Chapter 93: Everyone Understands (3)
To which Yan Cheng responded by lifting his brows and glancing back. It was true that he didn’t understand. But even so, he didn’t plan on arguing with her.
“Since we’re here, you should buy a bouquet of flowers for your mother too.” She smiled at her, saying this half-jokingly. “We can’t let your mother think that you’re like spilt water after you married your wife.”
Yan Cheng looked down at the fruit basket in his hands and said in a proper manner, “I can’t steal my father’s spotlight. He’s going to scold me again.”
Chen Jinyao looked at him pitifully like she was looking at a miserable and weak little animal. After a few seconds, she burst into laughter.
Mother Yan looked Yan Cheng up and down. After noticing that he was being extra flashy today, she looked at him in disdain.
But in front of her daughter-in-law, she couldn’t say much. She glared harshly at her son and then pulled Chen Jinyao enthusiastically into the home.
Yan Cheng was confused as to why he got glared at.
He looked down and shrugged, snorting as he followed behind the two.
Mother Yan started off with the usual words.
Mother Yan: “Yaoyao, if Little Six bullies you, tell mother.”
Yan Cheng exclaimed expressionlessly, “Mother, you’ve said this countless times.”
Since when do mothers mock their sons like that?
“I’ve been saying this to remind you too.” Mother Yan hmphed.
Chen Jinyao was stuck in the middle. She said helplessly, “Mother, don’t worry. He’s been very good.”
Yan Cheng was stunned.
Then, his heart was overwhelmed by happiness. Her confession filled his sense of vanity. He felt as if he was ascending to heaven. He reluctantly maintained his calmness. He descended to earth but he still felt like he was in the air. He proudly whistled and smiled, wanting to pull Chen Jinyao to his side and hug her. “Listen, listen carefully. Your son is very good and treats your daughter-in-law very good too. Don’t worry for no reason.”
Ah, his wifey knows how to sweet-talk!
Chen Jinyao was speechless.
Mother Yan laughed. “Stop acting so proud. Yaoyao, don’t always give in to him. Once you do, he’d act very arrogant.”
Aunt Zhao was still bustling in the kitchen. She wanted to wait for the guests to come before cooking some dishes.
There was still a while before dinner started.
Mother Yan pulled Chen Jinyao to the sofa. “I just pampered him too much. Now, he refuses to listen to anyone. Even after he got married, he still acts immature.”
Chen Jinyao actually didn’t stand on Yan Cheng’s side this time. She closed her eyes and thought about it momentarily before nodding. “That’s true.”
Hearing this, Yan Cheng knitted his brows. The smile on his face faded a bit, and he pursed his lips.
Tch.
“Compared to being mature, I think being responsible is more important.” After a while, he cleverly found a way out of the situation.
Then, he lifted his chin and asked the easily swayed Chen Jinyao, “Right?”
Chen Jinyao purposely became silent and revealed a questioning expression.
He knew that she was teasing him but he still clenched his teeth silently.
The light shone brightly in the living room and brightened the warm laughter.
Mother Yan could exclaim her thoughts in front of her son, but she didn’t know why she became hesitant when she was in front of her daughter-in-law. She felt somewhat embarrassed.
Especially seeing Chen Jinyao’s eyes. Mother Yan was influenced by TV shows and she felt like she was an evil mother-in-law.
She pursed her lips and gave Yan Cheng a look. Who knew that Yan Cheng would act like he didn’t see in order to get revenge on her. She really raised this brat for no reason.
Chen Jinyao saw through Mother Yan’s hesitation.
She smiled and held in her laughter. She was about to talk, wanting to tell Mother Yan about their plan. That way, she would feel comforted and didn’t need to feel conflicted. Who knew that before she could say anything, she was interrupted by her phone’s ringtone.
Chen Jinyao grabbed her phone from her bag, a bit shocked once she saw the caller.
At this time, Yan Cheng lazily looked up and carelessly asked, “Who is it?”
Chen Jinyao stood up and shook her phone. “My college classmate.”
