Chapter 276 - 276 The Real Liu Siyu
276 The Real Liu Siyu
Liu Siyan did not answer. Instead, he asked, “What is your relationship with Xiaoyu?”
Ji Lingchen looked out of the window and said indifferently, “I’m her older brother.”
Liu Siyan’s thoughts were pulled back to that day 15 years ago. A child was crying and hugging his leg. No one was allowed to touch her, except for him. “Brother, carry me. I’m scared!”
“How did you know?”
How could Ji Lingchen be so sure when he had been watching his sister so closely?
“Xiaonuan secretly took Xiaoyu and Xiaowen’s hair and submitted them for a DNA test without my knowledge. They are related, so Liu Siyu is my biological sister, Ji Xiaoyu. There’s a scar on her left arm because she bit herself. She wanted to give herself a scar because she was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to find her.”
Everything Ji Lingchen matched up with what happened to his sister. It turned out that he had already confirmed his sister’s identity, but he was in no hurry to tell the truth earlier today. At this point, Liu Siyan had no need to hide it anymore. He had always been afraid that his sister would be taken away, but in the end, he had not been able to stop this. He wanted to take his sister to have the scar removed, but his sister subconsciously resisted. It was as if her subconscious was telling her that it should not be removed. She must have been waiting for her brother to find her.
Liu Siyan said slowly, “My biological sister passed away 15 years ago.”
It turned out that the real Liu Siyu had suddenly suffered from brain cancer 15 years ago. In the end, she passed away. At that time, their family was away. Liu Siyu could not walk steadily and almost fell several times. Mr. Liu carried his daughter as they walked, but even when they got home, Liu Siyu would not stop crying and complaining. Her parents took her to a small clinic nearby which prescribed her some medicine. After taking it, she went home and fell asleep. However, she could not be woken up the next day. Mrs. Liu felt that something was wrong with her daughter and immediately drove her to the hospital in the city. After the results of the examination came out, the doctor hurriedly told the couple to go through the hospitalization procedures and that the child needed to be operated on immediately.
Mr. Liu and his wife were both scared out of their wits. Liu Siyan also looked at her sister, who was lying on the bed, feeling numb. There were always scenes in television series and movies where people’s lives were on the line but they were saved. However, real life was cruel. His sister did not receive a miracle. In the end, her life ended when she was five and a half years old.
Liu Siyan would never forget how his sister looked when she took her last breath. His mother cried so hard that she fainted. His father could not stand. He crumpled on the ground and cried. Liu Siyan leaned against the wall and looked at his sister’s face as the white cloth descended over it. She looked like she was asleep, and her body was still warm. He hoped that a miracle would happen, that his sister would suddenly wake up and run to him, call for him coquettishly, and clamor for him to carry her. However, no such miracle happened.
Liu Siyu was gone, and Mrs. Liu was half dead. She began to sleepwalk and talk nonsense, and she slowly lost her grip on reality. The doctor said that if the child arrived at the hospital earlier, they might have been able to save her. However, she had spent the night at home and it was too late.
Mrs. Liu blamed herself. She regretted taking her daughter to a small clinic for medicine. Then, she walked to the beach in a daze.
“My mom had a complete mental breakdown. She went to the beach and just kept walking, straight into the sea. She regarded Xiaoyu as more important than her own life. She could not accept Xiaoyu’s death at all. It was also that day that the girl appeared.”
Half of Mrs. Liu’s body was already submerged, and her husband had just found her. He hurriedly rescued her, but Mrs. Liu had lost her will to live and was very lethargic.
Then, Liu Siyan found a little girl by the sea. She looked about the same age as his younger sister, and her face was pale and bloodless. She looked like she was sick.
“Mom, Dad, there’s a kid over there!”
Mr. Liu saw Ji Xiaoyu lying on the beach. He left his wife in his son’s care and went to see if the child was still alive.
The little girl’s body was cold, and the wound on her arm was swollen from being soaked in seawater. No one knew how long she had been lying there. Mr. Liu checked her breathing and found that it was very weak. This child was very strong.
“They had just lost a daughter. Then, they found another child of the same age. My mother firmly believed that she was my sister. Coincidentally, the child also said that her name was Xiaoyu. My mother went crazy and insisted that my sister’s soul was living in this child.”
“We sent her to the hospital. While she was recuperating, my parents were holding a funeral for my sister. After everything was over, she was discharged. She was young and could not express herself clearly. She might have lost part of her memory. She only knew that her name was Xiaoyu and that her brother would come to find her. We didn’t know what happened to her. We went to the police station to ask around, but the police weren’t notified that a child went missing.”
“In the end, my dad wanted to send her to an orphanage. His daughter had just died, and his wife was on the verge of a mental breakdown. He didn’t have the capacity to take care of this child.”
