Chapter 15: Housekeeping is over. Immediately transition to queue training!

As he returned to the dormitory after lunch, a whistle sounded downstairs, signaling the end of the lunch break.

Phew, after a busy morning, I can finally get some sleep,” He Dong said, sitting on the mat and reaching for his slippers. The others began to follow suit, taking off their shoes to relax.

Suddenly, the squad leader, sitting on his small mat, shouted, “Is the quilt folded? If it’s not folded properly, how can you sleep?!”

Everyone looked at the squad leader seriously and immediately became uneasy.

“No nap today. Fold those quilts, and I’ll inspect them after the break. You’ll be running laps if anyone hasn’t folded it properly!” The squad leader declared.

“Ah?!” The recruits were startled, especially He Dong, Yu Jun, and He Xue, whose legs were already sore from the morning exercises.

With the threat of more running, the fatigue vanished. Hastily, they unfolded the quilts and started pressing them. Not wanting to be caught off guard, Chen Ming unfolded his quilt and carefully pressed it. Although the quilts were less fluffy after a morning of pressing, achieving the perfect fold was still challenging. Ignoring the squad leader’s snores, time passed, and the lunch break was over.

The squad leader, nearly synchronized with the whistle downstairs, woke up, put on his shoes, and said, “Fold those quilts. Let me see what you accomplished during the break.”

Hearing this, everyone hurriedly folded the quilts. Chen Ming had taught them the technique, but the fluffy quilts made it challenging. Now, with shoes on, the squad leader nodded and inspected their efforts. Chen Ming’s quilt was decent but not perfect.

“Your effort deserves about an 80 out of 100,” the squad leader commented.

Relieved, Chen Ming grinned and said, “Thank you, leader!”

After inspecting all the quilts, the squad leader stood in the dormitory and addressed everyone, “The rest of you, at best, I can give you a 60.”

Everyone exchanged nervous glances, and the dormitory was filled with tension.

Are sixty points considered passing? I don’t want to run!

Everyone had the same thought.

If sixty points are deemed insufficient by the leader, they’ll all have to run laps.

The squad leader, observing them, chuckled, “Alright, consider yourselves cleared for now, but if you can’t produce a good tofu cube in a few days, the consequences won’t be as simple as running laps.”

Upon hearing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

He Dong, the chubby guy, patted his chest, trying to calm his racing heart. That really scared him. If they had to run laps again, he and all his flesh would be in trouble. The matter with the quilts passed temporarily, and relief appeared on everyone’s faces.

Looking at their expressions, the squad leader smirked mysteriously – a playful expression on his charcoal-like face. This smile and his dark appearance sent shivers down the recruits’ spines.

“Rest up, I’ll be waiting downstairs. Five minutes from now, everyone must appear in front of me dressed properly!” Said the squad leader.

The entire dorm erupted in chaos at the mention of five minutes. After realizing the urgency, Chen Ming calmly put on his shoes, adjusted his uniform, and headed downstairs. The teammates frantically followed suit, struggling to zip up and put on hats in the chaotic rush.

Under the shade downstairs, the squad leader checked his watch, commanding, “Report to me, assembled and properly dressed, in five minutes!”

Chen Ming quickly stood in front of the squad leader, reporting, “Sir!”

Looking at the well-dressed group, the squad leader nodded, “Not bad, better than I expected.”

His praise brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

“Follow me to the training ground. The afternoon session is all about formation training!”

The recruits wondered about the training ground, imagining it filled with gunshots and falling targets. Chen Ming, however, knew the difference – it’s about standing in military formation, a much more challenging task.

Under the squad leader’s guidance, the group headed towards the training ground.
