Chapter 145 Beyond Expectations
A few moments after Raven successfully put his Relic on auction.
[New Legendary Grade Relic on auction!]
"Huh? A Legendary Grade Relic? Let's check it out."
Sitting inside a dark room, a young man holding a small plate in his hands leaned a little forward and clicked on the notification that has just appeared on his screen.
"Let's see... Belongs to Anony...Mouse? What a shitty alias name even is that?"
The young man laughed with mockery and shook his head helplessly.
"Ghost Trident. A Legendary Grade weapon with a Complete Form that grants its wielder 3 active effects? Just who in their right mind puts such a great item on auction? Oh, it seems they have also uploaded a picture."
The young man clicked on the small icon to get a better look at the picture and sure enough, he whistled softly with surprise.
"Now that is a badass-looking trident for sure. Though, why do I feel I have seen it somewhere before?"
A frown appeared on the young man's face before he just shrugged and decided to take a sip from to bottle on his side while scrolling down.
However, it was then that he regretted drinking as the very second he sipped from the cup he spat everything out and even almost choked accidentally!
"T-The hell!? Ten million Novas is this shit's starting price? Did they go insane or what?"
Not even caring to wipe his mouth clean, the young man scrolled even more down and read the description.
'Description: This Relic once belonged to the Rotrid, Paloma. (Hope you all have not wasted those flasks, L.)'
"What the actual crap does that last part even mean? A message to someone?" the young man frowned before he shook his head and laughed coldly, "No, instead, the hell do they mean it once belonged to the Rotrid?"
Then, as if realization dawned on him the young man scowled and quickly glanced at the name mentioned within the description and Relic's picture.
"Rotrid... Paloma... Ghost Trident..." the young man began to mumble and soon his eyes widened.
"Impossible..."
And as if to see whether his doubts were right or wrong, he went and searched for a very old video on the internet, which he easily find in less than 2 minutes!
"This... You must be shitting with me..." the young man exclaimed out loud as he compared the Ghost Trident's image both on the paused video and on the online auction house.
And sure enough, after several minutes of intense starting later, the young man slowly fell back into his chair, his face at moment holding utter disbelief.
"This Relic... Is the real shit? But how is that even possible? And why only just now?"
Then, suddenly the young man seemed to realize something and uncontrollably all hair on his arms stood straight!
"L... Luck... Is he back? Is he really alive?"
Such a question arose in the mind of not only the young man but everyone else who saw the Relic. However, while many were pondering whether the legendary hero who saved humanity was truly alive or not, a few after seeing the last part of the description didn't question it at all.
"He is back..." inside his villa, Canwin stared at the screen before him with a serious face and hummed quietly.
"That bastard... so he is alive." lying on a comfy bed with two almost completely naked men beside her and a glass of wine in her hand, Cassie, the charming woman with a seductive body stared at the large projection before her with an amused smile.
"I wonder how strong you have become after all these years, Luck." Roven, wearing nothing but a bathrobe at the very top of a skyscraper mumbled with a cocky smile on his face, his eyes staring into the distance with such intensity that it was as if he wished to pierce right through space and find someone.
As for Min Chen and Felix, the two who clearly understood the hidden message written within the description, the former had already begun to contact others to search for Luck while the latter just smiled with amusement before turning off his laptop.
On the other hand, President Bai, who also got the news contacted Goran, the chairman of the Star Treasury, and ordered him to do whatever means was necessary to find Luck.
As for Luck himself, the one who caused all this mess currently lay on his bed with his phone held above his widely grinning face.
'Hehe...'
[Current Bid: 43,700,000 Novas]
It hasn't even been 3 hours since he put the Ghost Trident on auction and yet it has already increased to such heights.
'At this rate, I will become filthy rich! Haha!'
Laughing silently as he turned his phone off, Raven closed his eyes and with a big smile on his face, he went to sleep.
Without any shadow of a doubt, that night Raven slept so heavenly that the following morning he woke up as if he had been just reborn; refreshed and full of energy.
"Good morning everyone."
Literally hopping inside the dining hall with a big smile, Raven walked before the table and sat down. However, his joy didn't last very long as soon he had to realize that both Luna, Old Dan, and Thomas stared at him with complicated expressions.
"What?"
Raven frowned, but instead of getting an answer from either of them Luna just placed her phone on the table and pushed it before him.
[Current Bid: 245,800,000 Novas]
"PFFFTT!!!"
Spitting out the milk he was just drinking, Raven almost fell out of his chair and had to force himself to regain his balance when he saw the 9-digit number on the phone.
"T-Two hundred?!? What?"
Luna, who has now covered in milk thanks to Raven grabbed a small piece of clothing from her side and wiped her face slowly while explaining;
"It seems people seem to believe that you... or to be precise, Luck has come back from the dead. There are even hundreds of blogs and news about you all over the internet."
Luna then showed several articles and stream channels to Raven that talked about his alias and the currently auctioned Relic.
"Oh..." Raven gasped softly, however, from the way how the corner of his lips trembled it was obvious he could hardly suppress a smile.
After all, it was over 200 million Novas they were talking about! That was an insane amount!
Although he expected to earn a lot, this was way beyond what he has expected!
Luna sighed and said, "Even though there are people who are still doubtful, the majority of those who saw the Relic are almost 100% confident the legendary Luck is back."
"Especially the five Realm Families." Old Dan added before calmly continuing, "In fact, they are the very reason why the current bid has exceeded 200 million Novas. They seem to do whatever it costs to get the chance to meet with you in person."
"Meet with me?" Raven frowned before showing a mocking smile, "Why would they think they will have the chance to meet me even if they win the auction? Exactly for that reason why I have put that Relic up with an anonymous profile."
"Yeah, but in the face of the five Realm Families that means nothing. They can just make deal with the higher-ups of the Star Treasury to get information about you and your location or just simply hack the system and track you down. Though, as the latter one costs too much, both time and money they will definitely try the first option."
"And do you really think the Star Treasury will break their own rules just for a deal?" Raven asked with a frown.
"To be completely honest, yes, they will, and exactly because of two reasons." Thomas from the side joined the conversation and after a small pause, he said, "The first one is money and influence. While it is true the Star Treasury don't lack either of those two, they are still far from the level the Realm Families are currently on."
"As for the second reason is about fear. No one, not even the Star Treasury dares to risk getting into a conflict with any of the Realm Families, especially now that the fourth round of the Worlds' Clash is on the corner."
"So I have destroyed my laptop and thrown it off a cliff for no reason, huh?' Raven mumbled with a deep scowl.
"You have done what?!" Old Dan asked with wide eyes, knowing way too well just how much that laptop has cost.
"Um... It's nothing." Raven laughed nervously before he asked, "Then what should I do now?"
Old Dan, Thomas, and Luna fell into silence for several minutes when they heard Raven's, and a few seconds later the latter raised her head.
"If we can't avoid the unavoidable then... Why don't we just take advantage of this?"
Upon hearing the suggestion, Raven raised a brow, wondering what his little sister meant by those words.
