Chapter 185: Double Booster (2)
Chapter 185. Double Booster (2)
After rubbing his eyes for a while with both of his hands, Vulcan looked at the bookcase again.
Even after that, the enormous amount of books on skills did not disappear, instead they continued to display all their worth for Vulcan to behold.
Elated beyond his imagination, he struck up a conversation with the store NPC.
“May I possibly examine the books?”
-It is possible. However, prior to purchasing the books, you cannot examine the books’ contents. You can read the short descriptions of each book, at best.
Certainly, he did not expect to see the details of the contents.
What he was most curious about was whether or not there existed, among all the collection of these skills, anything that was outstanding enough to help him.
‘It was the case that depending on the level limitations, the difference in the powers was so big even within the same leveled legendary skills. On top of that, the most of the skills might have nothing to do with my field…. Uh, should there be just whole bunch of books on demon energy utilization skills, I would be so deflated.’
However, Vulcan’s such concern was unfounded.
That was because, as the helper NPC stated with certainty, the inside of the bookstore was filled with the books which recorded all kinds of skills in them.
Of course, as it was a place for the true demons, most of the skills were based on utilizing the dark demon energy, or energy that was close to it.
Also, Vulcan’s expression cringed incrementally as the time went on just based on what he has read in the introductory paragraphs because one would undoubtedly harden his face due to some of them requiring terrible ingredients or actions that would induce vomiting.
However, after stomaching all that and viewing many sections in the bookstore, Vulcan was able to, finally, discover the skills in the field that he was interested in.
That was, the skills that could be learned even without any addition of demon energy and which anyone could learn.
In the midst, there was a section in the bookcase where it was filled with ‘magic skill books’ which could be initiated with pure magic, and requiring neither internal energy, nor voodoo magic.
Although the section was marginal in terms of the volume compared to the entire content of the bookstore, Vulcan could not help, but be surprised since the quantity easily went beyond his expectation.
Vulcan’s body heated up with from being elated.
After selecting a few books with the same excitement of a 7 year old, opening Christmas presents, and he examined them by using the system.
[Legendary skill level – Ragnos’ fire spear]
[Level Limitation: 700 Lv]
[Proficiency limitation: Above SS level for fire mastery]
It was the skill created by Ragnos, the ancient demon king, who was infatuated with the pure fire power, rather than demon energy. It summons the great trident over 30 meters long. It could be held personally in a fight, or it could be thrown at the enemy for piercing them through. Incredible amount of physical and fire powers would be accompanied.
[Legendary skill – Underworld sword]
[Level limitation: 1300 Lv]
[Proficiency limitation: Over SSS level for fire mastery]
It was the skill of the great demon king, with limitless prestige, who was at the top of the underworld of Naraka. By utilizing the magic in the body, internal energy, or demon energy, it allows the ability to swing a sword on which the ultimate heat would reside on the sword. With the underworld sword just by simply getting closer, everything in the vicinity would melt and form a sea of larva.
…………
[Legendary skill – Volcano explosion]
[Level limitation: None]
[Proficiency limitation: Above SS level for fire mastery]
It was a technique that exerts awesome power by exploding the fire in the vicinity. Depending on the understanding level and the quantity of the magic power of the one who would execute the skill, the difference in the power would vary greatly. It was a magic that was on a different plain than that of the explosion magic used by the sorcerers in the lower world.
“Oh! Alright! It’s the best!”
“This is it! This is it!’
Elated from having so many books on the skills that were relevant to flame which was a good fit for character, Vulcan went berserk with the utmost satisfaction.
Vulcan went crazy, causing great commotion, as if he has become the owner of those books.
Seeing him in that way, several true demons laughed quietly.
“That fool, it appears that he hasn’t seen the price of the underworld sword.”
“Kk, besides, he is so occupied with indiscriminately picking the highest level magic which can easily take several hundred years to learn. He must have just come in to Naraka. He is so happy, looking at the pie in the sky.”
No matter, who the listener was, their comments certainly downplayed Vulcan’s ability.
However, Vulcan’s feeling wasn’t hurt despite their sarcastic laughter.
In fact, he had enough poise to even subtly smile at the true demons as they talked in this way.
The true demons responded with a sneer at his unexplainable smile as they turned their heads, and Vulcan, too, sneered back at them, internally.
‘Learning it is not an issue for me. Well….of course, it would require longer training time before it can be used more delicately and proficiently though.’
Of course, even with considering that, he would be able to learn the skill with more efficiency than those other true demons.
On top of that, there was no worry over money, either.
He wasn’t able to tell how much the reward would be since he hasn’t completed the quest, but based on the size of the reward had when he completed the quest in god mode, he was sure that the reward would be sizable.
Putting on a happy expression once again, he searched for the books which used pure magic without any demon energy.
Certainly, as the section was for the demons that were friendly to flames, most of the magic was in the area of flame skills.
After storing the skills, which would help him, and would raise his battle power at least by a level, in his head, Vulcan left the store without any hesitation.
Based on the helper of the novices, he did not have to worry about the inventory running low since the helper said that the supplies in the Naraka’s convenient facilities were limitless.
‘Since there is a lot of time, maybe, I should look into the other stores, today. Also, get more information from the helper of the novices, too. Ah, the hunting grounds as well…..’
After organizing what he had to do in his head, he moved after a short time, and that’s how he spent one day in Naraka.
“Hm……”
Vulcan took one whole day to investigate the city in Naraka.
Lying in a room that was provided to the true demons for free of charge, he revisited the day.
Overall, the day was filled with quite a bit of surprises.
The existence of the helper NPCs which provided easy to understand explanations on the overall Naraka system was just the beginning.
The bookstore that was filled with so many rare and precious ‘mythical level skills’ which were difficult to obtain in Asgard where in even the multitudes of masters convened.
General merchandise store with various potions and wonder drugs with as excellent performance levels as those that were made by Powell.
And there was also a weapon store that had equipment after equipment which the master craftsmen in Asgard would even be hesitant to try making.
Every one of them was astonishing.
‘Of course, they were slightly below grade of the strengthened demon king set which I was using though…. Still, it was unbelievable to see so many of legendary level, mythical level equipment to be displayed like that….. On top of that, they continue to get produced without any limitations like the monsters get regenerated. It’s unbelievable.’
Most likely, if he was to return to Asgard and tell the residents who were in Act 2 about these facts, there wouldn’t be anyone who would believe him.
Even for him, up until he has experienced Naraka, was he not able to fathom that such place would exist?
‘Right. I can’t explain it logically, either….Even though I have the player’s capability.’
When his thoughts reached the topic of the player, he let out a small laughter.
Come to think of it, the capabilities of the players like himself, Jake, Uro, and other players were strange that they could not be logically explained, either.
It was true that he, too, was an entity which was beyond logic, perhaps, more so than Naraka.
Being such an entity himself, it dawned on him that it was funny to consider Naraka as a place that was simply unexplainable.
‘In some way…. There are many common things between Naraka and a player…. A player, as it implies, feels like a character that popped out from a game. But Naraka…. Feels like a city or the system itself has popped out from inside the game?’
Thinking it in such terms, the unique and friendly convenient facilities inside Naraka could be accepted more easily by Vulcan.
And as his thoughts headed in that direction, Vulcan finally realized that he had some sense that the system has led him to the demon mode.
‘It wanted the simultaneous use of the convenient facilities in Naraka, and….The player’s system that was inside me.’
Vulcan became ever more serious.
He continued to think, as he nodded, by giving credence to what he was speculating.
If anyone was to ask what that one thing which gave him the most influence in his growth was, then Vulcan would say that it would be the player capability without any hesitation.
Of course, based on Verner’s comments, his talent was greatly outstanding even when the player’s capabilities were not considered.
However, he could not deny the fact that the player’s capability, the system have made his talent shine even more.
It was, perhaps, also a possibility that without the leveling up via the system and the skill attainment system, there might not have been the occasional understandings, either.
In other words, it was as if it were the incredible abilities of either encountering well timed coincidences, or having access to a cheat sheet.
And the player Vulcan, who had the talent over those great abilities, was in Naraka at this time.
That was, in Naraka which could be viewed as the city version of the game system.
That meant…..
‘It was possible to apply….the system’s awesome conveniences multiple times.’
That would certainly be great synergy affect.
Vulcan knew for sure that this wasn’t just a delusion, but reality that would soon come true.
He would freely choose the mythical level skills that fit his needs from the store, as his heart desired, when he would be able to appropriate all the necessary funds for that purpose with the rewards given with the completion of the quest.
From that time on…. He would reach the level that of which it would not be an overstatement to describe him as someone holding all the coincidences of the world.
‘And…There was one more thing that needed to be verified.’
Placing his head on his hands, he lied down and recollected the entire day.
Vulcan thought of one incidence that gave him a big impression at the bookstore with the helper of the novice in Naraka.
He rested in preparation for the hunting for the next 50 years, and as soon as the next day came, he immediately went to the hunting ground.
Although he did not have the map which could be bought from the convenience facility as he did not have any money, Vulcan was able to obtain the information on a good hunting ground from the helper of the novices.
Without any delay, he moved to arrive at the regular hunting ground of Naraka.
“You lowly undead garbage, calling yourself a true demon and…..”
“Better than you bastard whose brain is also overgrown muscles. If you are not capable, don’t waste any space and just get lost.”
“You little bug…. You would have been already torn up to death if there weren’t the demon god’s laws!”
“How could I get torn up, having only bones? You are certainly a fool.”
As I had heard from Kaozinta several years ago, there were a lot of quarrels, perhaps, because Naraka lacked high level hunters compared to the number of true demons.
Originally, about 30,000 years ago, it was said that new hunting ground was born based on the increase in the number of true demons, but all updates have stalled in Naraka, since then.
‘The temple of fire and lightning was also born in 30,000 years of time…..’
It appeared that his system capability might have affected something in Naraka.
It was a very interesting occurrence.
However, it wasn’t the right time to think about that.
In order to test out his theory, while the attention of the arguing true demons’ attentions were diverted, Vulcan lashed with his lightning and fire sword at the monster which has just been regenerated.
Aaaaahk!
The ancient monster whose level was only 1200 died screaming like a human with a single shot, and the two true demons, having witnessed this event, came over to Vulcan and began to pummel him with all sorts of vulgarity.
Of course, as it wasn’t possible to cause harm between the true demons, they weren’t able to physically threaten Vulcan.
And there wasn’t enough attention for Vulcan to spare to their antics.
Only
The supposition he had made after verifying something about the ‘demon god’s statue’ which was one of the convenience facilities in Naraka.
It was because when that was verified as being a fact, it gave Vulcan an incredible pleasure.
[Your experience has been raised.]
[Your accomplishment has been raised.]
[The accomplishments that you have attained through Naraka’s system may be exchanged with experience at the demon god’s statue in the city.]
‘An event that doubled the experience…. Or it could be called a double booster.’
A self complacent smile filled Vulcan’s face.
Leveling up was going to be much quicker from now on, he thought.
