Chapter 61 The elites
"Xan... Der." Sandra finally managed to say with a shaky voice.
Harry stood still, unable to believe that it was his friend that stood in front of him. The feeling of guilt encroached on his heart.
Guilt for leaving his friend in that cave of horrors.
Guilt for leaving the hellish world without him.
Xander let out a smile as he saw these two familiar faces.
He waved at them and just said, "Hey."
'That unparalleled coolness. It really is Xander.' Harry walked towards Xander with shaky legs.
"Behave yourself, or you're dead," Xander told Duke with a gentle smile. However, for Duke, that smile was a terror that could be his beacon of death.
Xander walked towards Harry and then they embraced each other.
"Hope you didn't cause any trouble to Sandra."
Hearing Xander's words Harry couldn't help but chuckle, "I knew you were into her." He then continued, "You'll tell me everything about how you escaped."
"Alright," Xander said and left Harry.
Harry had smiles all over his face as he thought that his best friend was lost to the game forever.
Xander looked at Sandra who had tears in her eyes and looked like she was going to break down any moment as she was visibly shaking.
Taking the initiative Xander walked up to her and pulled her into his embrace and let her cry on his chest.
"I thought you were dead. That minotaur... *sniff* was too strong," Sandra said still in her shaky voice as her hand slipped to Xander's back to give him a good hug.
"Forget that for now," Xander said before he continued. "I can't believe I missed you, princess."
Sandra laughed lightly at his words. "What's up with that name?"
"People call you that in school. So I picked it up." Xander said while shrugging.
Seeing Sandra getting all snugly with Xander Hannah pouted in jealousy. She has known Sandra since childhood and they were very good friends.
All of a sudden they heard the sound of a helicopter approaching.
Wait. No... the sound of HELICOPTERS!!
Sandra and Xander broke their hug and looked up to see a white helicopter hovering above the stadium.
Figures wearing all white suddenly jumped off the helicopter. They began landing one by one on the stadium, making subtle loud crashing sounds as the concrete floor broke beneath their feet.
Xander looked at Duke who was struggling to get out of the chains, meaning these people in white spelled trouble.
"The Elites." Luna suddenly said as she saw the people in white military uniforms.
"You know them?" Hannah turned to her sister.
"They're a group of returnees who help the government create order and capture others like them who are terrorizing the nation."
"Sounds like a superhero squad," Hannah shrugged.
It was to be expected as where there is darkness, there will be light. Terrorists cannot exist without soldiers to fight them.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Some will eventually step into the light but most step into the darkness.
The last of the soldiers landed on the floor and raised his head to look at the people around.
Xander, Sandra, and Harry had a dumbfounded looks on their faces as they stared at the last person who didn't have a mask on his face.
"Felix?!" Harry called out the pretty boy's name in anger. Enjoy new tales from empire
The boy with beautiful brown eyes and braided blonde hair looked at Harry with a raised brow. His gaze then landed on Sandra and he smiled as he pointed towards the group of terrorists that were sitting on the floor shivering.
"Round them up!"
""Yes sir!"" The ten other elites behind them moved upon his command.
"Hey. Sandra! Been a long time eh," Felix said with a handsome smile, his Australian accent a testament to his nationality.
"Unbelievable. You played the game?" Sandra blurted out.
"I should ask you the same question, princess." Pretty boy Felix turned and looked at Xander who was a little bit taller than him... a few centimeters tall.
Xander still had his usual nonchalant look as he looked at Felix, wondering why the pretty boy was looking at him like that.
Felix stopped looking at Xander after a while and looked at Sandra, "Well. I'll see you later. I have to lock these guys up."
Felix walked past them and went towards the stage and hopped on it.
"Mrs Luna, we're here to take you away," Felix said as he stretched his hand for Luna.
Luna stood up along with Hannah but Felix smiled as he said to her, "ONLY Mrs Luna. We can't have another returnee cause chaos again." He said in the most polite way possible but it looked like Luna wasn't buying it.
"There's no way I'm leaving my sister here," Luna said with furrowed brows but Hannah immediately replied.
"It's okay Luna. Like he said, I'm a returnee too," She said and nodded for Felix to take Luna away.
Luna didn't want to leave her sister again but her sponsor was very strict and Felix looked like he wouldn't accept 'NO!' for an answer.
Harry was just watching the whole thing from the sidelines. He never liked this boy Felix. One of the major reasons was that he was too good-looking, girls fawned over him all the time.
"Where do you take them?" Harry asked with a frown.
Felix looked at him and answered:
"To a military prison."
After the elites left in the luxurious chopper, Xander looked back to see Harry and Hannah behind him talking.
"Um... I've gotta go." Xander said, making the rest of the group turn to him in confusion.
"I'm going to find my dad." This time, Xander looked at Harry while saying that.
"Oh–"
"We'll come with you," Sandra cut in as Harry wanted to say something.
"I don't think you should–"
"Why?" Sandra looked at Harry with a frown.
Harry looked at Xander with a bitter smile.
Xander then said calmly, "I don't want–"
"I'm going with you, no matter what you say," Sandra said with a smile. "Me too," Hannah agreed with her.
Things were looking kind of hard so Xander looked at Harry, after all, the boy in glasses was more sociable than him.
Xander turned to see Harry looking elsewhere, indicating that he was on his own.
Xander massaged his forehead as he tried to think of a possible way to escape this situation. Not seeing any way to escape he finally sighed.
"If you want to follow me then you have to know some important things."
