Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 148: Little Bully (3)

From a young age, Yan Cheng had been spoiled to high heavens.

His childhood nickname was “Little Bully”.

And from the term, “Bully”, it could mean in a sense that Yan Cheng had grown up particularly dominant since he was young.

And in fact, it was true.

Only after learning some sense when he grew up did he show some restraint.

There was a good saying for that.

Rivers and mountains may change, but not a person’s nature.

Even though Yan Cheng was able to restrain his emotions now and maintain a “dignified” look on the surface, as soon as he falls asleep, then his inner nature will be fully exposed in his unconscious state.

He would occasionally hog the bed, lying spread-eagled on the bed, and sometimes even the whole bed wasn’t enough for him, he would want to monopolize Chen Jinyao as well. Chen Jinyao was sensitive to the cold, so during the winters, she liked to keep warm in Yan Cheng’s arms. Yan Cheng would often tease her with this as well, but he wasn’t any better himself, because the one who won’t let go at the end of the day was Yan Cheng. He had long arms and legs so he would latch onto Chen Jinyao like a koala. During their many nights sleeping together, both his legs would be curled over Chen Jinyao’s legs, intimately entangling their legs together.

“…” Yan Cheng actually had some self-awareness about this matter.

Now, symptoms of Chen Jinyao’s pregnancy were becoming more and more obvious.

Her period had already stopped for more than ten days.

She suffered from drowsiness, weakness, morning sickness, as well as frequent urination.

Now, the nail has already been drilled into the coffin on what the ultrasound couldn’t confirm.

Chen Jinyao thought it was no big deal, so she didn’t say anything.

But on one night, Yan Cheng very self-consciously laid out a futon on the bedroom floor.

He specifically mopped the area next to the bed and only planned to place a tatami mat down and finish the job with some pillows and a blanket.

When she came out of the shower, Chen Jinyao saw him sitting cross-legged on the floor, head down on his phone, but she had no idea what he was looking at.

She was taken aback and blinked her eyes, asking, “What’re you doing?”

Without even lifting his head, Yan Cheng responded, “I was worried I’d kick you at night.”

“…” Chen Jinyao was speechless. “It’s not that serious.”

How many nights have they shared the bed now? Even though he was a slightly restless sleeper, he didn’t go as far as to kick her at night. At the very most, he would nudge her a little, but then he would slowly move over like homing vines and then wrap all around her.

But Yan Cheng still thought this should be done just in case.

Since she couldn’t move him, Chen Jinyao just shrugged in the end and didn’t say anything more, leaving him up to it.

She could bet that in less than a week, he would be begging her to let him back onto the bed.

“Honey, it’s not good for your body to sleep like this.” Chen Jinyao sat on the bed with one leg propped up. She glanced silently at Yan Cheng and quickly withdrew her gaze before he noticed. Then, very calmly as if nothing happened, she continued wiping her hair. “The floor is cold, it’ll get into your spine.”

This would be the last time she persuaded him, Chen Jinyao thought.

Before she wanted it to end, she heard Yan Cheng giving her an “oh” without much care.

“…” Chen Jinyao glanced at him from the corner of her eye, eyes twitching.

She thought he wouldn’t listen to her, or at least it would go in one ear and out another, so he gave her a perfunctory response to give her face.

It was only when she was about to sleep that she realized he heard her loud and clear.

Yan Cheng and re-planned his new sleeping spot.

The tatami mat that was originally placed on the floor was left untouched, but he went over to the next room to grab some thick and soft bedding and laid it down before laying another tatami mat on top.

Chen Jinyao, “…”

Sure, it’s fancy enough now.

Once the lights went off, the world was quiet.

They happily chatted a bit before bed, bringing a slight anticipation towards the future.

Time also slowly passed by.

As their chat was about to end, Yan Cheng suddenly sat, seemingly having realized something. “Why don’t I sleep on the bed and you sleep down here?”

He actually said such a heartless and un-boyfriend-like thing.

Chen Jinyao was instantly awake. “?????”

Meanwhile, Yan Cheng lightly coughed to cover the awkward atmosphere. When he spoke again, his tone was careful. “I’m worried you’ll turn over and fall off the bed while you’re sleeping.”

“……”
