Chapter 1412 : Vows
"Found it!" announced Zhai Yanjun in excitement. "Now, you can't say that I'm useless."
Looking at his proud expression, Shui Xian was not convinced and said, "Open it first."
Zhai Yanjun opened the box to prove something but inside lay a card with a clown drawn on it. His smile fell and he closed the door immediately. He heard Xiang Wai's laughter and gave her a look.
Xiang Wai stuck out her tongue at him saying, "You really think it's that easy?"
Zhai Yanjun sighed and resigned himself to this situation. He turned to get back to finding the shoes. Cui Xukun also found a box from behind the curtain but he didn't tell anyone and secretly opened it. Seeing the dancing clown card inside, he closed the box, placed it right back where he found it, and pretended like this hadn't happened at all.
Shui Xian understood one thing about the people in the bride's team. They were all troublemakers including Mu Chenyan. They all wanted to laugh at him too but he won't let this happen. He will prove them all wrong and find Raelle's shoes.
He had to think out of the box now to find the shoes. Where could they hide the shoes which he would never think of?
After thinking about it for a while, Shui Xian ran to look outside the window. He didn't find anything but that didn't dampen his spirit at all. He rushed to the other window and looked down. He smirked when he really saw a box hanging down. He pulled the rope and took the box. Looking inside, he found the red shoes and his smile deepened.
He knew it!
How could these people play by the rules?
See? His thinking out of the box worked!
He rushed to put the shoes in front of Raelle and then held her feet in her hands to put on the shoes for her with his own hands. Then he went to wash his hands and came back to hold Raelle's hand, "Wife, let's go and get married!"
Raelle tilted her head up and looked at his face through the thin red veil on her head. She looked at his gentle smile and grasped his hand tightly.
"Hey, why did you find it so soon?" questioned Xiang Wai.
"Because he understands you all," replied Raelle for Shui Xian. "Don't bother him now."
"But we are not done yet."
"But I'm done," was Raelle's response, and that shut everyone else up.
The wedding ceremony was about to begin. The main courtyard was adorned with a grand altar, where the couple would bow to Heaven and Earth, to their ancestors, and finally to each other. Red paper cuttings of double happiness symbols were displayed on every surface, and fragrant incense filled the air. Guests, dressed in their finest attire, sat around in anticipation, speaking in whispers.
As Raelle was led outside, there was an audible gasp from the crowd. She looked radiant in her red gown, a perfect blend of elegance and tradition. Shui Xian turned to see her, feeling proud that the woman by his side was his wife. His gaze softened as their eyes met through the thin veil, a private moment between them even amidst the grand spectacle of the day.
Whenever their eyes met, there was an electric spark between them.
Together, they walked toward the altar, surrounded by the gentle glow of lanterns. The sounds of traditional instruments filled the air, their melodies sweet and harmonious. They performed the ceremonial bows, each movement precise and steeped in meaning, honoring their ancestors and the bond they were about to forge.
This time, their relationship wasn't private but was on display in front of everyone in their circle who should know about it. The guests came from all over the world. Even the executives from their respective companies came to attend this wedding from afar.
Those who knew Raelle in Country G weren't surprised by the spectacle but those who had a basic understanding of Raelle through media and business partners were really appalled to see this grand castle which was said to belong to the bride. It showed what kind of status she had.
There were plenty of people who felt regretful for not trying to get close to Raelle because of her reputation. They only got to come here because of their association with Shui Xian's business.
Shui Xian stood before Raelle, the flicker of lanterns casting a warm glow on their faces. His hands trembled slightly as he held hers, but his gaze was steady, full of love that reached deep into his soul. The crowd around them seemed to fade as he focused only on her, his bride, the woman who had forever changed his life.
"I know that there are no vows in this kind of wedding but I'd still like to say something," He took a breath, his voice steady but thick with emotion. "Raelle," he began softly, his words filled with reverence. "From the moment I met you, my world changed in ways I could never have imagined. You walked into my life with your strength, your grace, your beauty, and without realizing it, you took my heart in your hands."
He paused, his voice growing a little quieter as he spoke from the depths of his heart. "I thought I knew what love was before you, but you... you showed me that love isn't just about the happiness we feel in each other's presence. It's about the way you challenge me to be a better man every day. The way you calm my storms and become the one place I can always find peace. You are my guiding star, Raelle, the light that leads me when everything feels uncertain."
Raelle's eyes were glued on his face as she didn't understand why he was saying this right now but she didn't stop him. As he continued, his words grew more intense, more passionate. "In you, I found someone who is fierce and unyielding, but also tender and kind in her own way. You taught me that love isn't just about holding on when things are easy, but about standing side by side when life is hard, unafraid of the storms we will face together."
He squeezed her hands gently, his voice trembling slightly with emotion. "I vow to love you with everything I have, for all the days of my life. I promise to cherish you, to protect you, and to support you in every dream you chase. I will be the man who stands by your side through every challenge, every joy, every sorrow. You are the love of my life, my partner, my everything, and I am so honored to call you mine."
He paused for a moment, tears glistening in his own eyes now. "Raelle, you are my heart, my soul, the very reason I breathe. I will love you fiercely and endlessly, as long as there is breath in my body, and even beyond that. Today, I don't just give you my hand, I give you all of me—forever. And I'll make sure that I always stay as your definition of love."
The crowd was silent, the emotion in Shui Xian's voice filling the air, leaving the emotional people's eyes wet among the guests. His love for Raelle was palpable, his vows a testament to a man who had found the one person who completed him in every way. Perhaps he was taking this moment to prove to everyone that Raelle was the most important to him and they shouldn't get any ideas or maliciously speculate about their relationship behind their backs all the time.
Just because he didn't say anything didn't mean that he didn't know anything at all.
"No matter how much I learn to talk, I really can't win against you," said Raelle as she squeezed his hand feeling the emotions surging in her heart. She knew that only this man could bring such intense emotions to her. She could never feel this way with anyone else. "Then I'll be keeping an eye on you to make sure that you fulfill all these vows."
Shui Xian wiped the tear that escaped his eye and smiled at her, "Please, do keep an eye on me. Keep a close eye. Never let me escape."
"I'll have to tie you with myself then."
Shui Xian showed her their intertwined hands saying, "We are already tied together, darling. And this bond is stronger than anything else."
"I feel a little envious," said Mu Chenyan.
"Why? Because we didn't hold a wedding like this?" questioned Xia Zhao. "If you say..."
Seeing his eager expression, Mu Chenyan squeezed his arm, "Don't you dare think about letting me go through this."
Xia Zhao tsked at her, "No wonder Raelle is so afraid of trouble. She definitely takes after you."
"Of course, my daughter will take after me," replied Mu Chenyan smugly but Xia Zhao could see the mist in her eyes, indicating that she wanted to cry right now but was holding herself back.
