Chapter 668 - 668 He was Going to Have a Meltdown
668 He was Going to Have a Meltdown
The silence did not last for too long. Once the kids had looked at Bai Xi Xi long enough, the child in Fu Chen’s arms began to cry again.
Fu Chen became helpless.
There was a crying baby in his arms. He still needed to cook some meals for the kids to eat. And then, the class monitor was visiting his house.
Fu Chen did not know which one should he look at first.
Including the toddler in his arms, there were a total of five kids around the house.
The crying became louder and the kids were quarreling. The broth on the stove continued to boil.
At this time, Fu Chen felt as if he was going to have a meltdown.
“I’ll help you,” Bai Xi Xi finally spoke after watching the scene for a while. She walked over to Fu Chen and stared at him.
“W-what?” Fu Chen was shocked when Bai Xi Xi suddenly approached him.
.....
Bai Xi Xi pointed at the stove behind him. “I’ll help you with cooking. You go and look after the kids.”
Anyway, Bai Xi Xi did not know the kids well and knew that they would be more comfortable with Fu Chen. It would be better if she help him to cook instead.
Seeing that Fu Chen continued to stand in front of the stove made her frown. “Step aside.”
It was then that Fu Chen finally stepped away to make room for Bai Xi Xi. He watched as his class monitor took the wooden spoon and started to stir the broth on the stove.
Fu Chen finally snapped out of his trance and spoke, “Class Monitor, you don’t have to do this.”
Bai Xi Xi merely gave him a glance. “What are you making?”
“Ah?” Fu Chen was a little puzzled by her question. Seeing her eying the broth again, Fu Chen finally answered, “I’m planning to make some noodles. This was supposed to be the broth.”
Her eyes lit up.
Noodles were her favorite. Because of this, Bai Xi Xi had learned how to cook them from her brother and later, she became quite good at it.
Bai Xi Xi peeked into the broth and smelled it. Then, she decided that the broth was going to need a few aromatic vegetables to make it taste a little better.
Her gaze fell on a few ingredients on the kitchen counter.
Bai Xi Xi was about to walk over to the side when she noticed that Fu Chen was still standing behind her. “What are you doing? Go and settle the kids first. I will help you cook. In a while, we can have a proper talk.”
“Oh.” Fu Chen looked at the kids who were standing beside him. Everyone’s attention was on Bai Xi Xi. It seemed that they were curious to see their brother’s friends standing in the kitchen to cook.
Wasn’t she supposed to be a guest? How can a guest cook in their kitchen?
The kids could not stay too long in the kitchen to watch as the guest cooked in the kitchen. The toddler in Fu Chen’s arms began to cry again and he had to go out and coax the baby.
However, before Fu Chen left the kitchen, he did not forget to let Fu Ying stay in the kitchen and look after Bai Xi Xi.
Fu Ying watched as Bai Xi Xi cut a few celery and tossed it into the pot. Then, she walked over and spoke, “Pretty Sister, is there anything that I can do to help?”
Bai Xi Xi turned and saw that it was the little girl from earlier. She pondered for a while and asked, “Do you have some spices in the kitchen?”
Fu Ying walked over to the kitchen cabinet and pulled out a drawer. “I’m not sure which one you need. But Pretty Sister, you can take a look in here.”
Bai Xi Xi smiled. “Thank you.” She peeked into the drawer and pulled out a few spices. Then, she put them into a clean pan to toast the spices. Once it was done, she tossed them into the broth.
Her lips pursed into a thin line. She waited for a while and decided to taste the broth first before adding in some seasonings.
Seeing that Fu Ying was staring at her, Bai Xi Xi decided to let her taste the broth. “Tell me if this taste alright. Is there anything else that I should add?”
The little girl looked at the broth in hesitant. She took a sip and her eyes lit up. “Pretty Sister, it’s delicious. It’s much better than my brother’s.”
Bai Xi Xi smiled. Being praised by the little girl made her feel very good. She turned down the heat and let the broth continue to simmer.
Then, Bai Xi Xi looked around and finally found a few packets of noodles for her to use.
Next, she planned to work on the condiments.
Bai Xi Xi turned to Fu Ying again and asked, “What sort of toppings do you usually add to your noodles?”
“My brother usually adds some meat, vegetables, and spring onions,” Fu Ying said. “But Pretty Sister, I don’t like spring onion that much.” Her brow furrowed as she thought of the taste.
Bai Xi Xi laughed. “Un. I understand.” She began to work on the noodles again before glancing at the little girl. “You...”
“Pretty Sister, my name is Fu Ying. You can call me Ying Ying like everyone else.”
Her lips curled into a faint smile. “Then, Ying Ying, why are you at home? Aren’t you supposed to be at school?”
Fu Ying looked around the same age as Bai Cai. Bai Xi Xi thought that the little girl and the other kids should be at school. But looking at the clothes on Fu Ying’s body, Bai Xi Xi guessed that she and a few other kids did not attend school today.
The little girl lowered her gaze. “Well, it’s because there is no one to send us to school for these past few days.”
Her brow rose. A lot of questions came to her mind, but she wondered if it would be appropriate for her to ask Fu Ying. Her brother would not think of her as a busybody, right?
