Chapter 1359 Fair Person
Chapter 1359 Fair Person
Cloe went out but before she could go back to her own office, she had to deal with some work. By the time she was done, it was already two hours later. She checked the time and then called Xiang Wai.
"Hello! Who is it?" came Xiang Wai's voice from the other side.
"You didn't save my number?" asked Cloe with a bit of anger that was hard to ignore in her voice right now.
Xiang Wai pushed her phone away from her ear and looked at the screen. Seeing the caller ID, she cleared her throat, "Oh, if it isn't the closest and most important asset of Raelle Xiang. How can I help you, Miss Cloe?"
"You recognized my voice?" asked Cloe.
"I have your number saved," answered Xiang Wai. "Why are you so ticked off over something so small? Anyway, why are you calling me right now? I didn't think we were close enough to call each other."
"I got a yes," told Cloe proudly. "I wanted to tell you how successful my proposal was."
Xiang Wai pursed her lips and asked, "Did you call to show off? I did not expect that from you."
"I'm not calling for that," said Cloe. "I'm calling to give you a sense of urgency. We bought the rings together. You're way behind me right now. Get things done. Your sister said she won't go celebrating my engagement unless and until you also get a yes."
"Raelle said that?" asked Xiang Wai looking particularly touched and warm.
Cloe rolled her eyes since Xiang Wai couldn't see her anyway on the phone call. But she still had to burst this bubble as she said, "Raelle Xiang isn't that nice. She just doesn't want to waste her time celebrating the same thing twice. So, she wants you to be done as well. That way we three can go to celebrate together."
Xiang Wai sighed, "You could have let me stay in my bubble."
"Can't do. My Chief says reality checks are necessary in life. They keep you grounded and humble in life."
"And you seem to follow your Chief's words to the t. Don't you?"
"Of course, I do. She pays me, you know. And she pays me well. Like really very good."
"Thanks for calling me poor in your corporate language that I'm unable to understand."
"My pleasure," responded Cloe. "But seriously, when are you gonna be done? I need to think about where to go to celebrate too."
"You can plan it however and whenever you want. Just let me know," answered Xiang Wai.
"What? Are you ready for the grand proposal?" asked Cloe. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"I have a yes too," replied Xiang Wai with clear arrogance and pride in her tone.
"What? When did that happen?" asked Cloe in shock. "Why didn't I hear anything about it? How did you do it? Share the details. I'll share mine too. Anyway, your sister isn't curious enough to listen to our excitement."
"That's something expected of Raelle, no?"
"True," agreed Cloe. "But seriously, when did it happen?"
"I'll tell you when we meet. For now, bye-bye!"
"Hey! Hey! What the hell! She hung up on me!" Cloe gritted her teeth. "These sisters are out for my blood today. Can't they just be normal?" She hurriedly went to knock on Raelle's door and as soon as she entered, she saw staff from the PR department in her office. "Is there anything?" asked Raelle. "If it's not related to work, let's talk after work."
Cloe nodded her head and backed off. But she had to hold this information in for a couple more hours. How was she gonna do that? She really wanted to share it with someone! Stupid Raelle and her stupid rules! Knowing that there was no other choice, she could only walk back to her office and get herself busy in work. Because she knew very well, only this way she could pass her time until the clock out time. Right when the clock hit five o'clock, she rushed to get to Raelle's side and panted from running this distance.
"Your physical endurance is detriorating. Or you're just getting old. Either way, it's not good," she heard from Raelle and this time, she didn't hold back and rolled her eyes at her. After all, they were off work now, she could do whatever she wanted now! "What is so urgent that you have been sneaking glances at me during the meeting too? What is that you can't hold in any longer?"
"Why didn't you tell me that your sister also succeeded in her proposal? I almost made a fool of myself rubbing it in. It's just that I'm thick skinned enough by now to not feel it anymore."
"Who succeeded?" asked Raelle.
"Wai!"
"She also got a yes?"
"Apparently," replied Cloe. "Wait! You didn't know?"
"Nope!"
"You should know that considering you guys live right next to each other. Why are you always so behind the trends?"
"I'm the trend! Why should I follow others?" asked Raelle. "Besides, she had gone to the military academy after we came back from the ancestral home. She had to sign in to her new job and take over her duties. Even though there hadn't been new students added, but there are still some things for her to do as the new instructor of the academy. So, it's not odd that I don't know about her life affairs. More so because I am not interested. And I don't care either!"
Cloe smiled widely when she heard that as if her wounded heart was finally soothed with those words. Seeing her strange smile, Raelle paused.
"What's up with that smile now?"
"I'm just happy," replied Cloe.
"Why?"
"Why wouldn't I be happy? I should be happy, no? Knowing that you don't treat me any different from your sister. We both have the same status in your life. You don't give a damn about what we are going through."
"I am a very fair person," was Raelle's answer to that.
