Chapter 11: He Knew All Along
Chapter 11: He Knew All Along
Meanwhile, inside the depths of devil wood forest, a tall, slim shadow could be seen dashing around the forest with exceptionally speed, even though it seemed to be carrying something on it back, it was steady and fast.
"Woosh, whoosh"
With subtle movements, this shadow was able to dodge trees and jump over obstacles, its movements resembled that of renowned assassins, it would be hard to accept that just a few days ago this person was a paralyzed cripple.
That's right, this shadow was Leon's.
After finding out about the attack with the help of the system, Leon prepared to leave. He investigated the weak points of the world traversing serpent, so he knew where was safest. He got a weapon for surviving in the wild and most of all, he created a situation where guards would appear to distract the hunters.
By using the healing spell which he knew was very rare in front of Caroline and phoebe, he created greed in their hearts. Greed that would push them to use their trump card, Byand and his backer. It was a massive gamble, but it worked.
"There"
Leon sighted a massive rocky formation in the middle of the woods, this was his destination. He had chosen several locations from on top a hill in the grassland and depending on where they got attacked, Leon chose where was best to hide.
"Splash"
Leon slowed down and stepped in a puddle of water in front of the rocky formation. There was a small opening to the side.
"It's better than nothing"
Leon moved quickly and squeezed himself through the cracks with the old man still on his back. And a few seconds later, he was inside a small hallow area in the rocky formation.
"Right here,"
Leon placed the old man on the ground slowly and proceeded to pick up a handful of soil from the ground.
"Splat!!"
The began painting the old man's body and face in hopes of hiding his scent. However, his actions also happened to wake the old man up.
"What??!!"
The old man took a few steps back and scoured his surroundings, he was still trying to make sense of what happened to the carriage. It was just too sudden....
"Calm down, old man, you're out of danger." Leon stretched his hand forward and calmed him down. Upon hearing that, the old man indeed calmed down, though the next words that came out of his mouth agitated him once again.
"Where are phoebe and Caroline?"
The old man looked around, he remembered the wreckage and how their cabin fell into the woods. Naturally, he understood that they were in danger, but Leon saved him and only him?
"They are back there, I couldn't help"
Shaking his head, Leon explained. Forget the fact that he didn't care to go through that much trouble, he couldn't do it even if he wanted to.....
"No, you have to save them please, I understand your feelings towards them are sour, but they are still family." The old man started pleading for Leon to go back and save them. However, Leon could only stare at him with a nonchalant gaze.
"How long have you known?"
Suddenly, Leon spoke. His words, although vague, sent a chill down the old man's spine. It was just a question, but it startled the man. This was simply because even though his words wouldn't mean anything to an outsider, it meant something to him.
"I.... Since you began speaking...."
The old man responded with a bit of shame and sadness. He knew all along that this person standing before him was not his son Leon, from the very first moment he looked into those boundless eyes he knew this, but he was in denial.
"But, that doesn't change anything, My blood still runs through your veins" The old man hurriedly spoke, trying to appease Leon.
"you're a very perceptive father. This is good. However, you're mistaken if you think I feel the need to belong to your broken family..... I have lived in the void for thousands of years. I've endured the kind of loneliness you could only imagine. The only reason I saved you is that you did the same for me, but now that debt has been paid...."
Of course, this wasn't the only reason. He was once a family man, so in a way he understood the plight of the old man. But seeing what the man had gone through made him realize why the family life wasn't for him. He only stayed to watch out of impulse.
"Please save them,"
The old man knelt down and kowtowed to Leon, even if it meant that he would lose his soul to this demon that had possessed his son, he would do it. Even though they were unfair to him, they were his family, and he wanted to save them.
"You are not qualified to make a deal with me, old man, you have nothing i want. Just try to survive.....or dont its your decision "
Him staying all the while with the old man was a type of heart tempering.
(There's only one badur I guess)
Leon thought to himself, then he stood up and slowly walked out. Not surprisingly, the old man stayed in the cave and didn't follow. He was all talk, he couldn't go out to save his family but wanted Leon to do it. He was a hypocrite.
"Hm?"
Immediately after, his foot touched the ground. Leon felt a gaze fall on him from inside the forest. There, a young man with pitch-black hair looked on at him with predatory eyes.
Leon was his prey.

Back at the site of the crash
"What do you mean by he went into the forest?!!"
The blonde lady hunter held on to one of the hunter's clothes threateningly. She had been left alone to fight against an elder of the blood serpent clan by herself. She was injured and poisoned.
However, this wasn't what bothered her right now. Apparently, her boss's son had decided to chase after the Warlocks that managed to escape into the forest with no backup. She couldn't imagine what would happen if he got hurt.
"You had better get started looking for him, after all you are his personal guard....."
The bulky man in heavy amour stepped forward and said to the blonde. He was basically unscathed, the fight was easy for him.
"Hmp!!" The blonde sneered and jumped into the forest. Even with her injuries and the venom from snake bites. She had to find that crazy son of a b*tch
