Lord of the Karmic Fate

Chapter 107 Luna; Silver Death (4)

The small soccer ball bounced on the floor a few times before coming to a complete stop while Raven, with a bleeding nose, lay on the ground with a dazed expression.

As for both Old Dan and Thomas, they just stared back and forth between Raven, the ball, and the shattered window on the side with stupified faces.

"Y-Young Master! Are you okay?" being the first one to snap out of his daze, Thomas ran beside Raven and helped him up.

"Yeah, I am fine. Thank you for the concern." holding his nose Raven showed a wry smile before he shifted his gaze at the fragments of shattered glass on the floor.

'Interesting... So I can raise my Luck Energy even this way?' Raven thought, seemingly figuring out a way to increase his Luck Energy faster than originally!

'So if I use my Luck Manipulation to increase the bad luck for others, which will also affect myself thanks to my insanely cursed luck, I can increase my Luck Energy.'

However, that didn't mean he could increase his Luck Energy everywhere. After all, as he had said, for his Luck Energy to be increased he needs to use his Luck Manipulation, which also needed Luck Energy. Thus, it was very important to use his powers on things that had a high chance to happen that can be triggered with a minimal amount of Luck Energy!

"So that was the power you have just talked about. The ability to manipulate chances?" picking up the ball from the floor, Old Dan looked at Raven with a questioning look.

"While it is true that I can increase the chances of given things happening, their impacts will result in either bad luck or a good look in the eyes of others," Raven explained calmly and pointed at the ball in Old Dan's hand.

"For instance, if I would have not told you what my ability was and what it could do, yet the same thing would have still happened, you would have been thinking just how bad your luck was."

"So that is why it is better to say that what I truly manipulate is not chances of things happening but instead the luck of others in either a good way or bad way."

Old Dan remained silent and after pondering he nodded, seemingly only now understanding Raven's power.

"Anyways, as it is because of me that all of this happened, I will definitely pa-" Raven began to speak, however, he was quickly silenced by Old Dan.

"Just forget about it. Thomas will take care of it."

"But..."

"I said just forget about it." Old Dan said and after handing Thomas the ball and asking him to take care of everything, he said, "Instead, let's continue our conversation in my office, shall we?"

"...Okay." knowing why his father said such things Raven nodded and followed after him while Thomas remained behind to clean up the mess and hand the ball back to the kids.

Once inside the office, Old Dan looked at Raven and after pondering silently he said, "You have said after your seal had been broken, you saw a memory."

"Yes, I did." Raven nodded and told his father everything which further deepened Old Dan's shock.

Of course, Raven missed out on the part on purpose where those two individuals mentioned how their blood flowed through his veins or that the newborn was him. In fact, he didn't even mention the newborn for specific reasons.

And once he finished talking Raven asked, "Dad, I have a question."

"H-Huh? Sure, go ahead."

"It's about mum. How did the two of you meet?"

Upon hearing this, Old Dan scowled deeply but still decided to reply with a nonchalant face, "That, I have already told you before. She and I met in a restaurant not shortly after I found you. Perhaps by fate."

'Figured.' Raven sighed inwardly before he sighed and asked, "And have you ever thought about that perhaps the encounter of the two of you was... by coincidence not by fate?"

The frown only deepened on Old Dan's face and said, "I don't get where you are trying to go with all this."

Raven sighed again and with a grave face he said, "That third individual was... mother."

"WHAT!?" jumping up from his seat Old Dan stared at Raven with both concussions, his eyes trembling visibly.

'So he really knew nothing, huh?' Raven instantly concluded before confusion flashed in his eyes.

'However, if that is the truth it just makes things even more complicated. While I can understand her getting engaged with dad to protect me, why did she give birth to a child? Did she, a goddess, really fall in love with a mortal, or is this also just a "coincidence"?'

And again, more and more questions appeared in Raven's head without either of them getting any answer.

While Raven pondered silently Old Dan seemed to calm down and sit back down. However, from the way he held his chin, Raven knew he was in deep thought.

"... Anyways, that is everything I have seen and gone through." Raven then said before asking, "Now it is your turn to tell me everything. I am pretty sure a lot of things have happened in these past 3 years."

Coming back to his senses Old Dan forced his slightly chaotic thoughts to the back of his mind and with a solemn face began to tell Raven everything.

And indeed, just as Raven had guessed many things have happened, from which the least shocking was the average Rank a human had.

It seemed throughout these three years every human grew in strength tremendous with the average Rank being between Rank 40 and Rank 45 while the strongest individual currently on Earth possessed a strength equivalent to over Rank 60!

It was just simply ridiculous to think about it.

'And here I thought with almost all of my Traits above 100 points I was still at the apex among humans...' Raven thought bitterly, only just now realizing just how utterly weak he was in this current world.
