Library of Heaven’s Path 2: Eternal Destiny

Book 2: Chapter 17: Thirty Million

Vol 2 ch 17: Thirty Million

Narrowing his eyes, Ling Buyang ultimately said nothing and turned to leave.

Back then, he had endured even greater humiliation and had managed to survive until now. This minor disgrace was nothing to him.

“My Lord…”

Liu Tianzheng looked anxious.

Receiving a few praises from that plump man and letting Xu Xin punch Zhang Xuan, only to then walk away? You’re a Destiny Master and haven’t even acted yet…

“Let’s head back!”

Cutting him off, Ling Buyang strode out.

Liu Tianzheng and Xu Xin could only follow behind.

“Teacher, this money…”

Seeing that the greatest crisis of her life had been resolved, Yu Xiaoyu hurriedly handed over the source banknotes she was holding.

“You all keep it. Since you were implicated because of me, consider it compensation!” Zhang Xuan shook his head.

“This is too much… Besides, we didn’t suffer any real harm, and you’ve already been so good to us, we can’t repay it…” Yu Xiaoyu quickly refused.

“Buy some supplies and quickly improve your strength; consider it repayment to me!” Zhang Xuan waved his hand.

Having just earned nearly ten million, thirty thousand was merely a small amount. He no longer cared.

The most important thing was that they had indeed been humiliated due to his involvement. Without that, who would dare to bully them even a little?

Seeing their teacher’s determination, Yu Xiaoyu and the others had no more words, only storing their gratitude deep in their hearts.

Liu Mingyue, in particular, was full of guilt.

She knew a bit about her family’s dealings with the Destiny Hall. It was likely that both Xu Xin and Ling Buyang were brought by her father… yet Zhang Xuan hadn’t blamed her at all.

This trust alone left her feeling deeply ashamed.

“Teacher, rest assured, I will work hard and strive to earn your approval and become your official disciple as soon as possible…”

Liu Mingyue silently vowed.

She was currently only an auditing student and still far from being an official disciple. But no matter how distant that goal was, she would pursue it tirelessly.

“Teacher Zhang… what exactly is going on here?” City Lord Yu and the others approached.

“Let’s talk in the classroom.”

Seeing the increasing number of students gathering around to watch, Zhang Xuan motioned them away.

Inside the room, Yu Longqing and Lu Mingrong could no longer contain themselves and looked over in sync.

That was a genuine Destiny Master, coming with a crowd to capture him, exuding a threatening aura, only for the situation to be diffused in a few sentences? Most notably, he was even made to apologize to a few children and hand over so much source currency…

“You… are you truly the young master of a powerful clan training here?”

The room fell silent for a moment before Yu Longqing spoke.

“Yes.” Zhang Xuan nodded. “During training, one must hide their identity and start from scratch. That’s why I entrusted you with handling my White Roc City credentials.”

Yu Longqing was suddenly enlightened and felt a surge of admiration.

Starting training as a stable hand… it truly was an effort.

The fact that he could disguise himself so well that even they didn’t notice spoke volumes of his resilience.

“It wasn’t my intention to deceive you; it’s a family mandate, and it’s inconvenient to explain further!” Zhang Xuan clasped his hands.

Since Ling Buyang already suspected him of being a Chaotic Fate Practitioner, he could only continue the pretense—for Kong Shi's rescue and his safety.

“We understand…” Yu Longqing and Lu Mingrong nodded simultaneously.

No wonder he possessed such talent and advanced so rapidly. It all made sense as part of a powerful clan's trial.

Zhang Xuan continued, “Enough of that. Dean Lu, I have a million source currency here and wish to purchase sufficient destiny disks. Can you sell me some?”

“You’ve been pushing yourself so hard for money just for this?”

Lu Mingrong realized.

He had been wondering why Zhang Xuan was frantically taking on missions. It turned out he intended to buy destiny disks from him…

“White Rock Academy has accumulated some over the years, but not many remain. A few days ago, I sold one to Liu Tianzheng, gave you two… Now, there are only four left. Here, take them all.”

Zhang Xuan let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Dean Lu.”

With these four, the library should have around 130,000 units of Heaven’s Fate Energy, sufficient for rapid training.

“No need for thanks.”

Lu Mingrong looked at him solemnly. “Even with your high status, Ling Buyang is vengeful. Making him apologize today might put you in danger later.”

“Not making him apologize would have put me in greater danger.” Zhang Xuan shook his head.

If he had let Ling Buyang leave easily, the retaliation would be far worse. Forcing him to apologize and injuring Xu Xin would make him more cautious.

“That’s true…” Lu Mingrong paused and nodded.

He hadn’t expected that even after all his years of experience, the young man could see things so clearly.

“Destiny Masters can trace and manipulate destinies. Be very careful…” Yu Longqing added.

Zhang Xuan frowned. “Trace destinies?”

Yu Longqing nodded. “Yes! Everyone has their destiny. Once it’s located, a Destiny Master can sever beneficial streams or place destiny locks, making even the strongest person unable to escape. This is why they are feared.”

Zhang Xuan was confused. “What do you mean?”

Yu Longqing explained, “It’s hard to describe, but an example might make it clearer. Suppose you have a destiny to earn a billion source currency in your lifetime, and the opportunity for that occurs at some choice in your life. A Destiny Master can find this event in the River of Destiny and either destroy it or use a destiny lock to delay it. So, instead of receiving it at 30, you might only get it at 80. Both lead to the same outcome, but it’s vastly different to obtain it in youth versus on your deathbed.”

Zhang Xuan understood.

Destiny couldn’t be changed, but its timing could be manipulated. If such a plot were used against him, it would be troublesome.

“Is there any way to avoid this?” he asked after a moment.

Yu Longqing replied, “Destiny Masters surely have ways to protect their destinies, but I don’t know the specifics!”

As they talked, the remaining four destiny disks from White Rock Academy were brought over. Zhang Xuan handed 800,000 source currency to Dean Lu. Paying for things outright was better than owing favors.

After a few more questions and realizing they didn’t know much more about Destiny Masters, Zhang Xuan stopped asking and looked up. “Do we have enough Divine Soul realm techniques here?”

Lu Mingrong responded, “The academy has about a dozen. If Elder Zhang wishes, I can fetch them for you.”

Yu Longqing added, “The City Lord’s Mansion might have more, but no more than twenty books.”

“Ten or twenty?” Zhang Xuan frowned.

That was too few to create a Heaven’s Path technique.

“Bring them over first.”

He might be able to use the Heaven’s Path Order ability to form a suitable manual.

In the Liu family hall, a pin drop could be heard. Liu Tianzheng sat cautiously, not daring to breathe.

After an unknown time, Xu Xin asked incredulously, “Lord Ling, is that man really a young master of a great family?”

Ling Buyang nodded. “Achieving the Jade Bone realm at such a young age makes it very likely! But so what if he is? Many noble heirs go out to train each year, and only those who return alive gain status and glory. Otherwise, they’re no different from commoners.”

Great clans had fierce competition due to their vast numbers.

As long as someone wasn’t a direct heir, nobody cared if they died outside.

Hence, there was an unspoken rule: when noble heirs left for training, they ceased being heirs. Only those who survived and returned could reclaim their status.

Xu Xin hesitated. “Are you saying…”

Ling Buyang’s eyes narrowed. “He dared to humiliate me. I can’t kill him openly, but who says I can’t act in the shadows?”

If it were only for the forced apology, he could have endured it, knowing the young man was from a powerful clan. But that boy knew details from 17 years ago… if those got out, how could he live?

So, these two must die!

Xu Xin’s eyes brightened. “Do you mean to lock his fate and bring misfortune?”

Ling Buyang shook his head. “It’s not that simple! Locking fate would harm me greatly and only delay his achievements briefly. It’s not worth it.”

Xu Xin frowned. “Then…”

Ling Buyang’s gaze sharpened. “At the Divine Soul realm, one’s spirit can detach from the body. Spirits are intangible, and without sufficient cultivation, they are undetectable. Tonight, I’ll end him, and that plump one too… As long as I obscure his fate beforehand, no one will trace it to me!”

“Excellent. I’ll prepare the array!” Xu Xin said, excitement in his voice.

Ling Buyang nodded, looking toward Liu Tianzheng. “I’ve suffered such a loss because you falsely reported him as a Chaotic Fate Practitioner!”

Liu Tianzheng turned pale. “My lord, please forgive me…”

Ling Buyang spoke coldly, “I’ll forgive you if your Liu family covers my losses for this array and everything else.”

Liu Tianzheng’s brow twitched as he looked up nervously. “

How much are we talking about?”

Ling Buyang’s eyes flashed. “Not much. Just 30 million source currency! If I don’t see it by nightfall… your family will pay in blood!”

“Th-Thirty million? Pay in blood?”

Liu Tianzheng’s face turned ashen, and he collapsed.

It was over. Even if they sold the entire Liu family, they couldn’t raise that amount.

A million, thirty million… In just a few days, the Liu family was doomed, all because of preventing his daughter from becoming Zhang Xuan’s disciple…
