheel Stage Level Two Heaven could definitely claim the title of Peerless Talent.”
“Take me, for instance. At the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven, I’m just average among Azure Sun City’s youth. But in Cloud Peak City, I’d surely be hailed as a Peerless Talent.”
The crowd erupted into laughter, their words dripping with sarcasm.
“That’s all the ability a Peerless Talent has?”
Nan Le looked at Zhuang Xing with a cold, mocking smile, his eyes brimming with contempt. A Spirit Wheel Stage Level Two Heaven was nothing special; he could easily crush such a person with a mere flick of his wrist without breaking a sweat.
Zhuang Xing stepped forward, meeting Nan Le’s gaze. In a calm voice, he stated, “If you can withstand three of my strikes, you’re free to go.”
This bold claim sent shockwaves through the crowd, igniting a wave of heated debate.
“Such arrogance! You think you can defeat Nan Le in just three moves?”
“Nan Le is a Spirit Wheel Stage Level Six Heaven powerhouse, one of the top contenders among Azure Sun City’s youth. Aside from the Four Great Young Masters, no one has ever dared claim they could best him within three moves.”
“Look at Nan Le’s face; he’s livid. That kid’s in for it now.”
“That kid’s so full of himself, claiming he’d beat him in three moves. No wonder Nan Le’s fuming. Wouldn’t you be?”
“Absolutely. That kid’s fate is going to be grim. Angering Nan Le comes with severe consequences. He’d be lucky to die with his body intact.”
Indeed, Nan Le’s expression had turned stormy. Never in his life had he been so disrespected. This nobody, who seemed to appear out of thin air, had the audacity to boast he could defeat him within three moves. To Nan Le, it was an insult of the highest order.
“Kid, if you were looking to make a spectacle of yourself, you’ve succeeded,” Nan Le said.
He rose to his feet, his face a mask of fury. Everyone around could tell he was truly enraged, and they knew all too well that the wrath of Nan Le was a fearsome thing.
“Nan Le is enraged. That kid’s about to face the music.”
“The Nan family is a top-tier power in Azure Sun City. They may not be on par with the Four Great Young Masters, but they’re not to be trifled with. This kid, trying to make a name for himself, has definitely picked the wrong target.”
“Nan Le’s Black Nether Fire is immensely strong, ranking among the best of the Human Rank High Level Martial Skills. With just one strike, he can reduce everything to ashes, even incinerating Spiritual Force.”
“By the sound of it, this kid might end up without even a bone left intact.”
“He’s got no one to blame but himself. Who told him to mess with Nan Le? He’s made his own bed.”
The onlookers buzzed with commentary, none of them giving Zhuang Xing a chance. In Azure Sun City, a hub of extraordinary talent, a mere Spirit Wheel Stage Level Two Heaven like him barely qualified. Among his peers, he was considered average at best. It took more than just a Spirit Wheel Stage Level Two Heaven to stand out here.
“Brace yourself for my move.”
