Although Xiang Wai wanted to stay longer in Country Ge, after a few days, she got bored and was all alone. She was someone who liked excitement but she couldn't get excited about anything. Everyone had something to do and left for their own destinations. Finally, Xiang Wai also took the plane back home.

Even after coming home, she was bored. Since Zhai Yanjun was on a mission, she couldn't even contact him. Seeing how the days were only getting longer and longer for her, she decided to stop acting like a lazy rice bug.

She changed into her uniform and proudly patted the badges pinned on her chest. Fixing her hair, she took out all her documents and drove her army jeep to the Military academy. Since she couldn't find anything exciting, it was better to go and bully some youngsters... Cough! She meant to train the future soldiers of the nation!

Now, she found something else to do so she changed her direction and ran toward it. After a year or two even if she got bored here, she didn't mind taking the early retirement and going back home.

Anyway, the world was big enough and filled with a lot of things waiting for her to explore too. Why would she bind herself to only one place?

Xiang Wai had gotten used to the pace of the academy in the week and received another call from her cousin Song Daiyu on this day. Xiang Wai looked at the phone screen for a long time before taking the call, "What is it?"

"Do you have time?" asked the girl from the other side.

"Do we have to meet face-to-face?" questioned Xiang Wai. "Why are you being stubborn about it? You never had such a strong desire to meet me. I almost forgot I had a cousin like you."

"You can forget me if you want to but you really have to meet me. I don't wanna talk about this with Aunt Xin'ai. Please, if you have time then come to see me. And if you don't have time, then make time for me. I only need half an hour."

Xiang Wai thought about it once again and checked the time, "Where are you? Where should we meet?"

Song Daiyu seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief before she told the name of the place. Xiang Wai agreed and sorted out her work. Finally, she took her car keys and left.

When she appeared at the bakery, Song Daiyu was already inside sitting by the window drinking hot coffee. Seeing Xiang Wai, Song Daiyu stood up and waved at her.

As Xiang Wai sat down in front of her, Song Daiyu sat up straight like she was sitting in the presence of a teacher. She couldn't help it either. She had always been scared of this cousin of hers. It was quite surprising that this fear hadn't lessened or gone over these years. It had even increased with time.

Especially when Song Daiyu looked at the crisp uniform on Xiang Wai's tall frame that gave her an even more imposing air. Song Daiyu gulped down her saliva and put down her hands on her lap. She realized that her hands were shaking and she couldn't even hold the cup of coffee firmly.

"Speak," said Xiang Wai succinctly.

Song Daiyu licked her dry lips and breathed heavily. "What would you like to drink?"

Xiang Wai narrowed her eyes at her, "Do you think I'm here to drink with you?"

"But you can have a cup of coffee right?"

Xiang Wai stood up and went to order a drink for herself. She soon came back and sat down with Song Daiyu again. "Okay, I've ordered. Now, what?"

Song Daiyu smiled awkwardly and her eyes wandered around nervously. She didn't know how to start the conversation. She had tried so hard to convince herself to come here to see Xiang Wai and now she was getting cold feet. She was really scared that Xiang Wai would get angry and might even hit her. Just the memory of how Xiang Wai once beat her brother was enough to make her shudder.

"You know, I have no interest in admiring your fearful look," commented Xiang Wai as she noticed how Song Daiyu wasn't saying anything and looked so nervous. "What is it? Why did you exactly call me here?"

Song Daiyu took another sip of the hot coffee and said, "I heard about your sister's wedding. Congratulations! How was the wedding? I have never even met her. I wanted to buy a gift for her wedding but considering how she might not like the fact that I'm from the Song family, I dropped the idea."

"Are you also trying to cozy up to Raelle through me?"

Song Daiyu shook her head and even waved both her hands. "No. No way. How can I do such a thing? I'd never do it. Your sister is Raelle Xiang. We belong to different worlds. I wouldn't wanna get close to her."

"If it's not about that, then what is it?" questioned Xiang Wai. "Don't waste my time or I'm gonna leave."

Song Daiyu pursed her lips and said, "Don't leave just yet. I do have something serious to tell you."

"Then be upfront about it. Don't dawdle as it is annoying me now. Do you understand what I am saying?"

Song Daiyu nodded her head and finally took a deep breath. "Okay. Don't lose your temper after hearing this."

"I'll try."

Song Daiyu gulped visibly, "I heard something and since I heard it, I haven't been able to have a good night's sleep. I thought about it long and hard before deciding to contact you. I felt like I needed to tell you this or I won't be able to live with my conscience."

Xiang Wai also became serious when she saw how serious Song Daiyu looked right now. This was unusual no matter how she looked at this situation. So, she was really curious now about what was bothering Song Daiyu and what could possibly put her in this situation.

"You might not know but I have been having a hard time with my mother lately because of my boyfriend. That day too I argued with her and went to the garden to escape her nagging. I was hiding behind the rockery like I always did when I was a kid. That's where I heard Grandma and Grandpa talking."

"About what?"

"It was the day when little aunt went to look for cousin Raelle at her company. When she came back empty handed and was also humiliated out there, everyone was quite mad in the family especially our grandparents. I heard Grandma say at that time, 'I'm so regretful that this evil seed managed to survive even after that kidnapping. That organization should have just killed her if they couldn't take her away. If I knew they were so useless, I'd have strangled this girl with my own hands instead of giving her to those useless people who claimed that no one could escape from their hold.'"

Xiang Wai's eyes widened as she stared straight at Song Daiyu with such intensity that she made the girl stutter but she still managed to share what she heard. Song Daiyu observed her expression for a long while before adding, "I thought about it a lot before piecing together the information that they were talking about cousin Raelle at that time. I heard that your family broke because cousin Raelle was kidnapped right after birth. But how she got kidnapped from such high security military hospital had always been a mystery. I believe this would solve the mystery. I had been in shock since then and hadn't been sleeping well too. I always knew that grandparents were partial but I didn't know that they could be so evil hearted too. It chilled my heart to core."

Xiang Wai grapsed the edge of the wooden table and looked like she was gonna break it. But she was holding back her strength, she couldn't lose her temper here. Not right now. It won't be good if she did it here.
