Chapter 17
C17 – Fighting
“Why did you hurt my daughter today?”
Jia Du bellowed, his chest heaving like a volcano on the brink of eruption.
Zhuang Xing replied with disdain, “Handling Jia Anan didn’t require much effort on my part.”
“You!” Jia Du was livid, his fists clenched as he roared, “You’ve crippled my daughter’s dantian. Today, I’ll do the same to you.”
“Do you really think you have the ability to cripple me?”
Jia Du commanded, “Seize him!”
“Yes, sir.”
The crowd surged forward, eager to give Zhuang Xing a lesson.
“Jia Du, just try it.”
Suddenly, a booming voice came from outside. Everyone turned to see Zhuang Dou and several members of the Zhuang family charging in. They quickly parted to make way.
The Zhuang family members swiftly surrounded Zhuang Xing, shielding him from the Jia family, denying them any opportunity to lay a hand on him.
“Xing, what were you thinking? It was enough to reprimand Jia Anan. Why did you have to cripple her dantian? What are we going to do now?”
Ma Xiaoyan was stunned upon learning of her son’s actions, at a loss for what to do next. Zhuang Xing’s actions were excessive.
She had been quite pleased with Jia Anan and would have been overjoyed to see Zhuang Xing marry her.
But after Jia Anan learned of Zhuang Xing’s failure in his cultivation, her and the Jia family’s attitudes toward him had taken a nosedive. She humiliated him time and again, both privately and publicly, which only increased Ma Xiaoyan’s discontent. Zhuang Xing was, after all, her fiancé. By law, humiliating one’s own fiancé was a grave offense, and even cultivators would scorn such actions.
Zhuang Xing simply shrugged, remaining composed and seemingly oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
Ma Xiaoyan sighed at his nonchalance. With the events already unfolded, there was no point in discussing it further.
“Zhuang Dou, step aside. Today, I’m going to cripple Zhuang Xing.”
Jia Du’s presence was overwhelming, his rage climbing to the brink of explosion.
“Jia Du, as long as I’m here, you won’t lay a finger on my son.”
Zhuang Dou bellowed, his own power surging to meet the challenge. His aura was every bit as formidable as Jia Du’s.
“You’ve made a breakthrough?”
Jia Du was taken aback to see that Zhuang Dou’s aura matched his own, both at the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven.
“I’ve been at this level for several days now.”
Zhuang Dou chuckled. His breakthrough to the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven was all thanks to his son. Without Zhuang Xing’s Top Grade Pill, who knows how long it would have taken him to reach this level.
Unexpectedly, Jia Du burst into laughter, leaving everyone perplexed.
“Jia Du, what’s so funny?”
Zhuang Dou couldn’t fathom the reason, but Jia Du’s laughter gave him a bad feeling.
Jia Du replied, “Zhuang Dou, today I intended only to deal with Zhuang Xing. But since you’re intervening, don’t blame me for what comes next.”
With a clap of his hands, a new group of people emerged, causing a stir among the onlookers.
“The Chai family? What are they doing here?”
“I’m not sure. Let’s just watch and see.”
“For some reason, I sense that Cloud Peak City might be on the cusp of change.”
“I share that sentiment.”
Zhuang Dou’s expression grew grim. “Chai Shi, what is the meaning of this?”
Chai Shi, the head of the Chai family, gave Zhuang Dou a look and laughed lightly. “I have no ulterior motives. It’s just that the Zhuang family seems to have claimed a lot of land, and we’d like you to share some of it with us.”
The Zhuang family members’ expressions turned grave, sensing that Chai Shi was intent on encroaching upon their holdings.
Previously, there had been some disputes between the Zhuang family and other clans, but these conflicts were largely confined to the realm of business. In most other areas, there was a mutual restraint, as none were confident they could decisively defeat their rivals.
Zhuang Xing’s recent actions were like a spark to tinder, setting off the long-standing animosities among the major families.
Jia Du burst into hearty laughter and said, “Brother Shi, hold off Zhuang Dou for me. I’ll take care of this little bastard first. Then, we can divide the Zhuang family’s wealth between us.”
Chai Shi nodded in agreement. The power balance among Cloud Peak City’s major players was relatively even; none could overpower the others single-handedly, making collaboration essential.
“Jia Du, Chai Shi, do you not fear the chaos you’re inviting upon Cloud Peak City with your reckless behavior?” Zhuang Dou bellowed in anger.
Jia Du retorted furiously, “Zhuang Dou, your son must atone for crippling my daughter. Today, I will drive the Zhuang family out of Cloud Peak City. Kill them all, leave no survivors.”
“At once.”
Following his command, the Jia family charged forward, and a brutal battle ensued.
“Bastard, you’ve crippled my daughter. Today, I will break your arms and legs, and shatter your dantian. I want you to live in agony,” Jia Du snarled at Zhuang Xing, his gaze venomous. Learning of his daughter’s fate had sent him into a towering rage, and he was determined to exact retribution.
Zhuang Xing responded with a serene smile, “Jia Du, Chai Shi, the Jia and Chai families have no reason to exist beyond today. You will henceforth be a part of Cloud Peak City’s history.”
At this, the crowd erupted into laughter. Zhuang Xing, considered a nobody, had the audacity to make such a bold claim, which was laughably absurd to them.
“Hahaha, you delusional bastard, you’re so full of yourself. You think you can annihilate both the Jia and Chai families?” Jia Du wasn’t angry; instead, he found it amusing, his eyes brimming with contempt.
Chai Shi was no different. A mere kid, still green and inexperienced, yet he had the audacity to be so brazen and boastful.
Zhuang Xing burst forth from the midst of the Zhuang family crowd. His fists clenched tightly, he surged forward with the force of a thunderclap and the power of his formidable punches aimed at Jia Du.
His departure from Cloud Peak City was imminent. Before leaving, he was determined to rid his family of any lurking threats. By doing so, he could depart without any lingering concerns, his mind at ease.
Cloud Peak City was a minor locale, its resources too scant to offer substantial aid to his cultivation. But now, having advanced to the Spirit Wheel Stage, he possessed a newfound strength. He was ready to venture out and face the trials of the world. History has shown that true strength isn’t nurtured in the sheltered confines of a conservatory; it’s forged through the trials and tribulations of real-world experience. Only through the crucible of life-and-death challenges could he ascend step by step, evolving into an unrivaled powerhouse.
