Chapter 336 336 - Otherworldly Organizations
"No, not really... It's just," the man took another pause and a deep breath before completing. "This bank account is not from this planet."
Noah stared at him, doubt plastered across his normally expressionless face, making the fat man sweat.
"What kind of joking are you pulling, let me see this," the fat man angrily stood up, taking large strides towards the other bank employee.
"It's not a joke, look!" Noah watched, as the fat man pushed the man aside, and stared at the screen, before going ghostly pale.
"I... This... Excuse me Elder Stern," he stuttered and apologized, as he sat back down in silence, and took a full minute to recompose himself.
Meanwhile, Lilith and Noah had an internal conversation about the topic.
'What do you think he means with that?' Lilith asked, her tongue hissing in anticipation.
'Do you really think I have a single clue on that? The only option, considering he already mentioned Marcel and Michael, is that odd woman who introduced herself as the Head of the XXXX Family. But to think she has ties with another world is just...'
'So she's an alien?' Lilith teased him, while she was still in serious thought.
'Is it alien? No idea. Either way, or she isn't from this planet, or she has ties to somewhere behond this world, which is already pretty strange on itself,' he was immersed in thought, imagining why she would disclose this by giving him the token, also.
"So, about this particular token..." the fat man began talking, pulling Noah's attention back. "While the value is guaranteed and we can retrieve it for you, one, the amount in here is just large... Second, I'm not sure whether you would like to get yourself involved with this kind of thing..." the caution behind the man's words threw Noah off guard.
'So there is something about taking this money, huh...' he thought, staring at the man without making any expression.
"If we retrieve this money, your information and identity will be immediately relayed to the bank who issued this currency... Problem is, this is a token from the Venusian Federation Unification Bank."
Noah's mind swam as he tried to remember where he heard this name, but his memory was not helping him.
"While they are a commercial federation, they are also known to gather the strongest blessed in the Original System... Because the planets under them all have extremely high tiered Fortresses, they also have a lot of money. I'm not going to complain if you take the money into your institution, but you should know that, whoever gave you this, wants them to know you exist," the fat man was nervous, as if he had already deal with something like this before, but Noah and Lilith saw the bright picture.
'Does this mean you could get scouted by a group that could give us more support?' Lilith asked, as she saw a faint smile on Noah's face.
'And also new people we can get Fragments of Divinity from if they turn into enemies. All I need is to be prepared,' Noah told her, already numbed by meeting an angel of God the other day. "Thank you so much for your worry and all the information you shared. I will think very deeply about the consequences of this, but I feel the person in question bears no ill will towards me. For that, I will withdraw those funds," he told the man while putting his hands together, before lowering over the snake's head.
"I—in that case, allow me to proceed," the younger bank officer stuttered, as he and the fat man stared at each other nervously. Noah however, didn't really care, his information was almost pointless anyways.
"So, how much money was that?" Noah asked, since nobody had told him that yet.
"35 million," the fat man said, nervously rubbing his fingers against each other, thinking about how much of a hassle he would have with the letters.
"Holy... I didn't expect her to give me that much... not at all," Noah muttered without thinking, surprised by the money.
"Her?!" the young man exclaimed, having heard Noah's daydreaming.
Immediately, thought, a loud hissing and the sound of the fat man slapping his shoulder brought both him and Noah back to reality.
"I'm so sorry for his lack of manners. I assure you it won't happen again, our bank does not meddle with out blessed's personal matters," he said while forcing the man to bow his head down, bright red.
"It's fine. It was my fault for speaking too much," Noah said, standing up, since the chair had finished the massage program. "How much is my balance?" he asked, looking down at the two man, who had not yet stood, Lilith coiled up his waist and up his shoulder, staring at them just like him.
"Um... I would need to verify, but from these transfers, plus the money from the betting agency, you are looking at upwards of a 175 million. The exact ammound would require me validating your data again and using the access point there," the fat man said, slowly standing up.
"No need, I'll verify the precise amount myself later, aswell as the promissed credit line. I look forward to working with you in the future," Noah extended his hand, which the fat man quickly shook, before walking out the door."
"See what you did, dumbass! Don't ask that kind of thing!" Noah went away listening to the voice of the fat man chastizing the other manager for asking him about the woman. Noah was happy he had finished all his chores, and could finally go back to Carlos' place, give his sister the Essence.
'So, are we done here?' Lilith asked him, as he called the elevator, not waiting for the two man who brought them up.
'Yes. I won't leave the pearls with them yet, I don;t trust these guys... Noah said, feeling the two Divine Pearls in his pocket. 'Good thing that, because of his blunder, that fat one didn't even notice I didn't give it to them."
'Why are you so wary of him? I don't understand. He didn't look to have any ulterior motives or anything when it comes to your money or belonings,' Lilith asked, curious.
'I met him before. He's the kind of person who values his image more than anything. He's probably already finding a way to capitalize on me being his client, and those two on his hand would be a great tool to rise in a place like this,' Noah said with certainty, walking into the elevator.
'You know... I don't remember when you became so wary of everyone,' Lilith said, remembering Noah's usual nonchalantness.
"I always was. It's just that, before, I had little to lose if not for my sister," he muttered out loud, making Lilith tilt her head as to why he stopped using their normal telepathy. 'Either way, let's get going.'
Noah walked across the lobby, all eyes on him as he walked out of the elevator alone. The two bank employees who had welcomed him earlier were in the same spots as before, and saw him pass by with rigid smiles on their faces. "Goodbye, Elder Stern. I hope to see you again in the future," the woman said as he passed her, headed towards the street.
"You will. See you again," he said and nodded, turning back to her before walking out the door, and leaving her befuddled.
'You are trying to seduce other women now?' Lilith asked, as she saw the woman's flushed appearance.
'No fucking way. I was just being educated,' Noah refuted her, not even stopping to check behind.
The way home was eventless, and nobody had tried to meddle with the car while they were away. They couldn't avoid the curious eyes thought, as he hopped into the expensive car.
"By the way, Lilith, I want your help choosing a gift later," he said, about half way home.
"For your sister?" Lilith asked, caught off guard.
"Her too, but I'm thinking of giving something to a couple of people who helped me in the group," Noah clarified, leaving Lilith with a sour taste in her mouth.
'And for that woman too...' she thought, taking care to not relay it to him.
"NOAH!" As soon as the two arrived home, jumped on him, giving him her usual hug. "When I woke up you guys had already left! Where's my gift?!" The girl asked, seeing Noah carry a relatively large bag on his shoulder.
"Let me go and I'll show you," he said, a broad smile on his face as he saw his skipping sister wait for him with anxiety.
"Oh... That sounds interesting," Carlos said in the back, leaning closer as he saw Noah drop the bag onto the table and sit on the couch.
"This is the reason I joined that Arena thing. This is also your gift, Maggie," he said, opening the bag to show all the Essence.
"Oh wow! It's beautiful," Maggie said, seeing all that high rank Essence in one place, stored in their transparent vials.
"Holy crap! I had never seen so much of this stuff in one place, not even in a treasury," Carlos watched wide eyed, as he saw Noah put his hand in and grab some, before throwing about five essence at him.
"The bulk is hers, but I can spare a few for you. You'll see how amazing this stuff is," Noah said, smiling at his friend who looked thirsty for the boost in power and strenght.
"Brother, thank you for thinking about me so much... The fights were so hard, and to think you went through all of that just to get this for me," Maggie hugged him again, as Noah patted her head. "I think we should all have a toast!" she said, signing Bel who was watching from afar to come closer.
