Chapter 33
There were plenty of mountains behind Baldwin county.
All year round, their peaks would remain white with snow.
Hence, they were called the Snowy Mountain Range.
At its summit was a lone soul.
His facial features were immature, and his body was out of shape, but he gave off the feeling of a true expert.
He was dressed in all black.
He stretched out his hand, opening his palm.
Immediately, a black hole appeared above it and spewed out a black glove.
If anyone had seen that, they would have been surprised.
Without hesitation, the teenager put his sheathed sword aside and wore the glove.
Immediately, his Strength Stat rose above 50 points, crossing the limits of a Body tempering trainee, and his Agility Stat also increased by 2 points.
Roy had started to keep all his items, including the inheritance of his mother, in his Subspace, freeing himself from the worry of someone stealing his things.
Even if his evil stepmother and her son found out about the secret safe in his room, they would get nothing.
A silver streak shot up the mountain. It was Roy moving at high speed.
He had come to the Snow Mountains once again because he was suspicious about how the pack he had slain had raised a Snow Wolf Leader in the harsh conditions of the snowy mountains.
There were many herbs in this place, but little to no Magic Herbs.
That was why Weapon Monsters would never come here to hunt. Hunting in a place with sparse Magic Herbs was a waste of their time.
It was very, very hard for a pack to have a Snow Wolf Leader that young without using hundreds of magic herbs.
A ridiculous amount of resources was needed for the birth of a Snow Wolf Leader.
But this ridiculous amount couldn’t be found in this place.
So how did they raise a snow wolf into a Snow Wolf Leader?
“Maybe I will find an answer to my question in their den.” Roy thought, entering the depths.
He moved about in search of the den of the wolves.z
Mere minutes later, Roy found a pair of snow wolves. To be more exact, they had come here looking for him.
“Awooo!!”
“Awooo!!”
The moment they set their eyes on him, they howled really loudly. The birds flew away as a bad premonition raised in Roy’s heart.
“They are up to something, but whatever they’re planning will only backfire on them.” Roy thought as he took out Reflection from its sheath and rushed towards the two snow wolves.
They were both at the eighth level. Killing them would net him 160 EXP. He wasn’t going to miss out on this.
His Strength was already higher than a Level 10 Boss Monster, but when he equipped his sword, it increased by five more points, putting his strength close to that of a Weapon Master.
He was too ridiculously powerful.
Level 10 Monsters didn’t stand a chance against him.
The two snow wolves scampered away, running away from the devil. They used the trees as their cover to hide from Roy’s line of sight while widening the distance between them.
‘They have become craftier than last time.’ Roy thought as, with a gentle leap, he launched into the air.
Looking down, he saw the two smart asses zigzagging across the trees.
His lips curled into a smile, a murderous one, as like a psychopath, he muttered, “Caught you….”
He did a nose dive, landing three steps above them. All that was seen by the Snow wolves then was a flash of white light. Roy stood in their attacking range. But they didn’t move a single muscle as they didn’t have the strength or breath to do so. Roy unsheathed his sword. In that very instant, the heads of two snow wolves detached from their body, dropping to the white ground which their blood dirties.
『You killed two Snow Wolves. You get +1 Agility and 160 EXP!』
A notification carrying pleasant news sounded in Roy’s ears, but his expression took a turn for the worst, for the notification hadn’t come alone but brought a great sense of danger.
There was a strong tingling feeling on the back of his head as if Death itself was running its hand through his hair, and continuously chills were creeping up his spine.
Your sixth instinct has kicked in.
A deadly danger is approaching you.
From where? Roy looked around, working his senses to their utmost limit.
Sure enough, there was a huge fluctuation of mana 20 meters behind his back.
His senses weren’t fooling him.
Someone had cast a spell just now, and its target was him!
He turned around, and what he saw thinned his eyes to the size of needles.
Glimmering rays of frostiness shot out from the sides of the tree, launching an assassination on him.
“Mana Wall!” He uttered in a hurry. Immediately, a shield of mana manifested out of thin air, and he grabbed it in his left hand. Both the shield and the sheathed sword were swung out, smashing six Frost Spears into smithereens.
Two more volleys of frosty iciness tried to claim his life. Roy made a sprint to his left. Six of them stabbed in the spot he just left. He wasn’t able to get out of the trajectory of the other time. He confronted them head-on, smashing them away with his shield and sword.
[You lost 0.3 HP!]
One of them shot past him, cutting open a bloody gash on the side of his shoulder.
It didn’t hurt a lot, but Roy felt like a dozen bees had stung him in the same place.
“Show yourself!”
Just as he shouted those words, a downsized snow wolf followed by varying size snow wolves came into his vision. There were dozens of them, more than he had taken out days ago. Four of them were two levels below him. The rest were pretty much taken as insignificant ants by Roy.
The wolf at their helm had blue eyes, and there was the mark of a crescent moon on her head.
After having a good look at her, Roy’s expression changed to that of surprise, and he said with trembling lips, “This has to be a Luna!”
His lips were trembling out of excitement and not fear.
What were the chances of a young Lunar Wolf and a young Winter Wolf appearing in the same habitat barren of Magic Herbs? Zero!
That only meant they had unearthed a treasure that was helping them evolve super fast, and Roy wanted to take it for himself now!
『 Lunar Wolf』
Level: 10
HP: 15/15
MP: 85/100
AGT: 50
STR: 42
STA: 34
Roy found out that while she wasn’t as strong as him, she was faster than him. He became confident about fighting her.
“Awoo!”
This roar signaled the start of the fight.
The intelligence of the Lunar Wolf took Roy by surprise.
Unlike the Winter Wolf, who had engaged him fiercely, she had stayed behind and pushed her underlings to the frontline to fight him.
The snow wolves surrounded him, circling him.
“If you think you can overwhelm me with numbers, you’re wrong!” Roy scoffed.
The Luna gave no heed to his word and howled, commanding her minions to tear him apart.
“Awooo!”
Instantly, they pounced on him.
Roy’s eyes turned cruel, and his fighting spirit rose to an unprecedented level.
His muscles swelled, his face turned red, and veins popped up on his head and neck as if an exorcist was trying to force a demon out of his body.
“Die!”
An instant after he uttered that word, a wave of Aura invisible to the naked eye suddenly burst out in all directions, with him as the center.
The wolves that had pounced on him were thrown away brutally.
Some crashed into their comrades, some died after smashing their heads on ice-cold stone, while some head-butted thick trees and slumped down to the snow. The icicles hanging on the trees fell down as they were rocked, stabbing the wolves down below.
Pitiful roars were heard.
