MARVEL: GAME MAKER SYSTEM

Chapter 73: Fortnite Tutorial

"So… what should we do here?" Petter asked Ned, confused as he looked around.

Ned was also quite confused, not knowing very well what he would have to do. Fortunately, a few seconds later a screen appeared floating in front of them.

[Welcome to Fortnite, this location is the Hub where you can invite up to 3 friends to form a team. With the team formed, you will be able to join the queue to play with other players.]

[Since you are participating in the Beta version of the game, online game functions will be temporarily disabled.]

"We won't be able to play?" Ned was confused as he wondered what was the point of inviting him to the game if he couldn't even play.

But imagining this doubt, another screen appeared next.

[Here the player can participate in training on Fortnite features and game mechanics.]

[In: 13 hours, 57 minutes and 21 seconds a tournament will start between the 100 participants of the Closed Beta. Take your time to learn about the game, limited prizes will be awarded.]

"So there's going to be a tournament?!" Peter was excited.

But Ned noticed something else. "Apparently the tournament prize will be a limited item, meaning this will probably be as rare for Fortnite as the Ender Dragon skin is for Minecraft!"

Hearing this, not only was Petter shocked, but the millions of people watching the livestream were stunned as well.

They knew how important the Ender Dragon skin was in Minecraft, so seeing that they missed out on getting that award in Fortnite left a lot of people a little disappointed.

[Do you want to start the tutorial?]

A window appeared for Ned and Petter.

With nothing much to do, the two accepted.

After a second, the two found themselves on a school bus.

"What is this? Are we going to the battlefield by bus?" Ned asked confused.

But soon Petter replied shocked. "Ned, look out the window…"

Ned looked at the window and froze.

Unlike Minecraft where they saw the world as blocks, even though the graphics were a little realistic, it still looked like an animated world, but Fortnite was different, although it still looks a little cartoony, Alex made it very realistic using the Game Engine Battle Royale Triple A.

So when Petter and Ned were talking, it was like there really was a person in front of them.

This was a little weird for Ned, who was looking at a tall blond man with Petter's baby voice, but it was even weirder for Petter, who was seeing a pretty woman with brown hair talking with the voice of his friend Ned. .

When Ned looked out the window, in his mind what he was seeing was the real world!

A small one full of little dots like cities, jails, for some reason a giant wooden chair and various other things.

[This is the bus that will take players into battle.]

[You and your companions can make marks on the map just by thinking about it, thus forming a pillar of colored light where you have marked it, so that communication about locations is facilitated. Try to mark it on the map.]

Upon reading this, Ned looked at the strange giant chair and thought of marking it there.

In just a second a red symbol appeared, and at the same time a blue symbol appeared elsewhere, indicating that Petter had also succeeded.

[Very good. On the bus you will have 60 seconds to decide to jump, if the 60 seconds are up and you are still on the bus, all the windows will open at the same time sucking all the remaining players out to be ejected.]

[You have 20 seconds to jump…]

[You have 19 seconds to jump…]

Watching the countdown, Ned was startled to look down, while Petter was still a little better, as he wasn't too afraid of heights.

"Come on Ned, looks like fun!" Petter said excitedly as he moved to the front door of the bus, which had a light indicating they could jump.

Ned tried to calm down as he took shaky steps towards the bus door.

[Lol, stop being scared Ned, jump!]

[Damn, I wouldn't dare to jump from there ever, it's too realistic!]

[I think I don't need to bungee jump anymore and I can just have fun in this new game lmao.]

[…]

Seeing the onlookers mocking him, Ned took a deep breath and started running towards the door, even surprising Petter, who soon went with Ned and jumped right away.

"Woaaaaaahhhhh!!!" Ned screamed in fright as he felt the wind in his face and gravity pulling him down faster and faster.

"Hahahaa!" Ned heard Petter's voice laughing in his ear, as if he were wearing AirPods.

"Stop laughing, Petter!" Ned yelled angrily.

[While free-falling, you can use your body to control where you want to go by leaning over, slowing your fall by staying parallel to the ground, or speeding it up by staying vertical.]

[On your left waist is a Glider that will expand when the button is pressed, this will slow your fall speed, allowing you to fly farther.]

[When you reach 100 meters from the ground, the Glider will automatically open and attach itself to your body, only closing when you hit the ground, so control your falling speed well so as not to be shot before hitting the ground by players who have fallen further fast.]

After this initial surprise, Ned and Petter learned that there are weapons on the ground, chests with random weapons, learned how to use healing and shield items, even learned that they can drive cars they find on the street.

But their biggest surprise was a blue piece of paper with a pencil on their waist, that if they used this magic paper, they could use resources like wood, bricks or metal to build!

Petter spent some time building a wooden house, while Ned used his time to build a brick castle.

When they first learned that you could take resources and build them, they thought this Fortnite looked a bit boring since it wasn't that much different from Minecraft, apparently.

Until when they were in their houses, shots were heard outside, scaring both Ned and Petter!

When they looked out, two people were running while shooting at their houses, running away from a strange purple mist!
