Life Of A Nobody - as a Villain

Chapter 369: Call from Elders

"Have you heard, the two elders who appeared during the freshers party asked every top ranker to gather at the training area?"

"Rankings? Based on what?'

"Remember the spar sessions we had a few days ago, apparently they weren't normal spars, but a test for this thing. The homeroom professors all chose the top 10 students from their classes and gave their names to the elders."

"What? Why didn't anyone announce it first? I didn't take that spar seriously at all."

"Me neither, I just played around afraid to waste my mana and get hurt, who would've thought I'll regret it now."

"Alas it's our own loss."

"What do those elders want anyway?"

"Who knows, maybe it's to give them personal guidance or start a seperate training program? I just know whatever they teach would surely be beneficial."

"There's no doubt about that, even fourth year students would have to complete several missions and spend many thousands of merit points to get an elder to teach them personally."

"Yeah, why are these rankers so lucky?"

"Maybe it's because of Rio, you know? I heard that Elder Ragnar asked him to be his disciple."

"What, weren't those just rumors?"

"Maybe, but there's no smoke without fire, right? I bet he already accepted the elder as master, and this is why the elders did this."

"You mean others are just an excuse since the elders wanted to train Rio?"

"Maybe, who knows? That's just my guess."

"Man, why is he so lucky, the Duke's family at birth, a primordial at awakening, and now an elder at academy. He's literally God's favorite child at this point."

"Angel, tsk…"

Rio walked ahead with Katherine by her side, they had just finished their usual training at the private rooms. He heard the whispers about him, yet showed no expression and ignored the crowd looking at him.

"They really like to talk too much huh, how can they be so free?" Katherine said as she glanced around.

"Ignore them, they're idiots anyway." Rio replied, not minding how some faces froze and frowned at his words of contempt.

"Is that true, about the elder?"

"What?"

"That he asked you to be his disciple?"

"He did, _ but I refused."

"_ why?"

"Cause he didn't give me any gifts."

"..."

Hearing Rio's reply, Katherine looked at his face in surprise and thought ' Isn't a personal guidance from an SS ranker already enough.' But remembering who his parents and grandparents are, she gave up.

What can an elder teach which the renowned Sword God himself doesn't know?

She could just stay silent and think about the vast disparity in this world.

How fate favors one and ignores the other. The mortals, gods, this world, and even heaven itself - it seems everything is always selfish for something.

"Do you know why we are called?" Katherine asked subconsciously. But Rio just looked at her and shook his head, much to the doubt of her.

After two months of training and spending time with him, she too like Becca and others, got this little sense that he knew about everything. After all, whatever questions she asked, doubts she had or technique she showed and practiced, he could always answer everything easily and guide her better, like he knew it all from beginning to end.

At first it kind of used to annoy her as she thought he was just showing off, so she would try to even ask about stuff she had no idea about just to test him, and frown when he'd laugh and explain them too, but now, after this long a time, she got used to it.

'Tsk' And this thought brought the feeling of being lesser once again in her mind.

On their way, Valtor and Heath also joined them together. Rebecca, Amy and Amaya were all waiting for them at the entrance already.

After that freshers party event, Rio also made friends with these few eople. Despite his, Moksh and Valtor's families always fighting over the dungeon rights and tower profits as the top 3 guilds, their sons have formed a friendship.

Obviously not the kind where you'd die for others or give up profits for free, but good enough to have a helping hand ready if other needed it.

Heath and Alaric's case was much special, as they weren't aware of each other prior.

But Rio had already won over Alaric, turning him into a loyal supporter for himself. The vamp-wolf hybrid had been in a limelight for a while, and this clearly didn't sit well with the pure blood vampires or the royal wolves. So when the two super clans sent their minions to suppress him and cause troubles for him, Rio came forward to save him. Obviously after he let the guy suffer a while.

Only after knowing pain, can one know the value of someone who brought peace and pleasure.

As for Heath, he was a smart man who despite being born a dragon, believed in his own strength instead of the dumb pride and arrogance of blood.

Thus knowing the difference in skill between Rio and himself, he chose to befriend him, all in hopes to surpass him one day. He's much like the monkey Zirix in that regards.

The quartet of boys had quite a few training sessions and classes together too, thus further improving their friendship.

On the other hand, Zirrix whom Rio had defeated openly a couple of times, seemed to have given up on him, and started pestering Leon these days. Maybe it was Sun Wukong's play or fate's plan, but Rio didn't mind, a stupid monkey wasn't something he needed anyway.

"Late, as usual."

As soon as they reached the empty space where other chosen students were waiting for Elders, Rebecca stepped forward and grabbed his hand. Hugging it in her arms, before moving towards Amy who was giggling happily.

She quite enjoyed the expression of her brother who obviously wanted to be more 'conservative' in this relationship, but also didn't want to push his new 'girlfriend' away when she started clinging to him. It was her favorite scene these days.

As Becca walked away she gave a glance to Katherine and nodded her head with a smile. Though she did feel a little bit angry, learning that he was busy with another girl all this time everyday , but knowing him for this long, she trusted him enough to believe when he said she was just a friend.

Plus not to mention that muscle head Rubina also accompanies them.

(Becca definitely didn't force Amy to fill the ears of Rubina and 'suggest' that Rio is a good trainer, so she can have a 'spy' watching them.)

Unlike Becca's teeny animosity, Amelia quite liked the cold silent girl. Somehow Katherine's dead personality and emotionless look, reminded her of how she used to be when her brother wasn't around those two years. The silent anger, the thirst for power, that rage filled heart but nowhere to vent - it was all so very familiar to her.

So Amy kind of made it her mission to make this ice beauty smile again.

Not surprisingly, her progress is still zero till now.

But Amy wasn't the one to give up easy anyway.

"Did he beat you again?"

"Hmm"

"How many times?"

"Four"

"Used mana?"

"Nope, just a sword with his left hand… .. And I know he's right handed."

"Tsk, don't worry you'll get him someday."

Hearing the conversation between the two, Rio, who just turned around had a blank look on his face. He raised his hand to pinch Amy's ears. "Are you my sister or hers? You're betting on my loss again, right."

"Wh_what no. Definitely not." Amy who heard his words, instantly shied away, as if a cat's tail had been stepped on while cheating, she was on a run.

"Silence,"

After chatting a few words with Becca and Amy, Rio looked up as the stern voice of elder broke their chatter.

At the stage at front were both the elders standing together side by side, their awe inspiring auras colliding with each other in a visible contrast of purity and gentlesness, with chaos and cruelty.

Just one word from them turned the entire class into mute muttons and made everyone focus at front. All awaiting the grand announcement that they eagerly waited for.
