Chapter 241: Thanos Escapes Again!
Chapter 241: Thanos Escapes Again!
The Grandmaster intended to reconcile.
However, Wanda paid no heed to this. After battling Thanos for so long, her heart was naturally ablaze. This fire had not been extinguished since Thanos's escape.
Meanwhile, the Grandmaster was busy promoting the Champion's Tournament, completely disregarding everyone else.
This only fueled the fire within her even more.
The Grandmaster insisted on oppressing Wanda and others into becoming gladiators in the arena, thereby marking himself as an enemy in Wanda's eyes, just like Thanos.
Roaming the universe was inherently filled with danger and slaughter.
Since the Grandmaster had stepped forward, Wanda decided to deal with him decisively.
Boom!
A blast of air erupted. The Angewomon, wielding the Holy Sword, transformed into a burst of daylight and charged toward the Grandmaster. The Holy Sword, with a crushing force, aimed at the Grandmaster's head.
The Grandmaster's pupils shrank. The speed, power, and the cold glint of the Holy Sword's blade made his scalp tingle.
He did not doubt the consequences of being struck by that sword.
Without hesitation, he raised the emerald staff in his hand to block his head.
Bang!
The Holy Sword struck the staff with a thunderous crash, sending a terrifying shockwave sweeping in all directions, stirring the yellow sand on the ground into a rolling sea.
As the Angewomon launched the attack, Bella, Wanda, and others instantly left the planet.
They transported to Sakaar.
The Angewomon was left to deal with the Grandmaster, while Wanda and her group's target remained Thanos.
The battle on the desert planet was fierce. The clash of two god-like beings immediately affected the planet, causing various natural disasters. Fortunately, the planet was devoid of life, except for a few giant beasts that fed on the special soil, buried beneath the sand.
This was of no concern to Wanda's group, who promptly transported to the banquet hall of the former palace.
Topaz, leading the guards, was still diligently defending the banquet hall.
When Topaz saw Wanda's group materialize, her usually expressionless face was filled with tension. The other soldiers, weapons aimed at Wanda's group, looked murderous.
Wanda ignored them.
She closed her eyes.
An invisible wave swept across Sakaar, scanning the numerous life forms like an ocean. However, amidst this flood of life energy, she did not detect Thanos's unique presence.
She opened her eyes: "That guy has used special means to mask his presence. He knows quite a lot."
She then looked at the Grandmaster's bodyguard, Topaz.
As for the soldiers behind her, she didn't pay them any mind. The soldiers were already trembling in fear of the terrifying aura emanating from Thor and Pietro. If not for their loyalty, they would have fled already.
Or perhaps they simply couldn't escape.
In any case, when Topaz saw Wanda's gaze, she knew she had no choice.
She was ruthless, but not imprudent.
She didn't know where the Grandmaster had gone, but since Wanda and her group could appear unharmed before her while the Grandmaster remained absent, he was either being delayed by someone or...
She didn't dare imagine the latter possibility.
Topaz dutifully tapped her wristwatch twice, revealing a holographic projection of an empty, luxurious room.
This puzzled Topaz, and her expression quickly changed. She hurriedly swiped the projection to show the corridor outside the room, where a few soldiers and maids stood respectfully, seemingly unaware that the room was empty.
"How could this be?"
Topaz was perplexed. She didn't believe the soldiers and maids would dare release Thanos on their own, as they were the Grandmaster's private property. If Thanos had escaped, why would they remain in place?
The Grandmaster was not a reasonable person. Thanos escaping meant these people would be severely punished, if not executed.
Topaz knew the Grandmaster's ruthlessness well.
The holographic images continued to scroll, automatically searching for Thanos's image. Sakaar's surveillance was more advanced than Earth's, with micro cameras dispersed in the air, capturing footage across the entire planet and capable of monitoring individual homes undetected.
Despite the advanced technology, after three minutes, there was still no trace of Thanos.
Sakaar was large, and automated searches could take time. However, the Grandmaster's technology was among the most advanced in the universe, and three minutes should have been enough to find anyone, especially someone as distinctive as Thanos.
The absence of Thanos indicated he had likely left Sakaar.
Thanos had taken the opportunity to escape while the Grandmaster was distracted by these formidable individuals, a risky move that also deceived the Grandmaster.
The Grandmaster's previous grand announcements had turned into a laughingstock, inviting ridicule from other cosmic powers.
Would the Grandmaster let Thanos off?
Topaz was baffled, but she turned to Wanda's group and said, "I'm sorry, he may have already left Sakaar."
"He could only have left by ship. We can investigate those ships."
Topaz spoke quickly.
