Chapter 9: Military base, somethings missing
Chapter 9: Military base, something's missing
He wore a black turtleneck top with black pants. His short black hair gleamed softly as he walked in with his right hand in his pocket. His pitch black eyes held no emotion.
His Aura caused everyone in the room to stare at him with shocked expression.
Derek had a slight Asian look which increased his looks to a different level, his mother had an Asian background.
'That's Derek!' Micheal gasped inwardly, he was totally shocked, this was not the Derek he remembered, both Luke and Jasmine had strange expressions and as experienced veterans in their field.
They saw more than just Derek's looks. They stared at each other and said in their minds, 'need to talk to Roland!!'.
Jake's face scrunched up, but he immediately fixed it, he snorted inwardly 'just looks...hump!'.
Vera was stunned as she expected Derek to be like other teleporters who usually have a serious breakdown without receiving a special serum which usually helps new awakeners pass this painful stage of feeling their bodies sucked dry of everything, she squinted her eyes 'maybe he didn't awaken' she thought.
Angel blinked twice and almost stood up but held herself when she remembered Derek's attitude last night and looking at Derek he was still indifferent.
Her bright mood was shattered as she lost her appetite. She got up and left the table. On her way, she heard Derek's voice. "You're leaving? Does my presence irk you? "
His voice was smooth and bland as he greeted her parents and sat down, Angel almost had an outburst but she held it, she did not want to annoy him more than he already is, she turned back and smiled "I would eat, if you feed me".
Derek blinked his eyes. Her words caught him off guard. "you were born with hands, weren't you? ", he scowled nonchalantly while he ate.
Jake was angry at the way this fool talked to his girlfriend. That's right, he already considered Angel his.
The others quietly left the room as they were done with their food. Angel also snorted and left angrily. Although she had not truly considered her feelings, she knew Derek had an important place in her heart.
Jake was once again entranced by her sexy figure, his eyes never left her slim waist and sexy ass, Micheal snorted, he had enough.
He Covered Jake's eyes and dragged him out of the room.
Derek ate his food quietly. He glanced at Vera, who stood there staring at him, his brows raised, but he decided to ignore her. After a while, a dangerous light flashed in Vera's eyes and she walked away.
When he was done, he strolled back to his room.
Outside the mansion, Luke and Jasmine were surprised to see Angel standing there with her military uniform. Her uniform changed her entire aura. She didn't even let them talk before saying "I'll be going back to base".
She turned and entered her hover bike. It made a light sound and light blue waves came out from the bottom. She wore her helmet and zoomed off. The gates opened, and she was gone.
Jasmine chuckled, "I've never seen her character out of place for a long time".
Luke shook his head and moved towards their vehicle, the butler opened the door and both Luke and Jasmine went in, the hover car also zoomed off, with Micheal and Jake entering the next vehicle and following suit.
Derek gazed at the sun from the floor-to-ceiling glass window, he did not feel the warmth he felt from his previous life, although he knew it was fake, he smiled and this was a genuine smile, the maids who were close by, were stunned when they saw the ice man smile, it was a beautiful sight.
Derek had been named the ice man because using the word cold was not enough for his attitude.
This was the first time Derek realized he missed something from Earth. Soon his smile disappeared, and he reverted to his usual expression. He turned away from the window and walked out of his room. Since he was free, he decided to go to the library.
He asked a maid and she told him there was a huge library In the building, when he came to this world it had already lost the warmth of the sun for a few years and the war against the nightmares had just begun but since everything seemed far away from a normal guy like him he never bothered to know much about the situation.
He only knew about the strongholds but never knew how many, while walking he rubbed his chin 'is there going to be a book about the top organizations', he thought, he felt like he forgot something and it was important, but he just couldn't remember.
When he finally entered the library, his expression changed. Was this a library?. There was no single book, only huge holograms and holovisions. The room was enormous, and some holograms were talking monotonously.
Some were about the history of Xon, famous scientists, and the main thing Derek needed to know, the teleporters.
Derek went closer to a screen, he frowned as he was in a dilemma, he didn't know how to use such an advanced device.
The device they used at college was not this advanced besides he never touched one. He thought for a while and walked around but the room was spotless, there was no remote kept anywhere.
He came back to the screen and stared at it for a while, he raised his arm intending to scratch his hair as it was his habit in such situations, suddenly the information he needed appeared, Derek's brows raised, he stared at his arms then brought it down and it scrolled down, he waved sideways and it came back to the shelf.
Derek smiled and pointed at what he wanted to read, it opened and Derek squinted his eyes in surprise when he saw the power ranking of teleporters, he thought they were all at the same level so this was new information to him, when he thought about sitting down a seat immediately came out from the floor.
Derek's lips curled up. He could get used to such luxury. He sat down and read for a few minutes before turning to the hologram
"Are you not supposed to read to me? Don't waste my time. I'm waiting. " He smiled and relaxed on the chair as it adjusted to his position. The hologram began talking.
But even though Derek listened, he also forgot it the next moment as his powers were better than teleporters, so learning about them seemed less interesting. When he had that thought, he turned to another screen, and the chair moved towards that position.
Derek chuckled slowly. He got down from the chair and stared at the title on this screen, SUPER HUMANS. His mind went back to what Angel had told him.
"Experiments," he muttered with knitted brows.
"Your meal is ready," He heard a female's voice.
Turning, his brows rose when he saw a maid standing at the door. With a gentle nod, he walked toward the door. He felt something was wrong, like some part of him was missing and his body's reaction was getting duller.
He could hear when 4 was talking from a far distance. His sense of smell was amazing and finally his eyesight, as a teleporter.
His eyesight had mutated to the level of an eagle, but since he woke up, he felt different. While walking towards his room, his mind flashed and his eyes widened. He finally remembered.

At a vast base, hundreds of military vehicles and advanced tanks were packed neatly, soldiers in dark camouflage moved about doing their various things while a few were marching.
They were recruits who had trained for almost a year now, so they were technically part of the army's major force now.
On the seventh floor underground, two long daggers placed separately in different glass boxes vibrated a little, but that little vibration caused the alarms to start blaring, causing the entire floor to enter a state of emergency.
A door slid open and the captain (Roland) barged in with rapid pace, he turned to a middle aged man wearing a white protective suit and hollered "what happened!".
The middle aged man fumbled around with the holovision for a while and turned to Roland "the dagger had a reaction, we think something is calling out to it".
He gasped with exhilaration and turned to his partner who was watching the holograms of two daggers, information about the daggers hovered around the hologram dagger, some red lights were now flashing on the quiet blue hologram.
"Is there any change?"
"Not really but the spatial waves it emits has increased, it's at the Y level" his partner said with squinted eyes while adjusting his glasses.
Roland tilted his head,"Y level?!!".
The middle aged man walked towards the hologram and replied to Roland "yellow level".
"You could have just said yellow level rather than the confusing alphabet, this is the very same reason you have problems talking with soldiers" Roland said while shaking his head.
The two scientists shrugged and said at the same time,"we need a faster process".
