Chapter 37: Under The Heaven Devourer Mountain Range
Chapter 37: Under The Heaven Devourer Mountain Range
After leaving the forest area, the troops were led down the open path and after about 15 minutes of riding they reached one of the entrances of the heaven devourer mountain range.
"Signal them" the sliver death knight commanded casually and from behind him Dorian rode forward with the Tamlin flag and waved it.
After about 10 seconds, there was no response, but the sliver knight didn't seem bothered. He just began moving forward once again.
The waving was only a formality, the people guarding the entrance had received prior orders to let the Tamlin group and several others into the mountain range to search for the blood serpent clan.
The blood serpent clan's matriarch was a big target, not just because she was the leader of the clan. Apparently, she had cooperated with numerous other clans after their escape and done heavy damage to the hunters. Just like what the old Winged Devil did with the blue salamander clan.
"Follow" Dorian waved the flag again, signalling for the others to follow into the mountain range. And so they followed each other into the mountain range closely.
The terrain of the heaven devourer mountain range was quite complex, it was shaped in a zigzag manner. It looked like snakes had formed most of the paths, but they were educated enough to know that it was just natural formations.
Another thing to note about the mountain range was its barrenness, not even a single creature could be observed on its surface. And the reason for this was simply because all these creatures were underground.
"We'll enter from here" the silver knight soon came to an abrupt stop before a small cave tunnel.
The blood serpent clan was their target, but there hadn't been news of them for a while now. That meant there weren't on the surface, if not they would have been spotted.
They had definitely gone underground.
"Stay close" Arian said to Leon as they tied up their horses and went into the cave entrance by foot.
At the same time, several other members of Tamlin's Death squad slowly made their way into the underground tunnel systems under the heaven devourer mountain.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
"I will take point guard in case of any threats from the front, who would like to cover the rear ?"
Inside the underground cave, the Silver death knight could be seen giving orders to his subordinates on how they would defend themselves inside the cave tunnel.
The monsters of the heaven devourer mountain wouldn't typically stay in the mountain range during the day, so most times they were underground. As long as they were in the tunnels, fighting against monsters was inevitable.
"Sir Kilian, I suggest Arian Finlay take the rear, not only is she very talented, she also holds a pseudo level 3 spell" from the front Anan suggested.
They had been put in the same team as Leon and Arian because they wanted to cause trouble for them, and what better way than placing them at the rear?
The sliver death knight was taking the front and Arian was taking the back, both would see an equal level of danger, but could Arian be compared to the sliver death knight? She would probably die if a powerful monster appeared.
"Finlay? You're the daughter of the Shamed knight?" The silver death knight asked Arian with a raised eyebrow.
He knew the Shamed knight. He was a powerful knight in the royal capital, sadly, he was pushed to depression and later to insanity by schemes. This was one of the reasons he didn't like the idea of going to the cities. There was too much scheming going on there.
"Yes sire," Arian said with gritted teeth. Anan and Dorian were at it again.
"Hm, this is good. I hope you become as powerful as him one day so you can carry his name on. Dorian join her in guarding the rear." The sliver death knight kilian commended Arian before going forward to attack Dorian to the rear.
"Wait that's not right...." Dorian wanted to protest, but he was soon shot a glare that made him freeze.
There was a reason why people labelled the silver death knight number two in terms of ruthlessness in the Tamlin group. It was because he could hold a grudge to the grave over the smallest things.
"Hehe, as sire commands" Dorian smiled and gave a courtesy bow and proceeded to head to the rear with an attaché.
Dorian and Arian were the only two level 2 mages here. They naturally had to take some responsibility.
And so they proceeded to move through the cave tunnel. They didn't know whether it was still day or night in here, all they could do was persevere in the search for the blood serpent clan leaders.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Meanwhile, deeper underground in a cave tunnel that seemed to have been recently made.
"Why isn't it moving anymore? Don't tell me it went to sleep..."
"Can't be, we've been following it for a long time now, and it has never slept in such a cramped space."
"So what's going on?"
Several members of the blood serpent clan could be seen inspecting the massive snake that was previously leading them.
It had stopped moving abruptly and it raised concerns. Its behavior was strange and there was no way they could go back the way they came.
"Turn the carriages around" from atop the carriage at the very front of the line, a feminine voice resounded.
This voice belonged to Liana. The matriarch of the Blood Serpent Clan. Why was she asking them to turn around?
"Hm?" Before the others could fully understand what she meant, a sound resounded from in front of them.
—crackkkkkkkkk
From out of nowhere, the wall beside the lead carriage cracked open and a massive mouth appeared out of nowhere.
"Run!!!!" Immediately, panic ensued. The Serpent in front of them had taken a turned and burrowed through the soil to face them.
It was a disaster.
"BloodSerpent work: Blood manipulation"
As soon as the serpent's head emerged, Liana stood up and stretched her hand forward.
Soon her body became a bit pale as blood seemingly seeped from her pores and formed a long spear.
"Wuuu"
Before anyone could see it, she had launched her spear directly at the serpents head.
"Krrrrrrrr!!!!!"
The serpent screamed in excruciating pain as the blood spear pierced its right eye directly.
It tossed and turned in pain because this blood spear didn't only injure it, it seemed like it was poisoning its right eye, infecting the region and stopping it from healing. It burned like acid.
"Ride!!!" Liana commanded her men, meanwhile she proceeded to collapse into her seating position above the carriage.
She wasn't so weak to fall off, but she wasn't good either. The spell she had just used was dangerous for her already weakened self.
"Hissss" While she sat in this position, a red snake slithered out of her clothes and bite into her neck.
However, it didn't seem to be sucking blood or poisoning her. On the contrary, it seemed to be giving her blood!!!
