Chapter 50: Hey, who’s this? (3)
He just happened to bump into him, just happened to not be face to face, just happened to have a bit to drink, and just happened to get a little agitated. With how dark it was that night and since his friends were by his side, he just went for it.
Ah Tai just couldn’t keep it down. “He didn’t know it was me so he won’t come looking for trouble.”
After a moment of silence when Ah Tai grit his teeth and continued his explanations, Yan Cheng said to him, apathetic, “If you hit him, so be it then.”
“…” At that, Ah Tai was stunned.
Yan Cheng looked up and said nonchalantly, “Nobody’s gonna know if you don’t tell anyway.”
Those words implied that he tacitly approved of such behavior.
“I really do have to thank you for helping me beat that guy.” This young master had Zhou Chao to thank for his first jail sentence, so how could he let him off easy? “But don’t be so impulsive the next time you see it. He’s gonna get better after he’s healed and that’s not going to be effective.”
This time, it was Ah Tai’s turn to be surprised. “There’s a next time?”
“Not necessarily.” Yan Cheng tilted his head up.
“………”
Chen Jinyao brought dinner back to the apartment and rested for a while after eating before getting up for a shower. Since she’s going to be having fun at a bar, she figured she had to change up her style a bit. At the very least, there’s no need to be so conservative.
More than half of her wardrobe was filled with all sorts of clothes. She’ll definitely be able to find one suitable for the bar. She’s going to play after all, no need to be so uptight.
But Chen Jinyao couldn’t find anything that was even slightly rebellious.
In the end, she chose a dark green and white floral dress with a black leather jacket over it.
She had fair skin so it fit her well. Chen Jinyao checked herself out in the mirror and began to put on her makeup. Otherwise, how could she call it a whim? Unlike her usual light makeup, she went with eyeliner and fake lashes and also chose a more colorful lipstick, curling her hair…
More than an hour passed while she was getting dressed up.
When she was in a hurry to leave the house, she glanced at her phone, only to see that Yan Cheng had called her and left a message.
He only asked when she would be over.
Chen Jinyao bent over to change her shoes. She wore white flats today since she had to drive. After thinking about it, she brought out the pair of high heels from the shoe cabinet, brought a bag to store them, and shut the door. While waiting for the elevator, she called Yan Cheng back.
As soon as the call went through, she said, “I’m heading out now.”
“Mm.” Yan Cheng gave her a simple response to indicate that he understood. His voice was gentle and seemed to bring with it a hint of amusement too. “No need to hurry, tomorrow’s a weekend anyway.”
After two seconds of silence, Chen Jinyao refuted, “Tsk, I’m not hurrying.”
There wasn’t much else to say at this point.
Yan Cheng reminded her, “Drive carefully.”
“Yeah.” Chen Jinyao responded and hung up.
In the end, she was underdressed.
She was shivering once she went outside.
She could see mist coming out even while exhaling.
Traffic wasn’t too heavy at this hour in the capital. About twenty minutes later, Chen Jinyao arrived at the Er Pavilion, but the parking spots were already full when she reached there. She could only head out and find parking further away.
Yan Cheng must have counted the time.
He sent her a message, telling her to enter from the other entrance in the south when she arrived.
Opposite the north side, Chen Jinyao was halfway through a jog over. After seeing the contents of the message, she stopped and turned to another corner of the road. At that instant, her eyes seemed to have vaguely swept past Zhou Xue’s figure.
But when that figure passed her by, Chen Jinyao didn’t think too much about it.
When she was about to reach the south entrance, the streetlights were flickering, probably malfunctioning. Yan Cheng was waiting for her there, leaning against the wall with his hands in his pocket.
When he heard the noise, he looked up.
The instant their eyes met, surprised fluttered past Yan Cheng’s eyes.
He must never have expected her to dress like this and be all made up today.
Yan Cheng seemed to ponder for a few seconds. Then, tilting his head, he smirked and half-joked, “Hey, who’s this?”
