chapter 66 The Undercity ‐2
66 The Undercity ‐2
"Help!!!" A distance away from their patrol route, a member of the undercity guard screamed for help.
A robbery was taking place.
"No time, let's go" Carlson immediately sprang into action. In as much as he didn't want to engage in any battle, he couldn't just sit back and watch while the other city guards were being attacked.
They had to spring into action...
"Hold them down until the others are done." At a distant shop, a number of armed rebels could be seen holding up a shop and looting it of all its valuables.
They were well coordinated and professional. It didn't look like these guys were just random fighters. This was definitely something else.
"Water work: Spear tip revolver"
While the rebels were looting, a spear engulfed with illuminated water at its very tip barreled towards the leader, aiming to claim his life.
"Hm?" Noticing the spear, the leader of the rebels pulled out a metal staff and intercepted it in a spit second.
—Clang!!!!
The sound of the collision erupted out of nowhere, causing everyone to stop and turn.
"Hm, so fast?" The rebels' leader twisted his head at an unnatural angle. They had the response time of the guards at the watchtower already pinned down. How were these guys able to get here so fast?
"Shit, their reinforcements have arrived!!" One of the rebels shouted in alarm. Almost immediately, the other rebels began to panic.
"Don't lose focus, we can still hold them back." The leader of the group assured them. He could see the guards running over, and all of them were powerful for guard standards, but he didn't follow the same standards as them.
He was a level 2, and no amount of level 1 mages could defeat him.
"Yeah!! They are only six, plus we have the revered Young Prodigy on our side," one of the rebels bellowed, boosting their morale.
"Hmp!!!" The leader swung his staff downward, forcing Carlson to fly backwards.
—Boom
Carlson landed right beside Leon and the rest.
"Stop them, don't worry about the big guy, I'll take care of him myself." Carlson unmoved by the overpowering strength of his opponent, directed his men to stop the looters and other rebels. Meanwhile, he would face the level 2 fighter.
He was a peak level 1 mage, only himself and Arian could manage to face off against a level 2 mage. But he didn't want to place Arian in such a dangerous situation.
Unless he really needed her help, he wouldn't ask for it.
"Water work: sacred water stream" Carlson rolled his spear, forming a ball of water in front of him.
Carlson was from a pretty prestigious family. Even though he didn't show it, he had an arsenal of spells that would allow him to put an average level 2 mage to shame.
—wuuuu
He blasted the ball of water at the leader of the rebels with full force, causing him to immediately dodge, but Carlson didn't let up. He threw another ball of water at him.
At the same time, Leon and the rest engaged the looters and other rebels.
"Warlocks" and for Arian, she didn't engage in the battle. She stood at the very back with her eyes trained on a silhouette standing on a building not too far away.
This silhouette belonged to a level 3 Warlock.
In fact, every single person participating in this robbery was a warlock. Whatever this was, it was not a normal robbery.
(Can't make a move, you'll have to handle it yourself.)
Arian thought to herself while looking at Leon's figure. If she moved, the level 3 warlock would do the same. It wasn't that she was scared or anything, she just knew that escalating this into a full-blown battle with level 3 fighters would cause more harm than good.
"Shit!! This isn't working." Carlson, who had several items of his amour broken into by the leader of the rebels, jumped back.
The difference between a level 2 and level 1 mage was just too much to breach. It wasn't only a difference in energy usage. It was also a difference in physical prowess.
"I don't have a choice..... I'll have to use that." Carlson frowned. It didn't take long for him to see that this robbery was not ordinary, if he hadn't involved himself in the first place, then it would have been better.
But, now that he was already entangled…there was no way out, his family name was closely tied with the security of Duan city, if he failed, it would be a smear on their name.
However, before he could make a move…a bunch of wind arrows came flying out of nowhere, precisely targeting the leader of the rebels.

"Hm? " surprised, Carlson looked over at Leon and frowned. Leon had abandoned the looters to help him? He didn't know if the kid was brave or just brain-dead.
He was just at the beginning stages of level 1, What could he do against the level 2 warlock?
"Hmm!!" The warlock spat out before turning to look at Leon's figure in the distance.
Leon was surprisingly running towards him, daggers drawn.
This, was a very big mistake.
"Ant!!!" The Warlock screamed. He raised his staff up into the sky and.
"Steel Gorilla work: mountain breaker"
In that brief moment, the warlock's entire aura changed. It felt like he was the only existence in this space, and his staff was like a divine punishment.
—Bang!!!!
The attack landed and quickly the one with the upper hand was apparent, This was because, with one strike, the warlock achieved two feats
First, it snapped Leon's dagger, breaking it beyond repair. Second, it completely shattered Leon's wrist and flung him 30 meters into the air…
The difference between a level 1 and level 2 warlock was a bridge that was very difficult to cover.
"Die!!!" Watching Leon's body fly away, the warlock prepared another attack. But before he could materialize one.....
"Water work: mythic Lance"
Carlson appeared from out of nowhere and pierced in the direction of the warlock, causing him to jump back.
"You…" The warlock looked at his chest and noticed his amour had been pierced through. This amour was top-notch, and he had to go through a lot to get it, but this kid had thorn through it like it was nothing?
"What kind of spell was that?" The warlock muttered. This amour should be able to handle attacks from middle level 2 mages, so how could a peak level 1 mage tear through it?
"Puuuuuu"
Before he could get his answer, a whistle blew from the distance, alerting him that it was time to go. They had all they came here for.
—woosh n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
He jumped, landed on top of a building far away, and left with the level 3 warlock.
"Phew" When Carlson saw this, he heaved a sigh of relief. If that man had decided to stay, this might have ended badly.
"Hm?" When he turned to look at Leon, he noticed two things. The first was Leon's calm aura; even when faced with such a dangerous situation, Leon was surprisingly calm.
The second was a massive iron gate that seemed to be fading out of existence behind Leon.
It emitted a sort of energy that made Carlson feel a slight shiver.
