Chapter 44 Soul suppression
44 Soul suppression
WOOSH! The dagger appeared, he twirled it and placed it back in its sheath, both Christopher and Roland were stunned as they never knew Derek's control was now this good.
For a case like Derek's it should take quite a long time to master and control their mediums deftly, there was no such time for Derek considering what had happened since he came. But Derek managed to surprise them once again.
A smile appeared on Derek's face, it felt nice to shock these experts for once, being told he was weak was quite uncomfortable even though they weren't wrong.
"You're good kid, now let's try something new," Christopher said with a deep voice, and this did not mean anything good for Derek.
Before he could digest Christopher's words a massive pressure bore down on him, instantly causing his knees to quake as his bones began to ache. This shocked him to his core, not even two seconds have passed but he has lost most of his strength. He felt like his strength was being sucked with a straw, a strange illusionary field surrounded him as it bore down him like a proud entity demanding respect going as far as forcing him to accept.
An invisible ice field began to freeze his mind slowly encroaching into his soul, though it began to slow.
Roland went to a chair and sat whilst watching Derek struggle to break Christopher's soul suppression. Derek's hand went towards his hilt as he pulled out his eastern dagger and threw it, the dagger lodged into the metal wall but Derek didn't teleport, his eyes widened as he couldn't understand what was going on luckily Roland's voice entered his ears "you can't teleport when suppressed Derek, you're in a cage and you must first break out before you can escape"
"How… do… i.. br… break out" Derek struggled to speak as his knees finally hit the floor "You can`t, when suppressed by your enemy only death awaits, there is no escape"
Upon hearing Roland`s words Derek scowled, he didn't believe such rubbish, wasn't Christopher a master-ranked teleporter and he could still withstand his suppression, his thoughts were seen through by Christopher whose relaxed expression changed.
A serious expression graced his face "Derek this is to curb that stupid notion about soul suppression, you don`t understand the difference between ranks let me show you one!" his eyes glowed and his coat fluttered, Derek felt a giant hammer slam against his back, BAM!. Derek`s face slammed into the floor and he fainted. Staring at the passed-out Derek, Roland spoke "Don't you think you used more than needed"
"Nah… I'm doing this to save him, he would get himself killed should he run towards his enemies thinking he`s good enough, he knows nothing about teleporters! He knows nothing about his abilities!"
Roland nodded when he heard Christipher's words, except in his silver state Derek was weak. They named Derek`s weird state when his mind is filled with slaughter; SILVER STATE. "Are his daggers different?" Roland queried while he played with his cigarette case, he couldn't smoke here so he just played with the matter. "I`ve seen what that dagger with the eastern symbol can do, and it`s in a different dimension different from normal teleportation but it also seems to have serious drawbacks."
"Hmmm." Roland hummed while rubbing his chin.
…..
Three hours later~ Derek and Christopher left the building, the compound was super wide with only parking spots and different cars everywhere, there was not a single tree only a well-marked asphalt road. "Well your point was hardly proven and I mean literally!" Derek grumbled while rubbing his face, he had been arguing with Christopher since he woke up and their argument bore no fruit as Christopher stood his ground.
While walking on the path marked for pedestrians "Where`s your car?" Derek asked.
"I don`t have a car" Christopher shrugged and continued walking leaving Derek who stared at him with disbelief visible on his face, how could a master-ranked teleporter like Christopher who worked for Urth Federation be this stingy even to himself? Derek did not believe that Christopher didn't have the impossible money.
He rushed to catch up with Christopher was a few meters ahead of him, the bright sunlight glistened on Derek's face as he ran towards Christopher unknown to him two men were watching him through the dark windows of their car.
After walking under the heatless sun he finally reached the gate, it was a wide net-like gate and guards manned their positions checking every car that entered or left, their jobs were much easier with the aid of a round ball-like device that floated mid-air and scanned the vehicles, they had a single eye like a sensor which projected a red light that scanned every inch of the vehicles.
Though the guards did the job for pedestrians, the number of people walking was quite few, especially since the place was vast.
"Dad, why haven't the scientist created a sun that has heat?" a thirteen-year-old boy asked his dad who shook his head and responded, "I don't know but when you become a scientist you will find out".
In response to his words, the boy nodded vigorously, "Wow! Being a scientist or soldier is the best career these days, most of my friends studied under a similar category…. The days of being a lawyer or a doctor are gone"
Derek said to Christopher who chuckled "What did you study kid?" Derek's face changed and he scratched the back of his head "... busi…" he couldn't finish as the people around looked at him. He raised his brows and continued "I was deemed too weak to join the important battle class and…" He couldn't finish his words as some people sighed and looked at him with pity, Derek was confused about what was wrong with these people.
Unknown to Derek they saw him like a guy who couldn't even form a manageable lie, it was pitiful seeing him try, who would look at Derek's tall and lean athletic body and say he wasn't suitable for battle class?
They finally crossed the gates and Christopher hailed a taxi as a light green hover car stopped before them and they went in "Vista" Christopher said and the driver nodded.
After a while, they reached a building that had see-through glass with people eating inside, both the lighting and aesthetics of the place were both amazing and refreshing. They found a seat and Derek looked around, this place was a high-class restaurant with both the look of the building and the people eating, Derek was beginning to think he wasn't in a normal sector. Besides he didn't know how to order food, back at stronghold eleven they usually go to the counter.
Christopher pressed a small button on the round silver table and a holographic menu appeared Christopher selected his dish, waved his hand and the hologram floated towards Derek, Derek raised his arm and caught it. It felt weird holding something that seemed like air but he was quite hungry so he quickly selected his dish and clicked the send option.
While Derek enjoyed his dish a black car arrived with two men staring at Derek through the see-through glass as Derek sat close to the glass wall. "He`s on sight should we move?" the first man questioned through his watch, few seconds later a message appeared on the watch`s screen [is he with anyone?].
They looked and saw Derek eating alone there wasn't anyone with him, though they remembered seeing him with someone before, the person must have left. With that fully checked they received the message to proceed, they checked their pistols and came out of the car when suddenly, WHOOSH!...
The wind blew strong and they were gone, the car door was still open and the men couldn't even scream.
