Chapter 13: Chapter13-A Real Estate Agent, First Love?
"Mr. Roberts, I'll be leaving now. Here's my business card. If you have any similar items that need to be sold or appraised, feel free to call me," Stephen Johnson handed his card to Daniel and greeted Durant.
As for Benjamin Taylor, he rolled his eyes at him and hurried away.
By now, the day had worn into evening.
Robert and the other customs workers had finished their shift and were long gone.
Daniel, left alone with the haphazardly placed slot machines, was at a loss.
How was he supposed to deal with all these things?
Not to mention the piles of coins on the floor, which were worth at least 80,000 StellarCoins.
Surely, he couldn't just leave them here.
At this moment, the Abel brothers came over, "Mr. Roberts, let us handle these items."
Allen stretched out his hand and added, "We'll take it all for 60,000."
The machines were worth less than 30,000, and the coins over 30,000.
Sixty thousand was indeed a bit low.
But considering the labor costs for transportation, he decided to take the offer.
Daniel nodded, "Deal. Make the transfer."
Soon, the 60,000 was credited to his account.
The auction site was almost empty.
Durant said goodbye to Daniel and left.
As for Benjamin Taylor, he was too eager to enjoy his time with his girlfriend, and he disappeared without saying a word.
Daniel waved to his live stream audience, "That's it for today, folks. 'Treasure Hunt' netted 2.2 million, time to log off!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the stream went dark.
The stream was over, but the viewers were still buzzing with excitement.
"Did he really sell it for 2.2 million?!"
"That's 2.2 million StellarCoins! With the exchange rate, that's more than hitting the jackpot!"
"All the other 'Treasure Hunt' streamers are playing around, but Daniel is serious!"
"I really like this streamer. I'll definitely catch his live streams regularly."
"Two broadcasts in two days, two items, both worth millions. I'd call him a Treasure Hunt Master!"
"It's a thrill to watch. Too bad our port doesn't have such auctions. Otherwise, I'd join in and maybe make a fortune like the streamer."
"Heh, dream on, everything's possible in dreams."
The chatroom stayed active for more than an hour before comments started to dwindle.
Daniel took a cab home and picked up an iced coffee from the Central Park Café downstairs.
As he was about to head upstairs, a boy on a skateboard came speeding by on his left, yelling, "Make way, out of my way!"
The speed had passersby scrambling to avoid him.
On Daniel's right, a girl in a white dress was facing away from him, engrossed in a phone call, oblivious to the approaching skateboarder.
Seeing an impending collision, Daniel swiftly reached out, grabbed the girl's arm, and yanked her to safety.
The girl shrieked in panic as she ended up in Daniel's arms.
The skateboarding teenager lost his balance and toppled over, "What the hell, you deaf or something?! Didn't you hear me warning you?!" He had quite the attitude.
Daniel steadied the girl and was about to reprimand the kid when the surrounding crowd started to cast cold looks.
"Whose bratty kid is this?"
"Is the sidewalk a skate park to you?"
"You hit someone and still have the nerve to be arrogant? Apologize to the girl and then scram!"
Seeing that he had stirred up public anger, the teenager quickly backed down, "I'm sorry!"
He picked himself up, didn't even bother to retrieve his skateboard, and dashed away.
As the crowd dispersed, the girl was still in shock, stuttering, "Thank you... Daniel?"
Just as Daniel was about to dismiss it as no big deal, he was taken aback when he heard the girl call his name.
Could she be one of his livestream viewers?
He had only streamed for two days, and already had fans as beautiful as her.
Well, being handsome has its perks.
Daniel sighed and reached out, "I didn't expect you to recognize me. So, autograph or a selfie?"
The girl seemed taken aback, "Autograph? Selfie?"
Her reaction made Daniel realize something was off, "You haven't seen my streams?"
The girl shook her head, "No."
"I can't believe you're a streamer now."
Just who are you?
Daniel couldn't help but study the girl's face.
After a few seconds, it hit him.
Holy crap, it was Sophia Rosewood?
The girl he had liked since elementary school.
Back then, he was too shy to confess.
They lost touch after elementary school.
Now, after all these years, they ran into each other in Libertia, of all places.
Come to think of it, she was technically his first love!
They recognized each other and went into the nearby cafe.
Daniel casually picked up the skateboard that the kid had left behind and placed it next to him when he sat down.
"It's been years, you've changed so much I barely recognized you," Daniel said.
Sophia nodded with a smile, "Yes, it's been twelve years. You're still as handsome."
"You always ranked first in our grade in school. I didn't expect you to become a streamer."
Daniel joked, "What's so surprising about that? Even the world's richest person has streamed."
"I just stream casually. I have other jobs too."
Sophia was curious, "What kind of job?"
Daniel replied, "I'm a professional treasure hunter."
Sophia: "Uh..."
The job sounded a bit more uncertain than streaming.
Yet, she politely replied, "That's an interesting profession. There's a high ceiling."
There was no denying that.
In finding bargains, you could come across the most expensive items, the key was whether you could actually find those bargains.
Daniel nodded and laughed, "What brought you to Libertia? What do you do now?"
Sophia avoided the first question, responding directly, "I work in real estate, want to learn more?"
Daniel was taken aback, but smoothly replied, "Really? Where are you selling properties? I'm actually planning to buy a house."
Sophia was originally joking, but from Daniel's response, it seemed like he was serious.
"You're doing quite well for yourself, considering buying a house. What kind of house are you looking for?"
Daniel waved his hand dismissively, "Nothing fancy."
"Spacious, bright, preferably a standalone villa with a great view. If it's near mountains or water, even better. Plus, it should come with a yard no less than 500 square meters."
Hearing this, Sophia looked at Daniel, making sure he wasn't joking.
Sophia couldn't help but wonder if livestreaming was really that lucrative?
She knew top streamers made good money, but Daniel didn't seem like a major one, otherwise, she would have heard of him.
"You sure? Because if you are, I'll start looking."
"Go ahead, why would I lie to you?" At his words, Sophia set down her handbag and pulled out a tablet.
She opened an app and started scrolling.
After a moment, she pushed the tablet in front of Daniel.
"This one is located on the west side of Central Park. The beach and ocean are on the left and a forest park on the right. I'm sure you've heard of it, the West Coast community."
Daniel nodded, "A famous neighborhood for the rich."
Sophia continued, "Residents here are all wealthy and influential, even the previous president of Libertia lived here."
"All public facilities are available - hospitals, schools, malls, police stations, fire stations. Plus, it's the neighborhood with the lowest crime rate in Golden Shores. The last time a theft was reported was ten years ago."
Daniel nodded, "Sounds pretty good."
He was exploring the interior of the villa through AR reality viewing on the tablet.
The decor was perfect, amenities were comprehensive, and the furniture looked custom-made high-end pieces.
Scrolling to the bottom, he saw the price: 2,045,000 Stellarcoins with an annual property tax of 1%.
Good location, good building, good environment, all in all, it was a great property.
As for the price, he could easily earn that back in a day by finding bargains.
Just then, Sophia swiped to the next property, "These villas are too expensive, plus the annual property tax alone would be around two hundred thousand. Let's find something cheaper."
Daniel glanced at the next few properties, most were priced around two hundred thousand StellarCoins, but they were all small apartments.
Sophia kept talking, "The national conditions in Libertia are different from ours, many people here prefer to rent. Most young people resist buying houses, so if you really want to buy, find a decent location with a cheaper price. Earning money is tough, it's better to save a bit!"
Daniel gave a faint smile at her words.
It's said that real estate agents can be ruthless, even to their own family.
But here she was, dissuading him from the expensive properties and pointing him towards the cheaper ones.
This little girl was still as kind as she was back in the day.
