Chapter 108 Leveling Up “Wind Blade” [2]
"Wind Blade!" He shouted the moment his eyes locked unto his target once more.
Suddenly, another blade made out of the wind shot towards the mana beast.
The 'dog' tried its best to dodge the blade, however its speed was too slow and the injury at its side made its speed even slower.
It could only watch as the attack landed on its shoulder, leaving another cut that seemed even deeper than the former.
Even more close gushed out of the wound as the steps of the dog became unsteady.
It let out a shrill cry like an animal on the verge of death and stared at the person who put it in this condition with hatred.
It suddenly ran forward in a bid to attack again, baring its fangs while barking angrily.
However, despite feeling the beast's rage and desperation, Harry simply smirked.
For some reason, he relished in its current situation.
He didn't know why but whenever he was going up against someone, either in a battle or anything at all and overwhelming them, there was always this weird sense of fulfilment that rose up inside him.
Seeing the look of defeat and hopelessness on the face of his opponent had always filled him with so much joy, if possible, he would extend that moment, just for the sake of watching his enemies suffer.
Maybe he just a villain who enjoyed watching others suffer, even he didn't really understand, and he had never given enough time to do so.
Suddenly, he jumped backwards, while launching another wind blade.
The blade cut through the beast's legs, slowing down its movement and making it harder for it to move.
However, Harry didn't stop there. He followed up that attack with numerous wind blades, hitting the mana beast in different places and leaving fatal wounds.
Unsurprisingly, the beast didn't survive the assault and finally died, but not before glaring at Harry with fear evident in its eyes and a tinge of hate.
In fact, it was a miracle that it managed to survive that long, the only thing that was driving it was it's anger and wish to devour Harry, but that could only take it so far.
Harry didn't notice this and was only focused on the notifications that flashed through his eyes.
[1 Bat-eyed dog killed!]
[+4000EXP]
["Wind Blade" Level up!]
[Skill "Wind Blade" now Level 2!]
"Yes…" He muttered while making a slight fist pump.
This was the reason why he had only used [Wind Blade] against the dog-type mana beast—to level up the skill.
Whenever one of his skills was close to leveling up, there was always this weird feeling he felt at the back of his mind when using that skill; like he had reached a bottleneck in that skill that he needed to breakthrough.
Since one of his goals for heading into the forest was to develop his skills, he definitely wouldn't let this chance pass.
Though he could have ended this fight a long time ago by aiming for the beast neck, he didn't as killing the beast too quickly wouldn't level up the skill.
It was why he only used wind blade while aiming for the non-lethal parts of the mana beast, slowly chipping its life away while also increasing his proficiency in [Wind blade].
"Wind blade." Harry muttered as he stretched his hand before activating the skill.
Immediately, a long thin blade shot out from the front of his palm.
[-30 Energy point]
Its size was slightly longer then before and the speed at which it flew in the air was faster than before.
Within seconds, the blade made purely out of wind collided with the thick bark of a tree in the distance, leaving a deep cut on it but still not managing to cut through it completely.
Seeing this, Harry couldn't help but smile in joy.
[Wind blade] had definitely gotten stronger, though not by much, but that power difference was still there.
He had expended a lot of energy in the fight against the beast, however, it was recovering very quickly.
He walked towards the dog-type mana beast body and couldn't help but sigh when he saw the state.
The body was riddled with a lot of cut, all from its head, down to even its feet. Some of its organs spilled out from the wound and a lot of blood kept coming out of the body.
Basically, the sight in front of him was nothing short of gore and horror.
A normal person would vomit or even faint at such a scene, however, for some reason, Harry didn't feel any disgust.
His mind remained calm as if he was staring at the most normal thing.
"I should have been more careful with my attacks… now I can't sell the body." Harry mumbled in slight regret.
He had been storing the bodies of the mana beasts he killed in his storage device because he wanted to sell them.
In the "hub" in front of the beast forest, there were lots of stalls and business and places to sell mana beast bodies were also among them.
The bodies and parts of mana beasts were definitely useful as they could be used to make useful materials such as, leather, clothes and even weapons.
From what he heard, beast core traders could also be found in the "hub" but they were very rare as something as valuable as a beast core couldn't be discussed freely.
Harry bent down in front of its body before pulling out his dual daggers. As for what he wanted to use them for, it was obviously to dig out the beast core.
Just as the tip of the blade pierced the head, a familiar voice suddenly sounded in his head.
[You know… "Manaless Mage's Pride", it isn't just a quest.]
"Huh?" Harry's brows creased in confusion.
He was quite surprised by the other voice's sudden words.
It was vague… as usual, and didn't seem to contain any relation to the current events; it just came out of the blue.
"What do you mean?" Harry asked.
