Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 101: Boss, Take This (2)

“…” Chai Yue didn’t have the heart to look at Yan Cheng right now.

Chen Jinyao was too terrifying. She trained her flirtatious brother into a loyal dog.

Then, he thought about it before realizing that he wasn’t thinking correctly.

Chai Yue asked, “Does sister-in-law know about you investing?”

“Now right now.” Yan Cheng shook his head.

He planned on giving Chen Jinyao a surprise when he earned from his investment.

Of course, he prepared for the worst outcome as well. If he started off badly and lost money, he’d let himself suffer from this alone.

Chai Yue had no idea what Yan Cheng was thinking. He looked at this married man a bit complicated, pursing his lips before asking carefully, “Master Yan, so did the 2 million come from your secret stash of money?”

Hearing this, Yan Cheng froze completely, dumbstruck.

To speak the truth, Yan Cheng never thought of keeping a secret stash of money.

More precisely, he and Chen Jinyao handled their own finances. They were both financially independent, and didn’t interfere with each other in this aspect.

Tossing this to the side, they didn’t really split their finances through AA terms. How should he explain this? They did have a dilemma. They didn’t split everything, but it did feel like it. For example, he occasionally paid for food and essentials, but sometimes she would do that too. They didn’t bother to bicker over who paid the most…

“What secret stash of money?” Yan Cheng knitted his brows.

Chai Yue acted as if he had seen a ghost, feeling incredulous. After a while, he slowly processed what happened. Yan Cheng wasn’t joking. This result was unexpected. At the same time, he felt overwhelmed with feelings. “It seems like sister-in-law is truly in love with you. Even then, she hasn’t dumped you.”

The words were unpleasant to hear. Yan Cheng remained expressionless but he ground his teeth, asking in an unfriendly tone, “What do you mean?”

Chai Yue softly coughed and said properly, “When my sister was teaching my sister-in-law how to become a good husband, she casually took me over to listen to her lectures too. She said that women felt security in their marriage through the money and cards that their husbands give them. Right now, the divorce rate was quite high. Relationships that were bound by just a piece of paper could change rapidly as time passed by. It was uneasy to capture one’s heart. The only thing that one could hold tightly in their hands is just materialistic things.”

It seemed like Chai Yue’s sister had given Chai Yue a few classes. He was actually able to recite the things he learned.

“My sister said that when men hand in their cards to their wives, it means that they’re giving their backs to the other party. This means that they trust their wives.”

“Good men should be conscientious of this.”

Yan Cheng felt as if he was shot for not being conscientious.

As long as logic works, it made sense for him.

However, it depended on the perspective he stood on.

After all, different couples have different ideas.

Compared to these stupid reasons, finding the ‘suitable’ one was the most important.

Chai Yue laughed and said, “I thought you were going to hand in your card as well.”

“…” Yan Cheng narrowed his eyes and lazily leaned against the chair. He captured the key word in that long explanation and after a while, he lifted his brows to retort, “She’ll feel safe if I give her my card?”

“Yeah.” Chai Yue actually wasn’t too sure. His gaze flickered as he said, “After all, there’s a saying…”

Yan Cheng hummed in confusion.

Chai Yue closed his eyes and sighed, “Wealthy men aren’t reliable.”

Yan Cheng was speechless.

———————————————-

Chen Jinyao noticed that Yan Cheng was more eager than her about the class reunion.

But it seemed like his eagerness was for no reason.

They were just conveniently going to a class reunion.

Yan Cheng named the journey to the south as the “second honeymoon.” He made a detailed schedule and circled all of the tourist attractions near Shanghai.

“Why did you draw a red line on Mt Potala?” Chen Jinyao glanced over the table and tugged the corner of her lips. After seeing the highlights, she paused before looking at him as if in deep thought.
