Chapter 33

Chapter 33: The first time the gun was dismantled like this, the squad leader was puzzled!

The squad leader observed their silent expressions and coldly snorted, “I hope you all remember these two points and don’t push me to get angry again.”

He then grabbed Yu Jun’s firearm and said, “Now, let me explain this gun to you.”

“You’re holding a Type 95 automatic rifle, commonly used by our military and armed police, abbreviated as qbz-95. It has a caliber of 5.8mm, weighs 3.25 kilograms, has a length of 746 millimeters, an effective range of 400 meters, and a maximum range of 600 meters.”

While explaining, the squad leader gestured with the gun.

After introducing the firearm, he continued, “Now, I’ll show you how to disassemble and assemble it.”

Sitting on a makeshift stool, he carefully began the disassembly process.

The rifle’s structure is intricate, with numerous parts, leaving everyone bewildered. Despite the many components, disassembly doesn’t require screwdrivers, as there are hardly any screws in the entire gun, aside from some non-essential parts of the shell.

The squad leader smoothly disassembled the rifle, making it seem like child’s play as parts fell off effortlessly.

As he demonstrated, the squad leader asked, “Have you all learned it?”

The group shook their heads, feeling overwhelmed by the complexity.

The squad leader teased, “Can’t figure it out even after watching once?”

They admitted their difficulty.

With a stern look, the squad leader said, “If you can’t do it, fumble on your own and come to me if needed.”

Scolded by the squad leader, they returned to their beds, attempting to cautiously replicate the leader’s actions. Yu Jun, however, stood happily by the squad leader, having borrowed the gun for demonstration.

As a temporary squad leader in the recruits, Li Long lacked his firearm from the old unit, borrowing one from Yu Jun for the demonstration.

After successfully disassembling the gun, the squad leader challenged, “Can’t do it? Try it yourselves, and come to me if you fail.”

Amused by the squad leader’s challenge, Yu Jun realized he didn’t need to disassemble the gun but felt content watching the others struggle. Sitting on the makeshift stool, the squad leader noticed Yu Jun’s expression and swiftly reassembled the gun, challenging him to disassemble it.

Surprised, Yu Jun took on the challenge, gradually disassembling the gun. Observing the scene, Chen Ming took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and utilized his gun proficiency skill, instantly absorbing a wealth of firearm knowledge.

When I opened my eyes again and looked at my 95-style rifle, it no longer seemed unfamiliar; instead, it felt like a familiar old friend. The process of disassembly slowly formed in my mind.

Chen Ming swiftly dismantled the rifle following the mental instructions. In just over ten seconds, he had disassembled the rifle into neatly arranged small parts on the ground. The speed was comparable to that of the squad leader. This wasn’t a deliberate slowing down for demonstration but the speed at which Yu Jun assembled the rifle.

Observing Chen Ming’s speed with a surprised expression, the squad leader approached and carefully inspected each part on the ground. Others raised their heads, witnessing the scattered parts beneath Chen Ming’s feet, leaving them stunned.

In their minds, a single thought echoed, “Wow, the squad leader, this guy is extraordinary!”

As a recruit, they were still figuring out the first step of dismantling the gun, and he had already completed it!

The squad leader, eyeing the scattered parts that were all intact, confirmed that Chen Ming hadn’t used brute force but followed the steps meticulously.

“Are you so skilled because you’ve played with guns before?” The squad leader asked, squinting at Chen Ming.

Chen Ming shook his head vigorously, as he couldn’t admit to having played before. It was his first time touching a gun, and he was too excited to conceal his inexperience.

Facing the squad leader’s scrutiny, Chen Ming regretted not hiding his clumsiness during the initial demonstration. However, he quickly devised a reasonable excuse.

“Reporting, squad leader, I haven’t played with guns before, but I have a good memory. I really like guns and remembered these details while watching your demonstration,” Chen Ming explained.

After contemplating, he added, “I also have better hands-on ability than others. This is why I excel in games. Dismantling a gun is like playing a game; it’s not difficult!”

In Chen Ming’s view, this explanation seemed reasonable. His good memory had been demonstrated during bed-making, and his hands-on ability was well-documented in his gaming history.
