Chapter 19 - Luke's Title Is Taken And New Pet.
Mr. D got up with a huge sigh. "I suppose I should better say hello to all you brats. Well, hello. Our activities director, Chiron, says the next capture of the flag is Friday. Cabin five presently holds the laurels." A bunch of ugly cheering rose from the Ares table. He continued in his usual attitude. "Personally, I couldn't care less, but congratulations. Also, I should tell you that we have a new camper today. Peter Johnson."
Chiron murmured something. "Er, Percy Jackson, That's right. Hurrah, and all that.. Also if you are wondering about the people sitting on the ice table. It's none of your business. Now run along to your silly campfire. Go on." The curious ones wanted to know more but didn't dare question his. Kuraymi and his group went back to their camp where they let their familiars out.
They spoke more about the spell and curse for hours as it was a great power to have. Later in the evening, they heard the conch horn blew again, and the campers all filed back to their cabins. Percy thought about his first day and was happy. 'That was my first day at CampHalf-Blood.' His life was going to change every soon for the worst.
The next few days went normally if you don't count the fact that the lessons were from satyrs, nymphs, and a centaur. Each morning he talked to Annabeth, Kurayami, and his group. He talked about the gods and goddesses and the stories of other pantheons in the present tense, which was kind of weird.
The counselors looked for something Percy was good at. Chiron tried to teach him archery, but they found out pretty quick he was shit with a bow and arrow. Foot racing? No good either. And wrestling? Forget it. Every time he got on the mat, Clarisse would pulverize him. Don't get him started on Kurayami who seemed like an unshakable mountain.
She was still pissed about the toilet water. The only thing Percy really excelled at was canoeing, and that made sense as he knew who his dad was. He didn't say a thing as Kurayami had forbidden him from doing it.
The senior campers and counselors were watching Percy like hawks, trying to decide who his father was, but they weren't having an easy time with it. He wasn't as strong as the Ares kids, or as good at archery as the Apollo kids. He didn't have Hephaestus's skill with metalwork or Dionysus's way with vine plants. He knew who his dad was, but he wasn't saying it.
Despite all that, He liked it here. Right now he was on an open field wearing leather armor where he challenged Kurayami to a spar and expected him to get his knives or the one on his leg. However, he made a combat knife out of light. "Fallen Angels use light to make weapons. Come." Percy charged and swung his sword in a diagonal swing.
Kurayami hit his sword on the flat and made him lose balance and struck him with the hilt of the knife on the jaw and Percy felt like he was going numb. "Don't swing like crazy. You would have died in that exchange." Percy knew if Kurayami wanted to he just had to use his flames. However, Percy began to attack him with more expertise than a newbie should have.
Every time their weapons clashed Kurayami had to give a little more effort, but he was still just playing around with Percy. Esdeath, Raynare, and Akeno watched how Percy was fighting and felt it was a demigod trait. No sacred gears, but better fighting ability. However Kurayami ended it when he hit Percy on the forehead with his elbow. The lights went out for Percy as there was no water nearby.
Annabeth saw that and walked up to Percy and heard him snore. "You really are strong." Kurayami looked at her and back to Percy. "Maybe. See you later." He and his group left to go to their own training regiment with each other. She had watched and saw how many crazy abilities they had. When they spared it was like a calamity and she wanted to be like them.
From then on he spared with Kurayami and his group, but he got his ass shooled. They also fought him near water and it made him more of a challenge. However, it didn't change the fact that he was only fighting for a few days while they had years of training. Thursday afternoon, three days after he was taught by Luke and Kurayami on the sword. Luckily he was not a noob any longer.
The nice thing is that Riptide is a great weapon and perfectly balanced. The thing was that Kurayami and his group had far more experience. Luke announced he would be Percy's partner since he wanted to see him progress. "Good luck," one of the campers told him. "Luke's the best swordsman in the last three hundred years." When Akeno heard that she scoffed.
"No one is better than my brother and Esdeath." She didn't include Raynare as she fought with scythes. The campers snorted. "Don't be stupid. Your brother is no swordsman." Kurayami heard that and felt challenged. Rebellion was pissed and appeared in his hands. When they saw the demonic-looking blade it gave them a sense of dread. "Who doubts my swordsmanship?"
Luke showed a look like he wanted to challenge him to swordfight. "You had that baby with you and you never showed it. I challenge you to a duel." The campers made a circle about 5 meters and Kurayami entered it after Luke. "SHOW HIM, BROTHER." Akeno cheered. Raynare smiled. "My fiance won't lose." Esdeath smiled. "The man I choose as my husband can't lose after all." Annabeth was shocked. "What?" Raynare looked over and facepalmed.
"In our culture, strong men have many wives, but it is not easy. The woman must not only love him but not feel used. Kurayami is perfect husband material and mother in law is a saint."
Luke drew his blade and both circled each other. Kurayami did it out of respect as swordsman got his respect even someone like Luke. Luke charged and used all his skill against Kurayami, yet Kurayami kept up and his giant blade moved like it weighed nothing. He even kept his left hand behind his back while Luke kept attacking. Left, right, up, even trying to use his smaller blade to knock the bigger blade out of his hands.
However, Kurayami was no fool and could easily keep his huge blade balanced and all he did was defend. He finally went on the attack and swung his blade at a huge speed down on Luke who raised his sword to block and he felt the impact through his hands. The size and weight of the sword was just insane. The more swings he blocked the more numb became his hands.
Annabeth had a slight hope that Luke would prevail as she had a crush on him. However, power is what it is and finally, Luke's sword was knocked out of his hands and the huge blade was pointed at his face. "You lost." Luke felt defeated and humiliated as Kurayami was younger than him and didn't take it seriously. 'If he had a normal blade I would have won.'
Kurayami left with his group to their spot and just relaxed. Tyrant was eating Kurayami's lighting and fire and after Kurayami brought out a red pill which Tyrant began to drool lava for. It was a pill of dragon blood and bones. It was why he was growing wings. He threw the pill in and watched as his friend began to absorb the effects. Esdeath fed ice to her pet along with a similar pill of ice for Astor.
Kane just needed the death energy from Raynare and Elektra just had to grow. Esdeath got his attention. "Are we going to watch Percy's capture the flag game?" Kurayami shook his head. "Nah. Let Percy handle it. I feel we may have our job happen soon." They just ate some food, but suddenly Kurayami looked toward Percy and smirked.
"Seems that Luke is already trying to kill Percy." Akeno was resting her head on his lap and looked up. "Brother why don't we help him?" He stroked her hair and shook his head. "If we do all for him he will never be a good asset, but I want that beast. Let's go." He picked up Esdeath and they all flew their.
There on the rocks just above was a black hound the size of a rhino, with lava-red eyes and fangs like daggers looking straight at Percy like he was a dry aged steak. Every Camper was frozen except Annabeth, who yelled, "Percy, run!" She tried to step in front of Percy but the hound was too fast. It leaped over her—an enormous shadow with teeth toward Percy, but a black shadow rushed to it and tackled it to the ground.
Percy dropped to his knees in the water while Kurayami struggled with the beast. It was no where near as strong as him, but it was big. He brought out a collar and clamped it down and it's neck. It came to life in purple light and shocked the beast unconscious. Kurayami stroked it's fur and smiled. "Thanks Percy. I got a new pet."
Chiron trotted up next to them, a bow in his hand, his face grim while looking at the unconscious beast. "Di immortales!" Annabeth said. "That's a hellhound from the Fields of Punishment. They don't…they're not supposed to…" He came to the realization how it got in. "Someone summoned it," Chiron said. "Someone inside the camp."
Luke came over, the banner in his hand forgotten, his moment of glory
gone. Clarisse yelled, "It's all Percy's fault! Percy summoned it!" Chrion was not happy. "Be quiet, child," Everyone watched the hellhound breathed with deep breaths. Percy was too tired to argue and slumped in the river, but he should not have done that.
They were staring at Percy and he felt odd. The beast is caught, so shouldn't Kurayami get the attention. He noticed they looked above his head. "Percy," Annabeth said, pointing. "Um…" By the time he looked up, the sign was already fading, but he could still make out the hologram of green light, spinning and gleaming. A three-tipped spear: a trident. "Your father," Annabeth murmured. "This is really not good."
"It is determined," Chiron announced. All around me, campers started kneeling, even the Ares cabin, though they didn't look happy about it. "My father claimed me?" He asked, completely bewildered. "Poseidon," said Chiron. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God."
The next morning, Chiron moved Percy to cabin three and at the moment Kurayami and his group were around the huge hellhound. It snapped and snarled at them, but it was completely unable to struggle. "Sit." It red eyes looked bloodshot, but Kurayami unleashed his aura on it and it sat down.
"Good. Be good and you can be my mom's familiar." His mother could get one and this would beast perfect guard dog for the house. Chiron trotted over and saw Kurayami ordering it to do tricks. Its reward was small bits of meat. "What do you plan to do with the creature?" He looked over and explained. "I plan to give it to my mom as a guard dog."
Chiron was left gawking turning a Hellhound into a guard dog. "Can she handle this?" Kurayami and Akeno nodded. "Mom is not a normal human. She is a mystic and a really talented one." Chiron looked right at the beast and walked away. "Maybe we are to old school and our campers would be better off learning of the big world."
Raynare, Esdeath, Akeno and Kuraymi looked at him and made him an offer. "You could work with Azazel. He likes to teach strong people and he has not trained demigods, but he is a expert sacred gear trainer anyway." Chiron looked back and shook his head. "It's not my place to agree to that, but if all goes well and a war is avoided it might be possible."
He left while Kurayami and his group kept teaching the hellhound with obedience training as it was going to be Shuri's guard when they were not home. As it was a monster if it dies it will come back. More so as familiars have an anchor and come back faster than normal monsters.
